I need a gentle, no upselling dentist I can trust…read more Dr.King was my second dentist I tried when I moved to Tampa. The first could not deliver on either of my requirements. Dr.King is wonderful! I like her staff and that matters too. I trust Dr.King and if she recommends something, and she has not recommended much as I've had a ton of work done previously, I know she sees a need. It's also a beautiful and pristine office and that matters too.

I had Joan sign me up for a dental plan in 2019. She signed me up for automatic renewal without telling me and I was charged for 2020, 2021, and again in 2023 without my knowledge. In that period I went to the office and had work done without insurance paying anything. They quit accepting that plan after 2019. Then she sells me a new plan in 2022 and I soon discover I had been paying for the first one for three years without any benefit. I complained and they cancelled my insurance without reimbursing me for anything. I knew I would never get my premiums back for the first plan but they should reimburse me for the second. They have ripped me off of 150 dollars and when I disputed the charge they refused to settle the dispute. This was Joan's mistake, she never asked or told me she was signing me up for auto renewal. This is so wrong. Besides that, after spending over 10,000 for crown replacement my mouth has never been right. My mouth bothers me constantly now and 3d xrays don't show what is under the crowns but something is not right. I would advise you all to stay away from this office, you may learn to regret it as I have.

Dr. Smiley immediately makes you feel comfortable and answers every question. He is genuine, compassionate and realistic about treatment needs and never makes me feel rushed or pressured into any treatment options. He is super knowledgeable, patient and kind. I highly recommend him oto anyone needing to see a dentist. 5 stars!!!!

0-STARS- We have been patients at Friendly Smiles Dental Office for quite some time, which makes…read morethis experience even more disappointing. My 80-year-old father recently visited the office seeking a straightforward and affordable treatment plan. He currently has an upper denture and a lower partial with two remaining attachment teeth that need extraction. The goal was to create a new upper denture and a new lower implant-supported denture, with two implants intended to support and stabilize the new lower denture. We fully understood that he would require bone grafting beforehand due to significant bone loss. My father does not have dental insurance and trusted the office to provide an honest and appropriate treatment plan. Instead, he was presented with a proposal totaling nearly $26,000. As his daughter, and someone with extensive dental knowledge, I was honestly baffled after reviewing the treatment plan and panoramic X-rays. One of the most concerning issues was the use of dental code D7210, which is intended for the surgical removal of an erupted tooth requiring bone removal, tooth sectioning, or flap elevation. The office proposed using this code for the extraction of my father's two lower teeth and charged $419 per extraction under this surgical code. However, the panoramic X-ray and treatment plan clearly indicate that my father already has severe bone loss and requires bone grafting to preserve what little bone remains for future implant support. In this situation, using a surgical extraction code involving bone removal seems completely inappropriate when a simple extraction code could have been used instead. It felt less like patient-centered care and more like an attempt to maximize billing at the expense of an elderly patient who trusted their guidance. Sadly, this experience reinforced the growing concern many people have about large dental chains prioritizing production and overhead costs over honest, ethical treatment planning. I can only say that I am extremely disappointed in the handling of this case and in Dr. Smiley Jr. specifically. My father deserved transparency, compassion, a realistic treatment plan, and to be presented with alternative treatment options that could have better fit his age, condition, and financial situation not what felt like an excessive and unnecessary financial burden.

Well, that's exactly what they said . Oh, after my balance is paid then they can take a look.. I'm like " that'll probably be another two years. I'm paying $40 a month. Why does it have to be paid first? I haven't missed not one payment since we made this agreement. I will not be going back. Hell...I don't even want to drive by there. I'll never go back there as long as I live. I still think they should be taking care of this since I'm still paying. Don't want my credit rating dipping if I stop paying them. I had the chance to have all my questions asked and although i usually have a terrible time at the dentist due to my unique teeth and traumatic experiences before, they accommodated accordingly to give me the full and best experience I could get, regardless that my teeth were weird and that i hadn't been there in 2 years. I would 100% recommend and take my family here. The staff on 12/1/21 were exceptional. Thank Tampa dentistry team.

