After transferring both of our kids out of Leland High School because of disappointments at every…read moresingle turn, we found total relief at VCHS. Valley is without any doubt, a very special place. From the administration, top down, through all of the faculty, you are dealing with the top of the top. If you want your child to experience a second-to-none curriculum, an environment where your child's educational experience is the primary reason VCHS exists, a place where teachers actually care, then you have found your school. There is a constant feeling that the success of your child is what makes this school tick, not to thoughtlessly rubber stamp kids on to the next day. Our family has experienced 2 other local public high schools, and frankly, both are on a distant moon in comparison. If your child is the top of their class in public school, you're in luck. But for everyone else, "don't bother me, it's your problem" seems to be the motto there. Just the opposite here, as I get the feeling it's "tell us how we can help you be the best person, in every way you can imagine, you can ever be".
Our daughter has been challenged by athletics, academics, and yes spiritually, to be molded into a young adult we can be very proud of. Is your school doing this? Does your school foster, actively pursue making your child better, or are you simply hanging on and hoping? Are you proud of your school? Do the students like it? Are they happy, are they willing to support it? We never were before, now we are at Valley.
Our kids get one shot at high school, very formative years. There is so much at stake these days: choices, behavior, friends, etc. Is it worth the risk somewhere else? Why settle on their future?
If I could, VCHS gets 6/5 stars!!
