Everyone was initially nice, but towards the end of the semester, I just realized it is that southern hospitality facade. I experienced low-grade racism/microaggressions from the students and teachers. I had a music theory teacher (I think her name was Rhoades) that said she got tired of me worrying about my complexion when I looked in the mirror. The room I had class in had a mirror as a wall, and I did look at myself when I initially walked into class because what person does not look at themselves when they see one. Why would I need to worry about my complexion? I was 14 and completely comfortable in my skin. That comment struck me as wrong, like I needed to be worried or insecure. The comments from the students were mainly insinuating that they were "surprised" that the white guys were drawn to me (note, this school is majority white). I just looked confused, like, is it because I am not white that you are surprised? I also got comments from the guys that were like tropical this and that because I am of Latino ethnicity. All in all, the students and staff do not have the greatest morals in my own experience. I transferred to East Paulding and it was SO much better. I did not experience anything like that from the staff or students. Must be the income that makes a difference in the morals....

I had dealt with staff members who were wrong, but overall things were made right. The band program was all but lost until Moses got Ms. Eddleman-Boyle who became both of my boys favorite teacher. The new leadership has definitely made changes for the better it seems. Teachers seem happier and while it is still a Middle School, as a parent I felt assured sending them there knowing they are in good hands.

The administrators are uncommunicative and don't actually talk to people - just send out emails, even when they are asked to please call numerous times. We had a little trouble figuring out how to cover the tuition and rather than work with me, call me or talk through options they dismissed me. My child has been crying every day of the new school year, emotionally distraught and has lost all confidence that had finally been gained. The leadership and board doesn't really care about the students just about the money and the mask they show the community. Unfortunately the reviews don't always tell about the people they kick to the curb.

As an alumna of NCCS, I can confidently say the school not only prepared me academically for…read morecollege and adulthood, but genuinely equipped me for life. The teachers and staff cared deeply about their students and constantly went above and beyond to support, encourage, and challenge us. I'm incredibly grateful for the environment they created. I always felt pushed to do my best while also feeling known and valued as an individual. The faculty invested so much of themselves into their students, and it showed in everything from the classroom experience to the relationships they built with us personally. As an adult now, I realize and admire how much the school emphasized character, faith, leadership, and integrity alongside academics. The lessons I learned extended far beyond my time there. No school is perfect, but I can honestly say my experience was overwhelmingly positive, and I will always be thankful for the teachers, mentors, and friends who made those years so meaningful. This school gave me a strong foundation and prepared me well for the next stage of life.

The administration have all known each other for years, and will make excuses/ back each other up no matter what. They make examples out of children who make mistakes while taking no accountability themselves. I graduated a few years ago and after having several years of true adulthood under my belt, I have yet to meet a more hypocritical, graceless, judgmental, group of people (And I work in healthcare). A majority of teachers hired are personal friends or friends of friends, regardless of qualification. Teachers children/ children whose parents donate are favored and it's very apparent, speaking from experience. If your child does not fit their mold, they will be treated as they as lesser than. I graduated with my faith hanging on by a thread. There are a very small handful of teachers there who I think stay to try to make a difference. I owe them everything.
