Poor maintenance - 5 months later, no top soil or grass. Granite base broken.

Re: Allegheny County Memorial Park I am livid! My experience with burying my parents in their pre-purchased plots in the Allegheny County Memorial Park (Allison Park, PA) over the past three years has been nothing but complete disgust with the attention to details and quality of the memorial park upkeep. My experiences: · 2019, September - My mother was placed in the left-hand plot, not to the right of a double plot for a husband and wife. I did not realize this until the headstone was placed months later. Judy showed me the paperwork that I signed off. I would not have been aware that I was signing for the wrong burial location - shouldn't this be the responsibility of the cemetery staff to be certain my mother was assigned to the correct plot? Judy said she would look into it. Never heard back. · 2021, December - My father was buried in December. Due to another at grave service, the maintenance staff was not available to seal and lower the vault while my family was present. My father was 98 and there were only a few people in attendance. When I returned in February, the grave marker was placed and only rough dirt on the plot (rocks and all). · 2022, May -- I returned to find the gravestone broken, my father's death date not added, and nothing done to level the site and plant grass. After much complaining, Dan the Sales Manager, made things right within the week. The graver marker was replaced with a new base and the site was planted with grass. I would NOT RECOMMEND this cemetary for burying loved ones - it adds sadness to your loss!

This is what the floor looks like! It's disgusting!

We made mausoleum burial arrangements with Nicole and Jeff. They thoroughly explained and walked us through the selection process.

I'd give this a negative if I could. Sadly, I loved this place as a child. Dating to 1901, it was…read moreonce beautiful. It's in horrible shape, with no sign of care to improve it. In the 1960s-early '70s, the Memorial Day parade was great fun for we kids as we pedaled our decorated bikes in the parade along Mt. Royal to the cemetery. Of course, we didn't understand the solemnity of the day. The cemetery was well cared for, the Moses Fountain functioned and had lovely landscaping around it, and many times we'd ride our bikes along the narrow hilly lanes. Mom died in 2006, and I noticed then that the back of the Mausoleum was in terrible shape. Dad died in 2016 -- no improvements. Last time I was there to tend to my parents' grave, I was outright appalled at the disrepair. The Fountain, long dry, with weed trees growing up around it; the Mausoleum -- the original an Art Deco beauty, is apparently now condemned (what of the loved ones, including vets, interred inside?!), no water for fresh flowers, and some lanes are mere rubble. Whoever owns the cemetery now (Kyper?) overcharges like crazy (and has been at least since 2006, our first encounter while traumatized by Mom's sudden death in an auto accident) -- it's an abomination. We learned this when my father died here in eastern PA and we compared prices with a Funeral service that does NOT charge by commission - we only paid the Glenshaw cemetery to open/close Dad's spot for the urn we purchased here, and they gave us a VERY hard time about it. Thank God we had good guidance from our local professional. This Memorial Day it's important to express gratitude to those who served and even gave their lives. It's also important to show reverence for their - and everyone's - resting place by demanding decent upkeep. Apparently right now for the owners (Kyper?) it's about big profits. For shame.

Something is fishy about the flower situation, he donates them to charity. Shouldn't the family decide what gets donated! Some flowers were never even put out! Lots of shaky things with my experience many lies! He is very nice and the facility is nice but doesn't know a thing about his job or the paper work and legalities. Find another place to go, find someone who knows what they are doing. Especially at a sad time, you need direction and guidance, you will not find it here. Also, his voice mail is always full and you cant get thru the funeral home! Death certificates can be picked up in Pgh., the next day. You dont have to wait 3 weeks! The list goes on!!!!!

I want to highlight how genuinely remorseful he was for our loss, and how kind he was. Matt was also so kind, helping me hook up my slideshow for my Gram, and assisting us. Every detail was really thoughtful, including a special charm Nick gave my mother and I at the end that is cut in half, one piece to stay with my grandmother & one with us. They checked in on us at the perfect times, asking if we needed coffee or water. They greeted all of our family and gave their condolences. Perhaps the most touching aspect was how Nick helped us get my Grammy home. There was an issue back home in CA with her death certificate (nothing to do with Alfieri, it was her doctors), and she almost did not make it back to PA, her final resting place. Thank you Nick and Matt, truly. You gave my Mom, her brother, and our whole family peace and closure with your services.
