I visited University Hospital, Mayfield Heights location on Friday, 4 March 2022 to see a shoulder…read moredoctor specialist. I arrived at 4:10pm. BACKGROUND (the past) -- In February 2022, I noticed one evening that my right arm would not move up or to the side without me using my left hand to help. I couldn't shower properly because my right hand is my dominant hand. I basically couldn't lift things well without struggling. As a young person who isn't even 40 years old, this was strange. I hadn't exercised recently or lifted heavy weights so this random right shoulder pain and right arm immobility was weird. I went to Lakewood (Ohio) Urgent Care about 3 days later and spoke to a doctor who hoped that I didn't have a Rotator Cuff tear. A radiologist at Urgent Care took an X-Ray (3 images) that showed that nothing was wrong. The Urgent Care doctor then recommended that I see a shoulder specialist; thus, I arrived at University Hospital. I had to get a new health insurance plan so it was almost a month before I saw a specialist. Now, the present day... STAFF -- The front desk staff were friendly and organized. They gave me paperwork to complete and they took a copy of a CD that I was asked to bring. The CD had a copy of my X-Rays from when I went to Lakewood Urgent Care. UH DOCTOR Michael Karns -- Nice doctor and friendly. My only slight compliant is that I barely spent 5 minutes with the doctor. I spoke more with his assistants and the doctor only spoke with me for about 3 minutes; however, my right arm and shoulder symptoms were gone by the time I arrived at the hospital. The doctor explained to me that the reason for my arm discomfort was maybe inflammation and I didn't need an MRI. He said that my X-Ray results, which I got done in February at Lakewood Urgent Care, were great. I had no bone issues. I told the doctor that the Urgent Care doctor said that an MRI will show whether I have a tissue or muscle tear but Doctor Karns suggested that it will be a waste of time if I got an MRI. I listened to his advice considering that I can now move my arm again. Dr. Karns wanted to subscribe me some inflammation medicine but since I didn't have any arm immobility issues anymore, I declined the medicine. He gave me some physical therapy exercises to do instead. Overall, if I ever need to see a shoulder specialist again, I'll be back but I wish the doctor spent more time accessing my situation. **** - 6/150 total reviews in 2022 - 484 total overall Yelp reviews - Reviewed on 5 March 2022

I would NEVER suggest an appointment with Dr.Ozar... he was very rude, judgmental, and…read moredisrespectful and I never plan on stepping foot in another University Hospital because I can't believe this was one of their doctors. NEVER AGAIN! People have no idea what's going on in other people's lives to judge others and just because he's an elder does NOT give him the right. To be told: "what happened to your weight?" And then give me a stank face while looking at me up and down is INSANELY RUDE! I also had forms for work that I needed filled and the first thing he said when I mentioned it was "three pages? Are you kidding me? If they would've told me that then........." The way he made obvious statements like "you're 24 and you weigh that much? That's not normal and not ok." There are so many other ways you can say this to someone OR maybe just DONT state the obvious as if I don't know how unhealthy it is. Absurd. -"they're going to fire you, why are you even working there if it doesn't seem like you can keep up?" -"there's medication for weight loss but I know you can't afford it." And I wanted to say.. "who the f--- do you think you are?" But I kept my composure because I wanted to leave ASAP. This was the WORST experience I've ever had at a doctor's office, matter of fact, I've gone to worse neighborhoods and have been treated with more kindness and respect there than at this place and at least they had manners and common decency. You couldn't even pay me to choose University Hospital. Never in my life will I ever make the mistake of coming here.

I tried this clinic a few times and sadly mostly negative experiences. The front desk is at least…read morefriendly and the app is easy to use. I was first with Audrey, she repeatedly restated my situation incorrectly so not listening. For example I said I didn't have any friends I felt I could discuss my situation with so she repeated back that I had a good support system. She canceled our next appointment day of so I left a vm to reschedule. Office took weeks to call back. 2nd try was a CNP as Audrey left, when CNP are not trained as therapists. She warned me a drug rep may enter, so not HIPAA compliant. I just wanted someone to listen, but she talked the entire time making false assumptions and suggestions I had already tried. 3rd appt I had a work emergency come up so I was forced to late cancel. I was charged a late notice fee of $75 when the office had done the same to me already, was I supposed to charge a late notice fee? Life happens to everyone. The office is also pretty hard to reach. Sadly I do not recommend this office.
