Brian Janey from Allegro piano service has been tuning pianos in the area for many years. It has actually been decades. He is a great guy and knows pianos. He cares about your piano and knows what he's doing. You can feel safe and secure in the fact that he knows how to absolutely care for your piano. Allegro piano service It's a little bit more expensive than some other piano tuners but you get what you pay for. I have had other companies tune my pianos and I can honestly say that Brian is superior to the others. We will continue to use Brian to care for our Baldwin grand piano for as long as he is working. I have complete faith in his competency and experience. I want to also mention that he plays the piano beautifully. read more

My previous piano tuner technician retired so I asked for a referral for someone in my area who does good work. Brian was the tech I was sent to, along with another. I was always happy with the tuner who took care of my instruments for about 20 years so their endorsement was important to me. Using the online scheduling system I made an appointment about a month or so out since it was the soonest available. There were follow up e-mails and confirmation of the day and time and Brian showed up on schedule. Since I know enough about pianos to be dangerous we had a conversation about what I needed from this service, go over my wishes from my first e-mail and clarify what my priorities were. A piano like mine that has not been serviced in a long time did have other problems that were diagnosed quickly and solutions were offered that could be done easily and with a minimum of additional charges to the total bill. Tuning, regulating the action and voicing the hammers made a big difference, plus all the little things I asked for got taken care of. I knew from experience that this was going to take some time which in turn meant it would cost more than "just a tuning." I have no gripes about the bill. Bottom line: you get what you pay for and this servicing resulted in a playable piano that I can enjoy rather than one that collects dust and is a nice place to display family photos. read more

WOW is all I can say. Brian did such a good job on my piano after a disappointing experience with another local tuner. He cleaned the inside and outside of the piano, adjusted the damper pedal, tuned it perfectly and even softened up the hammers and the piano sounds as beautiful as the day I bought. He is worth the wait for an appointment and his prices are more than fair. He is a true professional and is very skilled. I highly recommend Brian. He is honest and a really nice guy. I could not be happier with his service. Definitely worth waiting for an appointment. I would give him 10 stars if I could. read more

It pains me to write a negative review about a local business, but based on our experience, Brian is either extremely inexperienced or simply a crook - out to take advantage of the inexperienced, elderly and new piano owners. Unfortunately we do not see another explanation for what we experienced after scheduling a piano tuning with Allegro Piano Service. Yes, the prices are double what you would get from other local tuners. However, after reading the positive reviews, we thought it would be a small price to pay for the right service. We had Brian of Allegro Piano Service come out to tune our recently purchased (used) piano. Immediately upon arrival, he notified us that he didn't realize our piano was a Young Chang Piano. And that it would likely need new action brackets - apparently a common issue with Young Chang pianos from the 90's where the original action brackets expand causing the action hammers to stick. He proceeded with removing the piano action to inspect it and confirmed that our piano could not be tuned without replacing the action brackets, a service that costs $2,500-3,000 and requires him to take our piano action back to his service center to work on for 3 to 4 weeks. We were completely heart-broken to hear that "we made the worst mistake of our lives" purchasing this awful and faulty piano that's not worth anything and suggested donating or selling it for "whatever we could get for it" to a piano shop. He recommended a shop he knows and said they would help us invest $5,000 to $6,000 into a "good" piano. When we told him we'd consider it and get back to him, he ended up charging us for an on-site evaluation ($185) and left. Later that week I started researching action brackets and found a local company that sells them for $24/bracket for a total of $96. Youtube videos promised an easy step-by-step guide on replacing them, but we thought we'd try other local piano tuners for an estimate. To our surprise we found out that it costs about $250 to replace the action brackets (on-site) and takes an hour or two; plus another hour of tuning which would be an additional $150. Total cost of repair would not exceed $450-500. We were extremely relieved and scheduled an appointment with the new tuner the same week. But here's where it gets interesting.. When the new tuner showed up and proceeded with the action brackets replacement, he quickly realized that the original brackets had already been replaced. It took all of 20 minutes to make the proper adjustments, then a couple of hours to tune and clean our beautiful Baby Grand for a total cost of $350. He then played some Beethoven for our daughter, complemented us on a beautiful purchase, wished a good evening and was on his way. No more sticky hammer action! The action brackets that Allegro Piano recommended are still sitting in the box, unused. But I supposed we are relieved to know that we made a good purchase and did not end up getting scammed out of $2,500 - $3,000 for service that was simply not necessary. We couldn't help to think about all of the inexperienced and naive folks out there that might have fallen victim to a similar tactic. Hopefully sharing our experience will help others avoid the pitfalls we almost experienced with Allegro Piano Service. read more

Brian just did an assessment on my 100-year old Werner piano that was water damaged. He did a very thorough review of the condition and prepared a letter describing the history of this type of piano and the intricate details that are necessary to make it function again. Even though it's going to be a very expensive fix, I appreciated his honesty, his detailed approach, his responsiveness, and expediency in preparing his assessment letter for me. I would highly recommend using Allegro Piano Service, and I would use him again in a heart beat! A great job done with enthusiasm! read more

Brian at Allegro Piano Service has been tuning my piano for years with consistently great results. He spends the time needed to get the tuning dead on and will notice and take care of little things I wasn't aware of. The action was getting stiff on my grand and it was hard to play quietly so Brian reconditioned my piano and now the subtleness is back. The difference was night and day. He is an expert who is always expanding his knowledge. You will be very pleased you had Brian take care of your piano. read more

Brian has been tuning our baby grand Schimmel piano for over 10 years. He is professional and highly knowledgeable about pianos and tuning pianos. Over the 30 years of having our piano, I have had several piano tuners. None have compared to the abilities and care Brian takes with our piano. I noticed some reviews mentioned the time Brian takes with caring and tuning the piano. I want to say "Thank you, Brian, for the time and effort you spend on our piano." You keep it in the perfect shape we expect our Schimmel to be in. I highly recommend Brian to care for any piano. read more

Compared to other tuners, takes much longer to tune a piano. Also charges twice as much. Also upsells products (like $15 for a small bottle of "piano spray"). He's not a bad tuner, but you can find other piano tuners that can do the same (or better) job for less. Would not recommend Allegro. read more

Allegro Piano Service came highly recommended from a friend. The owner went WAY out of his way to help me. Thanks just isn't enough.

I can't remember how many years Brian has been taking care of my piano which I have owned for a long long time, but it has been a lot of years. I had several piano tuners over the previous years before I discovered Brian, but none of them even comes close to the high quality and professionalism that I see when Brian comes to tune my piano. I don't hesitate in highly recommending Allegro Piano Service. read more
