There were MANY issues with my move. Secondly, several items that *did* make it were damaged in the move. Doors broken off cabinets, drawers with missing handles, etc. Thirdly, walls were gashed & scraped in both the move-out & move-in location. Fourthly, and most importantly, the job is incomplete. I explained to BOTH representatives that I spoke to on the phone, multiple times, that in addition to the big items we discussed, I had a great deal of medium-to-small items that we were in the process of sorting through at the time, that I'd like to add to the move the day of. I was told, again by both representatives multiple times, that it would be 100% possible to add as many things as necessary for an additional fee, which the movers would be able to quote me the price for on the spot. I expressly told them to send a large truck & many movers for this exact reason. (I was quoted for a large truck rental & 4 movers. Quick aside; issue 4.5 is that only 2 movers showed up). When the movers arrived, I was shown my list of items, several of which I had discussed on the phone, were not present. Then, when I asked about adding items, I was told outright that it was impossible, as they were doing multiple jobs that day & there wouldn't be enough room, despite the large truck I was charged for being very obviously completely empty. There was no room for negotiation. Due to this, more than half of the items in my home that I was fully counting on being moved and somewhat accounted for in the quote, are sitting in the middle of my living room, as we tried to collect everything to make it easier on the movers. I was directly lied to on the phone, twice. I was lied to by the movers. My move is not even 50% completed, and yet I still had to pay the original price, with only a slight deduction for the missing list item. If they had moved everything, and the price was greater because of the additions, I'd be happy to pay, but they only moved seven things, forgot one, damaged others, took longer than quoted, and still charged me $1000. This is absolutely unacceptable. Not only would I NEVER encourage others to use this service, but I will now be going out of my way to actively *discourage* anyone who's moving of even considering this company. So much so in fact, that this is my first Yelp review ever. Absolutely terrible experience, couldn't be more displeased. The only positive thing I could mention was that the movers were very polite. The two that showed up, anyway. I plan on reaching out directly in the morning to get this situation resolved, otherwise I'll be filing a charge-back through my credit card company for fraud (which this absolutely was). DON'T USE THESE GUYS.

I have used Kelvin in the last five years to clean out three family properties and to conduct two whole-house moves. Then last move this past September was two, 55-foot and one, 20 foot tuck on a 170 mile move (see attached pic). The move was made even more challenging by the fact that it included a family member who has Alzheimer's, and needed to happen quickly and calmly to minimize disturbance to her routine. The team, as always, was professional, meticulous, and careful. I have trusted my family's properties and possessions to Kelvin and Djuan and their team for almost 20 years. I have watched Djuan grow up and become a solid and trustworthy business owner and leader, and know his dad would be proud. I highly recommend Kelvin D and Sons!

However, the movers were an hour late and showed up with an extra person than I was not originally quoted. Which is fine, if it doesn't change my quote, but what I was charged ended up being expodentially higher than what I anticipated based on the quote. Especially since I moved a majority of my items before they arrived. I had most of the items already ready and took apart and put together my bed itself. I even assisted helping move what I had left by loading the smaller items in my car. I moved most of the items before they even arrived so they had really only had the heavy/bigger items that I couldn't take myself. There were also 30 minutes I couldn't even find the movers, even after calling them. I had moved 6 minutes down the road but it took them over 30 minutes to arrive. I had driven back, double checked they got everything, locked everything up, came back to the new place, and still waited another 15 minutes. So they were off somewhere unknown to me. This also lowered my trust in their service. When I asked for an itemized receipt so I could double check how I was being charged, I never heard from them again. If you do decide to use this company, you should know that the quality is excellent because they take care in how your items are moved, their professionalism and communication is great but you may hear them complaining if items are heavy. I think the funniest comment I heard from them was "Everything is heavy Up in this Crib". I would recommend ensuring someone is there the entire time to ensure you track when they leave and when they arrive at the new location and have them itemize the receipt before sending you the bill. A vague receipt won't do to make sure you aren't overcharged.

Pros: Very cheap rates, which should have been a warning…read moresign for me. Polite and courteous Very responsive prior to signing contract Cons: Very poor time management: they arrived consistently late on both days we had them scheduled for and the final move, estimated to take about 6 hours, took 14. That's right. Instead of 9 AM to 3 PM as originally planned, they arrived at 10:30 AM and did not leave until after midnight. I will not say they were finished at midnight because they also failed to move all of our things out of our home that we requested. Either desperately understaffed or having very poor understanding of requirements of proposed work; when coming to pack a 2300 sq ft house, they arrived with the owner and his wife as the sole staff to accomplish the job. They estimated they would be done in four hours; 6.5 hours later, they were nowhere near finished but decided they were done for the day. They returned the next day with a ten foot box truck, the owner, and two other people to move our things from one three story house into another, larger one. Bear in mind they had not even started disassembling our multiple bedframes and much of our stuff was totally unpacked. The truck proved hilariously inadequate for the task, and they ended up having to load and unload it three times while still ultimately leaving behind a significant portion of our belongings, a whole sofa, and much of our yard furniture. The initial crew of movers was reasonably careful and professional, if woefully outnumbered relative to the task. But as the day dragged on, and they made more and more trips between the two houses, the professional and competent movers started to disappear and be replaced by actual teenage children. I don't mean this metaphorically, actual HS students, one of which asked for our Wi-Fi password as he had to call his mom for permission to stay out late to finish the job. Eventually a crew of six movers were involved in the last trip of the box truck, but by then it was after midnight. Lack of care with our items: As a result of the crew being replaced as the night wore on less and less care was taken as the adults were replaced by children as above. Anything they could get their hands on and would fit into a box was thrown into boxes willy nilly. Hammers were put into boxes with unwrapped and loose glassware. Used toilet brushes were thrown in with linens. Ceramic statues were jammed in with unprotected glass lamps. No furniture pads were used at any point during the move and we lost three floor lamps, a bookshelf, and an antique desk to damage. They claimed about the later that they had concerns about being able to move it, which they conveniently did not share until the time came to unload it from the truck and they saw the damage they had already done to it. Curiously, they had no problems sharing their concerns in advance about a couch that would have been inconvenient to move and they had to be persuaded to leave in our old garage instead of in the middle of the yard. Several huge gouges were also made on our new hardwood floors by a couch being dragged across it by two people instead of waiting long enough to have a larger number of people try to lift it. We heard and saw this happen ourselves. Rather than roll up handwoven Persian rugs as part of the packing process, they left all of our carpets down while loading the trucks, with the result that all of them have extensive muddy footprints that we still haven't gotten out. Multiple dishware items were put in the same protective sleeves, sometimes as many as three drinking glasses in a sleeve meant for one. This is despite the fact that we had multiple cases worth of protective sleeves unopened after they finished the job. Similarly, boxes were dangerously overstuffed even though we had over two dozen unused boxes leftover at the end of the move. Possible theft: they moved the kitchen drawer in which we kept cash, and the bills in marked envelopes were all accounted for, but the crisp $100 bill at the bottom of the drawer disappeared en route. The owner denied personal knowledge and may have been truthful but this is the downside of going through eight different movers in a day. Difficulty following directions: we asked them not to bring anything stacked on a certain counter in our kitchen, so they also helpfully neglected to bring anything in any of the drawers or cabinets underneath that counter as well, including all of our silverware and mixing bowls. We asked them to only pack and bring items from shelving units in our basement, and so they scoured the basement and systematically brought everything we wanted them to leave behind. They also insisted on payment in advance before each stage of the work instead of when completed as initially agreed upon. In retrospect this is not at all surprising. Still seemed to expect a significant tip after all was said and done.
