I understand restrictions but the resort is designed for people who live there full-time. The ones with full hook ups and built in decks. And if that's what you want this is beautiful. But if you just want a weekend getaway this may not be what you are looking for. There is only one bathroom facility and currently with the cleaning schedule we found there were times it was not accessible. And despite having facilities in my trailer I still prefer to use the provided ones. The resort also advertised trails and they were a joke at least for someone who wanted to go for a real walk. I was also very unimpressed with the check in process. I tried to take advantage of a deal on firewood but they processed my credit card too quickly - it just felt not friendly. Not like the oh so many RV resorts I've been to in the past. I tried something different when I went again- maybe you should too?

We ended up on the eastern end of the beach. The sand is quite nice around there. I saw some people had a volleyball net set up and once you comb the same for rocks and branches it was perfect for volleyball. The day we went was really windy so playing would be somewhat difficult. In the middle of the beach there's a rocky section which had more litter then other areas. I saw a family picking up some litter to keep the 'park' as clean as possible. I also saw some rock gardens previous beachcombers had created including a cluster in inukshuks that mimicked the city scape behind it. Close to the main entrance to the beach (the carved out stairs) there is a really nice sandy beach. The sand is quite fine grain that it packs hard but is still really nice on the feet. It's also raised from the river but it's closest to the construction dam that allowed this beach to exist. Now regarding the water... the rivers edge appeared to be clean and the water was quite nice but I've heard without a lot of rain recently there could be some unappealing bacteria in the water. There was a section of still water that had come off the river and it definitely had an odor that told you not to go there.

I really like the easy access to the beach/day area. There is parking so driving is always an option. It's great that is so close to Edmonton. Staff is ok, no time to chat at times due to constant maintenance and work. Grass is well kept, lots of washrooms almost everywhere which is great! The park has a beach which is busy, volleyball on the side and kids playground. There are change rooms nearby with a fairly clean washroom and water pump to rinse off. Boating on the docks near the beach. Trails that lead to other campgrounds but if your looking to camp you may need to book. RV, tenting, and they have yurt camping which looks amazing and it's on my list to try. Some sites are more difficult than others to set up a tent. The ground is just too packed down and rocky. And other sites I've been on haven't been an issue. Pit toilets and flush toilets. Day use area has the best cellular network connection. Depending on where your site is there is a high likelihood you won't have any. There is some sandy beachiness in the day use area, but you cannot swim in the lake. My favourite part is that it is a dark sky preserve. It's wonderful at night to watch the sky in the amazing quiet of nature.

This is a great place to go an lay out a towel for some sun tanning (and the pool is good for a dip too). The only downer about this place is its popularity, which - yes - adds to the ambiance, but it sucks when the entire area is covered in towel patches and a square cannot be found for you to lay out. My tip is that you come early in the day - and stay all day! They have a small concession here, and of course the prices are outrageous but what else can you expect? It is fun to people watch here, and I actually could spend an entire day here. People of all ages come here (actually, I haven't seen many seniors at this pool) so everyone is welcome - kids, adults, or teens. This pool usually opens on May long weekend of every year and closes sometime in September

Garbage and droppings all over and in the lake. My heart sank like the old jeans in the lake as peered out onto it from the dock. Weeds as far as I could see. No one really cares for this lake anymore it's obvious. It's a shame. Firewood is $17/bag lasted us about 4.5hrs of burn time. You also need to get an plug adapter for the plug in if you rent an powered campsite. $20 deposit. On the positive side the staff were super friendly. The store is open 24 hrs and sells alittle of everything at not that big of mark up. The best part of the trip were the great friendly campers there. I'll be back in 5-10 years to see how much has changed but unfortunately it won't be to camp. Thanks for the moments I used to have Mink lake.
