Our family was so grateful to find West Valley Subacute Care. The entire rehab staff has gone above and beyond to help my father regain the skills necessary for him to safely return home. They have been kind, caring and patient throughout his stay and we have observed extraordinary progress over the last few months. Everyone from the front office admin staff to the nursing staff to the social workers care genuinely about their patients. Extra special thanks to Christopher M, Shakeh, Brenda, Gigi, Princess, Olga and Patricia for their excellent care. I HIGHLY recommend this facility.

I'm happy to say we had a very positive experience over the 20 days my dad was there. First off it's super clean, the staff is so friendly and helpful and they were very attentive to my dad. PT was wonderful! My dad has lower extremity Parkinson's which means he has struggles with balance and walking but Bobby and his team were so patient and compassionate with him. They really helped him achieve all his goals. All the departments were friendly and accommodating with any questions our family had. I highly recommend Northridge Care Center!!

There is a pretty bad language barrier on the 3rd shift. I was in there for knee replacement surgery and a couple of the CNAs during the night shift didn't under the phrase ICE PACK. Communication is pretty bad with two of the nurse supervisors. I won't mention them by name, but I think it's time for them to find other work. One of them almost made me miss a very necessary surgery and didn't bother to let me know that they were having problems faxing information over to the surgery center. I was having problems with a very loud neighbor across the hall, and the weekend night nurse supervisor said that if I didn't like it that I could go elsewhere. Apparently, she got written up for that. We did not speak after that. On the whole, the staff tries to do the best they can under the understaffing circumstances. Some of the CNAs are golden. The nurses are unbelievably giving with the brief time they have to offer. The housekeepers do a terrific job. The kitchen staff was very helpful. The monthly "candlelight dinners" were pretty cringe and while they're trying to do something special, I found myself wanting to leave every ten minutes. I think they went with the most mobile people. Pro tip: lose the Karaoke. Sweet gal who tries her best, but no. Just. No. I shared the bathroom with the patients next door. Both staff and the patients next door walked in on me doing my business more times that I care to remember. If you're going to see the show, buy a damn ticket! LOL. Or... learn to KNOCK. It's not that hard to raise your fist to the door. Unless you're missing a hand or something, then kicking is entirely appropriate. The Physical Therapy team was terrific. They went above and beyond. They recently had their yearly inspection from the City of LA. They ranked a 3. According to the people I spoke to who were in charge of the inspection, Northridge is one of the better Nursing Homes in the area, and that scares me. I did my best to treat everyone there with kindness and respect. I saw Alzheimer's up close with some of the patients. A stroke patient screamed like a siren. The patient across the hall from me is verbally abusive to the staff and they have to just shut up and take it. During the final days of my stay there I was this close to letting the bully have it. Now that I have had a chance to decompress, They did the best they could do with the resources they were given. I would not go there, however, if you have been injured or are recovering from surgery. I had knee replacement surgery and there was no structured plan in place to help me to get from point A to point B except to go to Physical Therapy. So I was on my own.

I would go there around 5pm when it was their dinner time. Feed her, try to talk to her and spend one on one time with her.She had Alzheimer's disease. I believe they have 4 different buildings and plenty of parking spaces along with clean restrooms. This facility was established back in 1912 and still serves their patients, families of the patients with pride, dignity, and kindness. They have over 6,000 seniors every year entering this facility. They even have a nice garden. They provide care for home, in their community and on premises/campuses. Nurses and other staff members are very sweet, kind, caring, professional and HELPFUL!! They don't just treat you as a number; but as a human. Recently few days ago I willingly wanted to go see one of my friend's mom who is in this care center. She has dementia. I told her that I would be going there and she met me there. Place is spotless clean, they come and change the bed sheets pretty frequently, take you for a walk, help you to take your medications, and do their best for everyone to feel welcomed, safe and a good place to be at! Yes they finally brought him back but the experience in jail caused a huge decline in his physical being. He declined pretty fast from then. The weekend when it seemed he would not make it the nurse on duty refused to let me come see him. I was only allowed to see him once he had died. I recently called for information and their VP could not have been more rude or dismissive. This is the retirement home we have all been warned about

