I recently bought a home and hired Mike Elko to do the inspection. I was, admittedly, completely…read moreoverwhelmed by how much money I was spending before I even closed! Of everything, though, this inspection was excellent value for the money, and a fantastic investment in a home I love. I was early, but so was Mike; he had already walked around the home a few times, and took some pictures, and identified a few issues that should be cleared up before closing. He really took his time, and is meticulously thorough, which I really appreciated. I learned a lot about a house's various systems from him, as well as the details of my specific home. He sent me a very detailed report a few days later - via the USPS, and an emailed PDF. I'm really grateful for his time and expertise; he made me feel confident about my purchase and has saved me money in the long run. I highly recommend him - he's worth every penny.

I arrived at the home 5 minutes after our scheduled appointment time, and Mike had already been up on the roof snapping pictures and visually inspecting the structure! He was very knowledgeable on all of the appliances and fixtures within the home, including the oil burner, hot water heater, electrical wiring, etc. I walked through the home with him for the inspection (which took about 3 hours), but in that time, I felt like I had lived there for years and knew everything I needed to know before purchasing the home - he even offered tips for making small improvements to the home. If you are in the market for a home inspection, you MUST call Mike Elko. The price is beyond fair and the work is outstanding.

All the major issues that Mr Dave Moore missed on our home inspection in May。we paid around $995…read morefor the inspection that he only found things that I can even pick out as a first time home buyer. He missed 1. Asbestos tiles. 2 mold on closet ceiling caused by leaking pipe and the pipe is still leaking. 3, possible asbestos siding that he didn't mention about having it tested. After closed the house we keep discovering new problems one after another. Don't recommend this company

Avoid at all costs. SUPER BAD inspection quality. PERIOD !!!…read more Really poor inspection job that is now going to cost me thousands to repair. 1. Missed obvious signs of roof leakage, conformed by professional roofer. 2. Missed spotting missing shingles on roof. Inspector never went up on roof and performed visual inspection from ground using binoculars 3. Missed signs of water leakage from roof in attic, even though he inspected attic. 4. Missed spotting mildew under the kitchen sink 5. Missed spotting mildew on master bathroom window. 6. Missed a leak under kitchen sink. 7. Missed minor gas leakage on furnace in basement .. I detected it the day I moved in. 8. Mistook cinder block ventilation weep holes in basement for termite protection bores, sending me on a wild goose hunt with seller. When approached owner, rather than owning up to a botched inspection, he kept threatening me that legally the inspection agreement does not hold him accountable for inspection issues. Confrontational attitude, and putting a spin on the issue e.g.- for example, he tried to tell me the roof leak is due to a crack in the vent boots that was identified in the report. The roof leak and the vents are on two totally different planes of the roof, and ignoring the fact about visible water marks. Penny wise pound foolish ... is all I can say. You pay $550 for inspection to catch the stuff that could cost you thousands. Their inspectors are good at identifying the obvious and petty stuff ... bulb not working, flush not draining water properly, etc. As other reviewer said ... owner is RUDE and and a BULLY. Save yourself the aggravation and get quality inspectors. Your home is the most important and expensive purchase you will make. Having quality home inspectors is important to securing your investment. Avoid bulk franchisee operations like Pillar-2-Post and go with some real local pros. Contrary to the response the owner is bound to provide to my, do not believe his spin.

Steve came out to Middletown to inspect an old colonial we were looking at, and eventually purchased. He couldn't be more professional, impressing both my wife and I along with the sellers agent. His report and pictures were extremely thorough and he seemed more then happy to explain exactly what he was looking for and why it was significant. He was not apprehensive to crawl into every spot and definitly left that inspection with a bit of sweat on him. I really feel like I got my monies worth and walked away with peace of mind. I would definitly recommend this company again. Ask for Steve. Thanks from the Garretts in Middletown.
