Many activities in this school. Got my grades up right after I switched schools to this one.

DO NOT ATTEND IF YOU CAN. Deeply disappointing experience that the teaching staff, administration,…read moreand students all played a role in. The pre-pandemic experience was good but the post-pandemic experience was extremely poor. Was physically assaulted on the basis of my sexuality and administration had asked me to be as quiet about the situation to avoid controversy. Administration would constantly bother students over extremely minor things such as completing work outside during the tutorial period or sitting in a car during the lunch or snack break. (I have heard the micromanaging has gotten significantly worse after I left.) Teachers are generally mediocre or genuinely uninterested in teaching; I was interested in pursuing computer science but I found that to be challenging since in my introductory computer science course, my computer science teacher would only teach for 15 minutes during two hour block periods before spending the rest of the time playing computer games. Felt extremely uncomfortable when a teacher seemingly accidentally made a joke calling a dark-skinned student "three-fifths of a student." One teacher has had a history of predatory behavior to young women, even minors, but still continues to teach. Student culture is also poor. Being around these students will motivate you to be successful as they are very driven but there is a toxic competitive culture where students feel like they need to one-up each other in order to succeed. Lots of explicit racism towards black and hispanic people (if you are part of these demographics I highly suggest not coming here) and undertones of racism as some students only prefer being close to students of their own ethnicity / race. Leland comparatively has significantly less resources to other high schools in the area of similar academic caliber. Affluent & competitive students use outside resources such as expensive tutoring services and college counseling to fulfill their academic goals, creating a gap between students who are able to and actively use these resources and students who don't (important to consider as in the college application process, you directly compete with these students.) Leland may or may not be a place where you can succeed and thrive depending on the type of person you are. However, it will likely not be a space where you feel happy or comfortable if you do not conform to the dominant demographics of the school. If you are a parent looking to buy or rent a home in this area with the allure of the "great schools nearby" I strongly suggest you look elsewhere.

I just have to write a recommendation for Almaden Country Day Schoo!. We have been there for 2…read moreyears and have had a GREAT experience. They came highly recommended and I was obviously looking for a school with academics as a priority. Math and Language Arts are THE integral part of the school day. I feel confident my child will be more than ready for the most prestigious high schools. One hundred percent of this year's graduating 8th graders applying to private high schools were accepted I just heard. Wow. The hands on Science program and "Maker's Space"(which teaches children coding, robotics, 3D printing, electronics, etc.) are both phenomenal and I cannot say enough about their Art, Music, P.E., Theater, Foreign Language and Library programs. The difference however, with ACDS is its focus on each child. The moment I enrolled I knew I was entering my child into knowledgeable hands under caring and dedicated teachers that would encourage his gifts as well as continuing with academic rigor. Whether it be their after school sports or enrichment programs as well as the over 40 electives in middle school, he would find "his" path. Since that day, my child has broadened both in his academic knowledge and most importantly, his self confidence. He is an 4th grader and loves his school! The tenured teachers, under an exceptional Head of School, encourage self exploration and provide the opportunity for each child individually to find their path while still adhering to curriculum. No school is perfect and I am totally aware...but they ask. In a yearly survey we are asked, How are things? How can we do better? Does your child feel challenged and accepted? Do you feel a part of your child's education and development? Do you and your child feel a part of the community? (Along with much more!) Its other accolade is their TLC program which is one of the only specialized programs of its kind in the Bay Area. It provides 4:1 ratio for children who need small group education (within perimeters) in Math, Language Arts and Social Studies while integrating for other studies into the larger classroom experience in preparation for high school. It is a supportive environment with specially trained teachers that allows children to feel confident in their learning. My child has benefitted tremendously from this program while still feeling accepted within the larger program. ACDS has intentionally planned for seamless transitions within children's daily routines. I encourage anyone interested to go to their website or an open house and see for yourself. I encourage you to talk to other parents! Several! Or even the kids (whom by the way give the open house tours.). Your school choice is a big decision I know. I was there. The more information the better so you can make the decision what is right for your child and your family. ACDS was the right choice for mine.

I accidentally went the wrong way, but there's no signs or anything painted on the ground to tell me I was going the wrong way. Some other car honked at me, then blamed their horn, and I couldn't reverse down what seem to be the one way road. I really wish they would've painted the road so I would have known ahead of time or at least had signs up letting me know ahead of time it was a one-way. Field is rather nice for football. Granted it's right next to the freeway so I really worry about the children/students exposure to gas and smog pollution. But this particular time we were inside for the wrestling tournament and they had five mats out in their gym. They also had two different Locker room areas for the students and a pretty decent PA system for the announcements. They also had a separate student center area where they were selling food. Everything was hot and fresh and the wrestling tournament went rather fast considering I've been to seven of them, and they all seem to take hours, this one was actually done around 4 PM! We got there at 6:30 AM, so I was really happy. I wasn't there until midnight like I was For the Santa Cruz tournament. Lol.

