My experience with All Spec Sheet Metal was perfect. I needed a local sheet metal fabricator to make some steel skins for two tables I am building for a customer. I just picked up the two skins and could not be happier! They are perfect - exactly what I wanted. The best part? Dave called me and asked a few clarifying questions about what I was asking to be made. He even offered to "hem" or roll the edges so there were no sharp edges. He also asked if the dimensions I specified were inner or outer dimensions, which I did not specify initially. And, lastly, Laurie was fantastic! I have dealt with All Spec over the years and found they were always willing to make things right. But their service has really got superlative. In ordering skylight flashings, the flashing companies sometimes get liberal with their dimensions figuring the roofers make no allowance for added materials. I have had to hammer in flashings or even cut them down. Mike made sure my flashings were made exactly to my dimensions. They are prompt, responsive and accountable. Al spec did some very custom work for me on a parking lot striper! I had a spray machine I didn't want to waste and thought it could be customized to work in my asphalt business. I asked Todd Gomez if he could and was quite impressed with what they delivered. Owner Todd Gomez and wife Amy do 5&6-digit jobs (see their web site) for the industrial sector and I was hesitant to bother them with my under-$100 residential work, but they treated me like I was one of the industrial customers mentioned, and completed my work within 48 hours. In my once-a-year calls, they custom made galvanized beam caps for varying patio and roof beams to prevent expensive dry-rot beam replacement. The roofers wanted to charge me up to ~$2,000 to replace and/or install such and they didn't want to be bothered with a small roofing job at that. Todd made them for under $100 and I installed them effortlesly, while my neighbor spent overe $2,000 cost when he hadn't installed any and his beams rotted out. On a still smaller scale, my beloved Retrievers needed self filliing water dishes; please don't laugh, this is serious stuff to both the retrievers and to us humans. I gave a drawing to Todd and Amy and they made a replacement water pan for of what I have been wasting on retail feed supply dishes that continued to overflow in this current drought situation. They took the time to verify my specs and add suggestions to make it first class. My Golden & Black labs are happy campers. :) read more

My twice or thrice-yearly transaction with All Spec: - Monday: I email them after-hours with some hand drawn sketches that look more like a Rorschach test. - Tuesday: I call to make sure the aforementioned art is interpreted correctly. I then ask for it to be ready Wednesday cause, you know, I want it now. - Wednesday: I pick up and ask for one more little thing to be done while I'm there, as if the guys in the back are just standing around waiting for something to do. - Thursday: They get half a Papa Murphy's pizza with what little profit they made on the transaction. Of course I'm exaggerating, but only a little. They may not even like Papa Murphy's. The moral of the story: I'm a relatively high hassle, low profit customer. I have been for ten years. Even so, they always do their best to take care of me. And of course the metal is bent just right. read more

I would not recommend using All-Spec unless you are a big company or have a huge job !!! If you are the average Joe they will not give you the time of day. The funny thing is I have known the owner for 20 years or so. Maybe if the office manager was capable of making decisions and give out estimates on his own, thing would have been better. I think after dropping off the plans for a simple project and calling back every other day for 8 days just to get a price. Instead I would get a different excuse and no price.
