Avian Suites is the premier bird boarding institution in the Twin Cities. Each bird-guest must have a valid veterinary exam on file, and sanitary precautions such as handwashing and scrub changes are employed to make sure nothing is transmitted between tenants. Each bird gets their own vaguely closet-sized room, with a clear viewing panel into the hallway. This means that bird are free to be out of their cages within their rooms during the day, and the staff can come in and interact with them. this means, cuddles, baths and head scratches aplenty. A fresh fruit and vegetable mix called "chop" is served every morning, and even bird who are classically picky enjoy this mix! Each evening, check your email for a custom report card on what your bird was up to that day (the ones over the holidays are especially hilarious). We love walking through the halls at check-in and check-out and saying hello to all of the other bird. 10/10. The staff is so friendly and knowledgeable that I don't loose any sleep leaving my bird here.

Karen, the owner, and her remarkable staff are a pleasure to work with and you will have such peace of mind when you board your birdies here. When you drop them off, your birds get a private room (our two budgies and two cockatiels share a room when they visit, each 'family' gets their own room) and you can either bring your own cage or use one of the cages that they have available. There's no chaos at drop-off, as Avian Suites works with you upon booking to arrange a private drop off time just for you so no other birds and their owners are coming in and out at the same time as you are. You can go back into your bird's 'suite' and get them all set up with whatever goodies you bring from home - don't forget their favorite toys and perches! Every morning, your birds will be provided with a fresh chop breakfast. Karen always says that even the pickiest eaters eat their chop! They will clean out their cage daily, and inspect droppings and behavior as well. Each night of your vacation, you will receive a 'report card' in which the staff will share how your birds did that day. They will include info on their eating, behavior, and yes - even their droppings. They really know their stuff too, some even are employees of vet clinics. We had a bird who needed medication during one stay, which they happily administered. Your birds will love going 'on vacation' to Avian Suites - and you will love the peace of mind. The last time we dropped off our birds, they started beak grinding (a sure sign of happiness) as soon as they got into their suite. Thanks Avian Suites!

I had a very positive experience with Southview Animal Hospital recently. My wife and I were…read morevisiting our daughter and her family in California and boarded our 11 year old English Cocker Sophie with a boarding kennel we have used extensively in the past. This time Sophie was attacked by another dog at group playtime. She received two deep punctures in her left flank and abdomen. The boarding kennel took her to Southview where they treated her - cleaned her wounds, sewed her up, gave her pain meds and antibiotics etc. The kennel called our son who is our emergency contact here and he called us early in the morning in California. Of course we were shocked and worried - after all we had left Sophie in what we expected to be safe place. We called Southview and spoke with Dr Mahanke. She spent a long time describing Sophie's injuries, treatment and prognosis which was good. Sophie was returned to the kennel where she was placed in confinement and where the staff did an excellent job of caring for her. She was returned to Southview for a check and Dr Mahanke called us and gave us a positive update we also set an appointment for Sophie after we returned. Sophie came home in good spirits but wearing an Elizabethan collar which was necessary but made feeding etc very awkward and uncomfortable We returned to Southview but Dr Mahanke was ill so we saw Dr Lee who removed her stitches and the Elizabethan collar much to Sophie's and our relief. Both of the vets and the vet tech were very friendly and they obviously cared very much about Sophie's well being. My wife and I were very pleased and would consider using Southview for routine car but it is a very long drive for us.

The doctor and the staff were incredibly kind and loving throughout this entire process... from the moment we arrived, me processing in disbelief what was happening, and even picking up her ashes a few days later. They took such great care of my family and I as we were mourning and in shock. I'm devastated we had to go through this, however I'm so thankful and externally grateful for their love and gentleness to not only our sweet dog, but to us as well. Thank you for being so kind, for grieving with us, and for your hugs during one of the worst days of my life. You all are angels.
