I think the best section is the home goods/ gift section. They have some cute, reasonably priced items like wall hangings, candles, and decorative dishes. I got a $4 ring dish this year. It is a good place to shop for little gifts. We did have an odd experience this year. My mom and I were carrying around some decorative dishes (one each) we wanted to get while we kept looking, and employee walked up to us and asked if she could please hold them at the register. I think some stores along the boardwalk are having trouble with shoplifting, but the interaction was a bit uncomfortable.

Yes, it was made out of felt-like material and had an over-the-top band of sparkles on it, but it was perfect! And the price was great. They can really rip you off at these types of places, and I actually felt like I got a good deal. My friend and I also scoped out the jewelry section and were impressed. Some of it was a little gaudy for my tastes, but they actually had some decent finds (obviously nothing real, but hey, still looks nice). And all jewelry, including watches, was $10. So cheap! I ended up buying a great little watch that was silver and black and pretty stylish. I didn't look too closely at the wine selection, but that looked pretty decent, too. Overall, I was pretty impressed with this gift shop!

In a perfect world you would try and avoid coming here as the prices are whack and the only way you should consider anything here a "deal" would be if you make the mistake to try and buy it on the boards. My sister in law bought four beach towels and a beach bag here and dropped a Benjamin in the process. I mean sure there were some cheaper towels but of course they had a thickness that bordered on being translucent. If you're of an old enough vintage and can remember going to a Woolworth or a similar 5 & 10 then the initial old funk odor when you walk in the front door will bring back many memories. If you're rental is nearby and you don't mind paying extra for one or two things then I suppose Hoy's isn't too bad but if you need a laundry list of things then make the trip out to Target in Mays Landing. While not as unique or funky as Hoy's it's also a hell of a lot less $$$.
