The layout is backwards compared to the Troy location but they also have a few more amenities, like a juice bar, which is cool. One of the nice desk people showed me where the locker rooms were too, which was good. There's lots of parking too and I had less of a walk to the front door which was also nice. I'd come back to this location when in the Warren area.

They have lots of machines, it's much bigger on the inside than it looks on the outside. All the…read morebasic cardio machines are included such as treadmills, bikes, and ellipticals. Also weight machines, free weights, and then a circuit-type training area. You can ask for help in using them or they also have instructions for use on the machine itself. They do have the "lunk alarm" as they advertise in commercials and I've been there when they've used it. It was kind of funny to hear, and appropriately used. Seriously, nobody needs to hear you grunt and yell and drop weights! There are paper towels and bottles to wipe down the machine and it seems to get used. However my husband says that the bathrooms can get dirty because people done clean up after themselves and maybe the staff doesn't get to it as often as they should. They have hand dryers there but for some reason there are paper towels all over on the floor. I don't notice this in the women's locker room.

The new location that allowed me in, called to tell me I wasn't allowed back…read moreeven though corporate told me I could continue going to that location even during the "investigation" because this location called and told them not to let me in. It's been our wallyball meetup spot on Saturday mornings at 10am for years. Entry is only $6 for…read morethe day at the front desk and with a name sign up. They have over 20 racquetball courts that we use for wallyball. The courts are a bit dilapidated and the tiles are coming off, but still functional and reasonable for Saturday morning games. The place overall could use an update but that's not my place on how they use their fees from visitors. They have a lounge area in the center with couches, chairs and tables that work for pre-game meetups and some socializing after our games too. Upstairs they have the woman's locker and bathroom. The men's is on the first floor. The workout machines don't work, more for decoration. I think most people come here only to be play in the courts.

I wanted to find a date night for my husband's birthday and I got bored of dinner and movies. So I…read morehad a classic bad idea: "Hey, we haven't danced since our wedding! I LOVE dancing! Let's try dancing again! OK, maybe dancing isn't HIS favorite activity, but I'm the one scheduling it, right? What choice does he have?" This birthday outing was basically a bowling ball with the name Erin on it. A did a quick web search and found that on Friday nights, the Dance Scene has an hour lesson on a short routine within a style followed by a dance party (they're separate admission fees but can be combined - we paid for both). On date night, we arrived about ten minutes late to find the group working on an International Rumba routine, meaning, we were desperately lost and unprepared*. Since we couldn't follow the routine steps and the other people there were having some success, my husband didn't feel comfortable or happy staying for the dance party afterward. This was HIS birthday outing, after all, so I buried my disappointment and we decided to leave and find another activity. Anna the owner noticed we were having trouble keeping up and she was kind enough to offer us a free private lesson to make up for our bad experience (which, again, was totally our fault by virtue of arriving late!!). I didn't expect my husband to be interested, but we took her up on her offer and had a great time re-learning some basics of foxtrot and swing styles, and practicing our form. Our "frame" is pretty flimsy and our stride lengths probably never match, but I think we've improved! I'm personally excited to go back for another group lesson (though I might be going by myself... I'll just introduce myself to one of the silver foxes without a partner! Don't tell my husband). In regards to the private lesson: as a professional classical musician and private teacher of same, I've experienced hundreds of lessons from both the teacher and student perspective. I've got many friends and colleagues who teach as well, and whose methods (and results) I've observed firsthand. I've taught and been taught enough to know that, for learning efficiency and depth of subject knowledge, instruction must be tailored to the student. This probably sounds trite; ALL teachers would say that they tailor instruction to the needs of each student. MOST teachers, from my experience, don't tailor instruction. I wish I was better at it, myself. It's the hardest part of teaching. From a lesson alongside my husband, I observed that Anna does that gear-switching with the best of them. I can't recommend her services highly enough - literally, I'm not an experienced enough dancer to give her an objective professional review on how good a dancer she is. But I CAN give this review as one teacher to another: Anna is champion of pedagogy. *In regards to the group lessons being too advanced for us, Anna did assure us that they usually have two instructors in a group class and try to accommodate different dancing levels in the same evening to the extent possible. We came in too late and on the wrong night (her co-instructor had an outside commitment).

If it was possible to give less than 1 star I would! This alleged trainer breached his contract and…read morein the process stole from me! When I realized after "working out" with him I had GAINED WEIGHT & GAINED INCHES, obviously not what I hired him for, he suggested I work out with his wife (who BTW is bigger than me). Even if "I had breached the contract" he would ONLY be able to sue for %25 of the total, minus the 15 PREPAID sessions he bartered with me for, yet he has sent to collections the whole amount THAT HE BREACHED! All this in consideration he also sexually harassed me during his sessions (I have witnesses) & although trying to let it go, I'm no longer in the forgiving nature. I have started receiving collection calls from Trans World Systems simply because he CAN NOT & DOES NOT know how to preform the job he claims to offer. I will be filing a law suit in the morning for his breach & the ensuing harassment he created. Don't be fooled, his prices are cheap for a reason! Because he can not preform or simply does not want to preform the contract! (By the way Keegan, if the big words scare you I'm sure your girl can show you how to find a dictionary.) I'm also receiving emails & phone calls everyday from women who have had similar if not worse experiences with this "Trainer" & his Wife. So it's not just me! He thinks I'm upset because I didn't "reach my goal", but after stopping his training & doing it on my own without his hands all over me, I lost all the weight I had intended to. The point is... I'm upset because he IS NOT a reputable trainer and tries to put his hands where they don't belong! If you've had a problem with this trainer please email through yelp.
