I will never forget the kindness Szal showed me during one of the hardest experiences of my life…read more When I lost my baby, Estelle, I was grieving more than I knew how to put into words. What meant so much to me was that Szal treated her like she mattered. They gave me the opportunity to name my baby, to acknowledge that she existed, and to grieve her with dignity and compassion. Today, I received a letter from Szal about grief, and it honestly brought me to tears. It reminded me that someone remembered that I was a mother who lost her baby--not just another patient or another case. Sometimes the smallest acts of compassion mean everything. Szal gave me something I desperately needed during that time: the feeling that Estelle mattered, and that my grief mattered too. I am deeply grateful for the care, compassion, and humanity they showed my family and my baby. Thank you for giving me the chance to say her name, to honor her, and to grieve her. Estelle will always be my baby, and I will always remember the people who treated her with kindness.

From the direction and the autonomy, they made me feel confident in every decision I made for my dad. Great thought and care were given to ensure my dad's makeup and darker skin tone were perfectly matched. They steam pressed my dad's clothing and did an amazing job trimming his hair and beard. My dad looked just like my dad...only sleeping peacefully. I'm not that great at remembering names but Mike's mom is the sweetest jewel and she always checked on my wellbeing. I want to thank you for your reasonable pricing and value fit perfectly for us. Mike, mom, and the rest of the Szal family...thank you for everything! Service held 6/5/26

There were a lot of people involved in the arrangements and we are a verbose bunch but he didn't miss a beat. He organized the information we gave him in such a seamless manner. I was offered resources for grieving resources if needed. The value for direct cremation was great, it was cheaper than expected. He was NOT in the least consoling or comforting at a time that is so deeply hurtful. He only added to my stress. A meeting with him to address these issue was met with distant and some inane explanations for his actions. At no time did he offer any semblance of an apology. Subsequent meeting with the owner was very much respectful and empathetic to my dismay and anger at Jeff's demeanor. There is a problem with communication policy/practice at Slater's. Events must be conveyed to bereaved individuals in a thorough and specific manner. This led to much confusion and stress for me. My husband had a grey/black mustache which became a black smudge for his viewing. I could understand if there was an accident but just be honest. Slater's as whole was good BUT the Funeral Director needs to find another career choice. Simply believe he has been doing this for 30 plus years and lacks empathy and common courtesy when interaction with his customers. Truly truly a sad state.