We move the the area and unfortunately my son had to attend this school not knowing this was going to turn into our worst nightmare it started all by my son getting bullied and the principal didn't do anything neither did MR.Rodriguez I contact them multiple times to let them know I even had to call San Jose police because my son was being punch, pinched and called all kinds off names by this fucker and they wouldn't do anything this kids took stuff from him and never returned it and one of the people at the office mention that one time I kid lost his backpack for more then a week also and they wouldn't do anything about it not to mention this kid lost this backpack by the same kids , it was all a group of 12/13 kids all together who were bulling. So I went to the district smh also lost a lot of days of work for nothing they didn't do anything they send me back to the principal to try to find a solution never did, she never reached out to me at all and when I decided to call sj police department she told them she had never heard of this problem before when I sat down in her office two times to "try to find the so cal solution". So I decided to not sent my kid to school as he didn't feel safe there at all I have pictures of all the text messages he sent me saying "mom I wanna go home I don't feel safe here this kids hits me every time he sees me" also have the police report and all that is included. TODAY the graduation day they could notify me that my son could participate in the graduation ceremony not to mention my son struggled alot with his grades going down cus of this kid so after all this hard work at home with him home schooling and testing he did picked up his grades and all for them not to count him for the graduation ceremony. Thanks alot Mr.Rodríguez for not letting me know of this very important day that my son was not a part of it as they told me today at the office you mention my son but never called us to let us know so thanks for doing your so call job. hope your kids never go thru something like this. I'm glad school year is over this means our nightmare with David's has ended and I hope my son can recover and can move on from this trauma so he can continue a normal school year David's you have traumatized my son. never I'm my life I will let any of my family members come to your school. If I could rate you guys -10 I would definitely doit it.

I remember like it was yesterday when I went here running on the track around the school for cross country, but it has literally been a decade since I've gone here. Forming a team to spend a day in a tent on the track supporting Relay for Life with friends and strangers. I could remember dressing up for physical education through the purple doors with our lockers. Girls on the right side and boys on the left. Lining up on our numbers while Mrs. Staggs or Mr. Coleman or Mr. Carroll did attendance then telling us to go run the "Carroll Run" around the perimeter of the black top, to the track, the grassy area, and back to the beginning. I remember hanging out in the "quad" area with the cool kids during breaks and lunch. Getting in line for food right after we got out of class into either the cafeteria or outside to get snacks. It was really the carefree times. Many people may think Davis isn't a good school based on what they've heard, but teachers are wonderful. They really try to help you succeed and prepare you for high school. Many good and bad memories with great teachers here. Counseling and office staff were friendly. I was even was counseling assistant for a semester for Mr. Delcrew. I remember having Mr. Nichols/Mrs. Meier for language arts. Mr. Conwell for keyboarding class. Mrs. Williams for cooking. Mr. Morgan for piano. Mrs Lawrence/Mr. Weiler for science. Mrs. Flores for social science. Mr. Hughes for pre-algebra. Mrs. Bierman for algebra. Mrs. Shilov for history. Mrs. Perry/Ford for reading. Plenty of teachers I remember, but surely don't remember me since it has been 10 years or might not even be at the school anymore. I even remember getting detention for the most idiotic thing. It was a time when we weren't allowed to wear gang colors blue or red (probably worse now with all the mayhem happening or same rules apply), but also not allowed to have logos or pictures on our shirts. I had a baby blue shirt on with an angel in the center. I had to go to the office to change into a rather large ugly lost and found shirt. Embarrassing. Disgusting. Fun times. Worse memory was stopping class for several periods to watch television in class while 9/11 happened in New York. It was just a shocking and devastating moment in our lives. Overall, I miss it! Back in the day when we had no worries. Now from time to time, I utilize the track running.

This school is not for my child. She had depression back then of learning, maybe it was difficult,…read moremaybe the way the teacher gave her hard time, she tended to plug her hair, doing fingers movements while sitting. Her grade was not good, school did not helping, told to get tutor outside. When the second grade teacher reported about her problems, she kept her eyes rolling, the way she did made me felt she looked down on us. One day, my daughter was supposed in infront of the class to speak about famous character, she supposed to wear costume, but I did not buy it on time. The teacher called to send her home at 11:00 am without letting her to stay and learn performance from other kids. Teacher said no need, " I will send you the video of others", but, I had not received any video. This is called discrimination or what? Why she not allow her to stay and learn. And that was it, I changed school. This school I had to pay money, returned nothing. My daughter had much help and improvement when she went to Rocketship. They can provide one on one help, later group help. They use different method somehow my daughter grade went up, no more plugging hair, no more stressing movement. She is fine now with As abd Bs. Again, this school is not for slow students, they don't have patience to deal with them. Period.
