I was looking for a hot dog in downtown Wilmington when this place popped up on my search. I was…read morepleased to discover it was about a 15 minute drive away. Worth it! I'm always impressed by a standalone hot dog place. When I finally arrived to the location, I was shocked at how big the building was. And, for a Sunday mid afternoon, there were so many cars there! Some families were dining inside, some outside on the picnic tables, and many Just sitting and eating in their cars. My kind of place! Very casual and low-key. I went inside and ordered three hotdogs. Two for myself and one for my own dog who came with me. His hot dog was playing. Mine came with chili and slaw on one and Paul's famous relish on another. I also ordered a side of fries and a fountain drink. I was shocked when they told me my order total was less than $12. My food was bagged up for me ready to go before I even handed them my card. Food was good. Nothing out of this world. Definitely not a gourmet hotdog. The hotdogs are boiled and soft, not grilled. Overall, my impressions are that this is a staple in Rocky Point. A great stop for a quick and cheap meal. Cute. FYI - They also seemed to have other sandwich items like chips, grilled cheese, ham, sandwich, etc.

Then I stumbled across this gem of a restaurant! It makes sense why this place has been in business since 1928! Classic hotdogs that are great! Everyone working here is so friendly and it's very inviting! I will be back again when I am in this area. Hot dogs are one of my 3 main food groups!

They used to actually serve the food in baskets which was cute, but now everything is just served in a brown lunch sack wrapped in paper. Not very appealing for dine in eating... It's fine for takeout but step it up a little bit for dine-in. And look at the photos of these ketchup bottles that are on the tables... Absolutely gross. Spend the $7 per bottle and go down to Food Lion and buy some new ketchup bottles. This is disgusting

Being a beach town and all, you'd expect more than your fair share of hot dog joints, but getting a "Bob Dog" is an Oak island staple for many people. You'll find basics here, as well as some less traditional variations, as well as specials that change now and again. The inside and outside are very no frills, but functional enough for your quick beach break. Service is counter service, and was fine for what I needed it for. We tried a few different hot dogs as a collective, and my experience is that you're likely to be happier with some of the more typical options (like the "all the way" which they call the Oak Island Dog) than you are some of the more esoteric options. I'm always gonna order one all the way as a baseline, and their version was pretty good, though I'd love to see a better bun, maybe buttered and grilled to kick it up a notch. The cole slaw is more coarsely chopped than I would like as well, but overall, good. The other dog I got on this trip had some brisket on it, which sounds good in theory, but in practice I would pass next time and just go for two all the way... or maybe a chili cheese dog. Fries were good but basic, no problem there, and the combo made for an inexpensive meal (by today's standards) like hot dogs should be.

They must have limited off season hours because the first time we stopped by they were closed. But last Friday, we were able to try several of their popular dogs. The menu is vast and they serve burgers and other food besides dogs. I had the famous Carolina dog that had chili sauce and Cole slaw. I'm not sure I'll ever get used to slaw on a dog, but it was good. My husband had the Beach Dog which was immense and messy. He loved it. The Beach dog was a delicious blend of chili, slaw, onions and mustard. Service was friendly and quick. We ate at the tables in front of the stand which were clean! They have a vegetarian option. - lightlife smart dogs ($3.99 for a 8 pack in stores, so they're definitely overpriced) They do have a good amount of shaded picnic table seating, which is nice, but it gets very crowded on sunny days and weekends. Unfortunately, someone got sick right in front of us at the picnic tables, and the area wasn't cleaned or rinsed down. I understand unexpected situations happen, and I'm not entirely sure what the proper response process is, but the smell and overall situation completely ruined my appetite. It did make me question how well the outdoor seating areas are maintained during busy times.