The JHA accepts 65 years and older, I stayed at the Rehabilitation center for 10 days, not one time did any staff member when called ignored your call, if they heard the walker at 2am they would come to double check, fix your sheets without even a doubt, and make sure you in bed comfortable, if you need rehabilitation center,don't look further, this place is the happiest, kindness, loving, caring, that anyone can find, good luck

After looking at other options, Lake Balboa was clearly a step above, and they truly live up to the 5-star ratings they proudly display throughout the hallways. From the admissions team to the social workers, nurses, physical therapists, janitorial staff, and everyone in between, the entire team was professional, kind, and consistent. As a family member, you're not just "along for the ride" here. They keep you in mind too. You're greeted with smiles, updates, and they do an amazing job of quickly putting a name to a face. From intake to discharge, everything was handled smoothly, and even after my mom checked out, they were still helpful with the follow-up questions I had. The only downside: the food isn't great. To be fair, this isn't a restaurant, so it's not a dealbreaker, but it's worth mentioning. The easy workaround is that there are plenty of food options nearby, the location is very central in the Valley and easy to get to, and food delivery was what we leaned on. The facility also offered to store food in a fridge, which we did, and that made things much easier. If you or a loved one are looking for a care facility, I highly recommend Lake Balboa Care Center. During…read morethis transition with my father, I spoke to several people, and it has been an incredibly overwhelming situation. It's not something I take lightly, and there are a lot of emotions and decisions involved. From the very first phone call, Gabriel showed a level of care and patience that I honestly had never experienced over the phone before especially before even visiting the facility. He answered all of my questions, and what really stood out was that he also asked thoughtful questions to better understand our situation. He helped turn what was a very stressful moment into something that felt calm, manageable, and reassuring. Because of that conversation, I already felt confident that my father would be in the right place. When I actually toured the facility, I was pleasantly surprised. It is very clean, very well kept, and you can tell there is real attention to detail. Most importantly, I truly appreciated how much care and compassion the nurses showed toward my father. That meant a lot to me and my family during such a difficult time. Gabriel, truly thank you. I couldn't have navigated this without your guidance and care. I can confidently say that if I or anyone in my family ever needs help with something like this again, you will absolutely be the person we call.

This place is a horrific it might as well be something out of a nightmare, especially if you have…read moremobility issues. They are completely able list the cleaning woman who was to clean my mom or any patient that needed cleaning of their body or problems asked for money on the side and left my mom soiled for hours. The doctor from the facility did not show up for 12 days and did not even do an intake on my mom nor evaluate any medicine she was on. When my mom asked for someone to lift her up, a woman rudely told her no and through the remote that controls the height of the bed at her. Except for a few guardian angels that work at this place this is a bad institution that should immediately be shut down and investigated. I have zero faith in this institution in one day of my mom being released to the ICU hospital. She has a Will to live. She can talk normally she's not as sick and she feels better. Simply put an avoid this place by any means, and I would consider shutting the whole thing down. another issue was when attempting to get discharged from the facility due to the inhumane conditions and inhabitable conditions they would fight against me trying to keep my mom for extra days. The woman from social services on the phone told me that my mother did not want to go to the hospital, which was a lie. They refused to call 911 when my mom needed it and upon my arrival and calling 911 the paramedics immediately valued her evaluated her and said she needed to be in a hospital setting immediately and that I should report this place. They'll put you on the phone with Gabriel, they're fancy Schmanski business developer. I don't care about a business developer. How about a quality of life. Big ups go to the nurse that helped my mom escape this place and helped me because otherwise I would not know how we could've gotten her out of here short of escaping. They don't brush the patients who cannot brush their hair. Your loved one will have dreadlocks potentially and you better. Hope that you get a good nurse because if you don't, this might be your last place of life. Do not go to Tarzana health and rehab center and if management is reading this, you should be ashamed of yourself.
