While this most recent purchase started off horribly bad, all mistakes were corrected and our relationship has been restored. Ben made sure to treat us great after all. That's most important. Here is why my rating is lower than a 5 Star: Initially, everyone was friendly enough, but I'm not looking for friends. We expect to do business in a pleasant environment with people who give me straight, honest, accurate information the first time and I want the fairest price the first time. I am not interested in playing games when purchasing a car. When shopping at Towne Hyundai of Hackettstown BE PREPARED TO HAGGLE! Straight-forward pricing is no longer in vogue, I was told. I wasn't prepared for this. When we arrived, we were greeted by 3 different people. We were given their names but not their roles. As we later figured out, one was the receptionist, one was the Internet sales rep (I initially thought she was the GM), and another ended up being our sales rep. This was a confusing start. Every question we asked was answered with 2 opposing responses. I expected better. I am not sure if it was lack of knowledge, but every question and offer was flim flammed. Towne Hyundai of Hackettstown uses the old fashioned sales technique of 'let me check w/my manager'. While I understand this is how the dealership chooses to run their business, I found it off-putting. The questions we asked were direct and were about: *financing/rebates. We were initially told we were given the cash price and no further incentives were available. Then we were told if you finance, there is a $1000 rebate, which is great. Although, we were NOT told that the interest rate jumps to 6.69% up from ~3% APR. Information was never complete or 100% accurate. *trade-in value of our 2011 Hyundai. Initially we were offered $750. Then it went up to $1250 when we declined the initial offer. Give me your best offer first. Playing games. *early pay-off of the financing. Initially we were told there is no penalty for early pay off in the state of NJ. Then, we were told that we need to make the first 4 payments (October, November, December, January) on the loan before paying off the loan, without explaining the rationale. It was worded as though waiting until 4 payments are made was a requirement. As we later learned, this is to ensure the dealership gets reimbursed for their incentive that was extended to the customer, which I understand. However, this boils down to costing real dollars for the customer. Conflicting and incomplete information. *cost of extended warranties. Initially, we were presented 4 options for extended warranties. When we declined all extended warranties, we were asked if one stood out that we may be considering as the finance representative would then check for any available coupons to lower the initial price. Why not offer the best price from the start. More games. *body damage. The car was delivered to us with body damage and residual glue. When we returned the car within an hour, it was suggested that we damaged the car. Offensive, condescending. Very careless Not one answer was accurate and or complete the first time we asked. Give me straight and honest answers the first time I ask a question. We attempted to return the car and cancel the deal and we were told this is not an option. We expressed our disappointment with how we were treated. GM Ben asked us if we ever bought a new car before (condescending). Yes, I've only ever purchased new cars. This is our 3rd Towne Hyundai new purchase alone. We were also told "thats all part of being in the car business. We negotiate everything.". Once Ben realized we are, infact, reasonable people and that we were treated very poorly, his demeanor changed and he was willing to right the wrongs. Btw...The music is too loud and not at all conducive to conducting business. I'm not there to "club".

Purchased a certified 2023 Hyundai Tucson from Towne Hyundai in Hackettstown NJ…read more Sales was ok. Took forever to purchase the vehicle and I was the only customer in there. Come to realize after purchasing, that they fraudulently overcharged me thousands of dollars beyond the agreed sale price. They never gave me a copy of the sales invoice sticker that was on the car and quickly removed the listing from their website. Tried to deal with the General Manager Rafael several times but he refused to even speak with me on the matter. Additionally, the vehicle experienced quite a number of mechanical issues that they also refused to resolve. The vehicle was supposed to be certified but they never gave me any paperwork on it. Angela from finance and Rafael worked together to commit fraud against me. Imagine how many people they do this to on a daily basis. Please avoid this dealership so you don't have to go through what I have.
