The promotion stated that up to three purchases per person can be made every 90 days. I contacted the academy to schedule my teen daughter's first lesson and Ryan called back. I informed him that I wanted to schedule four lessons for my daughter. He told me that the promotion on the discounted site was incorrect (something he was trying to fix but has been unsuccessful) and that I could only use one voucher. The second voucher I purchased could be used towards a regular class at full price. I agreed and scheduled the two discounted lessons. After the last lesson, I wanted to schedule the next two and final lessons. Ryan sent an invoice for a regular lesson with a higher rate than his website stated and an additional $25 for a registration fee (the regular fee for lessons was increased in April but the website had not been updated). I questioned the registration fee considering two lessons only cost $36 and my daughter wasn't a regular student and would not continue lessons with him. He stated, "A registration fee applies to every student, regardless if they take one class or 10 classes. Once the student begins to take regular classes, they are considered registered, hence why the registration fee." I told him instead to just honor the promotion on the website and it would be our last lesson. He told me he couldn't honor it and only one discount "is able to be applied to each student. The second discount was applied as a credit to discount the first invoice." I told him I didn't want to proceed and had already received a refund from the other website. My experience with Ryan has not been satisfactory for the above reasons. I felt that he was definitely misleading with the pricing and unorganized with the scheduling of the lessons. I must admit that my daughter did say Ryan was a good instructor but wanted lessons with other instructors to find a better fit. I wanted to give him a lower rating but didn't because of my daughter's experience with him. I also wish he would post samples of his singing on the website so that potential customers can have an idea of his vocal ability.

This is a wonderful school located in one of the best wine shops in town. The in-person classes are structured very well and encourage student engagement. When it comes to the daunting Level 3 course, Lee made sure all of his students were more than prepared to handle the exam. There is a tasting practice exam offered as well with an additional cost. Plenty of additional resources such as class recordings, session notes, weekly quizzes and more are provided to Level 2 and 3 students. Slate Wine Academy has an outstanding team. I did at first and became discouraged, which created a stressful environment for my child at home. But then I quickly realized that every child learns differently and at different times and that is OK. 1 star because there's none whatsoever loyalty or appreciation. You're just a dollar sign. Their policies are rigid and they refuse to work with you in any way. They rather lose your business altogether than try to work with you. Obviously every place has policies, I'm not arguing that but simple things such as picking your child up one minute (literally one minute) late only one time in 2 years....or increasing pricing last minute because they decided to implement an unreasonable summer schedule. There's just no real sense of appreciation or loyalty there. And that's important too. I would have paid had they handled it better, but they didn't. I never got an apology for the inaccurate information I was given, not even a reply to my email to them. Nothing. Says a lot when a business is willing to lose you as a customer altogether rather than work with you. Unfortunate because I was a loyal customer for 3+ years.

When you walk in immediately to your right is seating so you can change into your dance shoes. There are wood floors throughout and mirrors on the wall. The dance floor is not too slick but still is smooth enough to dance on. There is a back room which they used when I was there to sell water and Gatorade. This is the smaller studio but we were able to fit a lot of people inside of it. The student does not have a specific designated area for the DJ. However the DJ was able to set up and not encroach upon the dance floor. It was a good event the studio is nicely decorated.

Since there are a few restaurants within walking distance and many just a short drive away, it allows for a great evening of dinner and dancing. They offer such a variety of classes so it's easy to always learn something new.