Literally the best dentist appointment I have ever gone to. Making the appointment was a breeze,…read morecalled the day before and was lucky enough to get an appointment the next day. My appointment was at 9am, but I got there early to fill out the paperwork. I was taken back around 9:30 to get X-rays done, the assistant was just the sweetest. Then another one came in to take more notes and she explained roughly how it may go. Not too long the dentist came in. Dr. Beckmann. Seriously the best. She actually took the time to explain everything to me and wasn't rushing lol me and didn't make me feel like my questions or concerns were stupid. Not too long after I was given laughing gas and some drugs to numb the area I was going to do the tooth extraction. About 10-15 minutes later we got started. I loved how as she was doing the extraction, she was still updating to me on what was going on. I found the one. Just amazing. As for pricing wise, they don't take insurance, which wasn't a big deal for me, since a majority of dental plans don't even cover much anyways. The pricing was fair and not too ridiculous, and they didn't try to "sell" me anything or make me do anything that wasn't unnecessary. So I'm not sure about the previous reviews that were so negative, but I definitely didn't experience that. Would 10/10 recommend.

The assistant did all of the work, unlike a regular dentist who usually does all of that. First you have to sign something because they do not warranty any of their work, and God forbid something happens to the work, then you have to pay for the service again. They are definitely protecting themselves with this form. The temporary they made was very thin, terrible material and fell off the very next day. It split in two because I ended up biting down on it. I would never ever recommend this place to anyone. Do not go here if you can help it.

New patient here and I have so many good things to say I could cry!…read more I admit, My dental history isn't the greatest and I now have a bunch of old dental work that is failing me years later. Dental procedures have always been on the back burner for me unless completely necessary. Today's initial overview of my dental health contained everything under the sun: Cavities, swollen gums, fillings that were cracked, bite issues, questionable bridge work...you get it. Basically a 4/10. I got X-rays and tons of "before" photos/scans with cool high tech equipment, Hygienist came in and did her thing as well. After the doctor reviewed everything, she gave me my options of highest priorities to take care of and what they could get done while I was there. Today I got a deep cleaning on my right side and afterwards got a TON of mini fires put out on my right upper teeth. It was a marathon appointment. They worked quick and although I was there for a few hours, they really fixed so many years of neglect. I couldn't be more grateful to them. I've already called friends and told them they need to switch to this dental office. I have never experienced better customer care in my life. The sweetest staff you can find and that is especially important when you have 'dental insecurities'. I have a few more appointments to go to get to that healthy smile, but I am so excited I found these guys and just trusted the good reviews. I thought all day about writing this for them because they truly deserve every good praise in my opinion. Side notes: The building is beautiful! Make sure you follow their parking instructions so you can get validated parking. They bought me a smoothie because they knew I'd be hungry being there for that long. They have the best rating for a reason!

BEWARE OF OVERCHARGING!…read more I strongly recommend that any patient here carefully compare every charge to their insurance EOB. Do not assume the billing is accurate without verifying it yourself! After personally reconciling the office's patient ledger to my insurance Explanation of Benefits, I found over $5k in billing discrepancies. Line by line, I found charges that exceeded the insurance-allowed amounts. For example, one visit was billed at $467, while the allowed amount was $251. These differences were not minor--they added up to a substantial overpayment! What's troubling is that these discrepancies were not identified or corrected by the office. I had to do the reconciliation myself and bring it to their attention. After submitting detailed documentation, including a very detailed and thorough spreadsheet, persistent follow ups and ultimately escalated to take legal action until I finally received a partial refund, well beyond the expected timeframe. Even now, the amount is not fully resolved, and $252 remains in dispute. When billing discrepancies of this size only come to light after a patient conducts their own detailed audit--and then require weeks of pressure to partially correct--it raises serious questions about billing accuracy and internal oversight. Also want to note that they require full payment for procedures up front and don't take in account estimated insurance proceeds. As a result, I ended up over paying by more than $10k! What makes this whole situation worse is that I used to really like this office, had a lot of trust and respect for them but the way I've been treated ever since I started questioning the charges has done a complete 180. They consistently made me feel like a burden and the "bad guy". They did not take accountability at all for the issue and continue to argue with me with no substantial back up. Regarding the actual dental work I received - when I went in to switch out my temporary crowns to the permanent ones (I got crowns on almost all my top teeth), I really didn't like them and weren't like the temporary ones I was wearing for a few weeks. I was almost in tears trying to advocate for myself before they permanently cemented them. They made me feel bad for sending them back, I'm so glad I got the courage to speak up and not accept something I did not like. Ultimately after the second visit, they ended up looking really good but after everything I've dealt with recently, I certainly won't be returning. Who knows how much they overcharged me since 2019 when I first started coming here! If you chose to go to this office, please make sure to pay close attention to your patient charges and the amount they submit to your dental insurance (they should match)! If they owe you a refund, Florida recently based a law that makes it unlawful for healthcare providers to hold onto amounts owed to patients for overpayments over 30 days.
