Bruce confirmed his availability for install beginning in late October at that time and we coordinated via email as that time approached. Bruce and his team do very great, thorough work. They were all very friendly and trustworthy. We are very pleased with our deck replacements and the dry rot pieces they both identified and replaced on our front support columns. Bruce also hung up our new address numbers for us at the conclusion of the project, which was a big help for us! We did not receive an invoice until the very end of the project (after 3 of 4 payments were made), but did receive one nonetheless. Despite this, we don't have any concern about Bruce and his team coming out to repair anything that should arise. Though, we don't expect that to happen based on the quality work they provided. Their focus is on their craft, not the administrative pieces of the business. I highly recommend Shaffer & Sons and will keep Bruce's contact information should we, our friends, or family members require any work completed in the future.

I got her as a…read more9 month old puppy, and she immediately made short shrift of my entire, 25-year-old (pretty rotted) perimeter fence. Not a small job, and an emergency one, because she LOVED running around the neighbors' yards. Lucian and his Dad braved the elements on extremely short notice, and built an entire new fence (mostly in the rain) for a great price. They gave me lots of upgrades, like unknotted wood, and thicker footers, and were incredibly fast and efficient. Its beautiful. That should have been enough, but - no - then my about six months later my back neighbors got their own Bernadoodle puppy, and the two dogs decided they didn't want a fence, so my pitty figured out how to pound her head against the boards until they bowed, then get her jaws on the wood, and tear through it. Lucian agreed that metal roof panels attached to the back fence would probably work (either that or an electric cattle fence), so he and his son came back out with the panels, cut them to fit, and spent a day attaching them, which - it turns out - is not as easy as it sounds. Again, quick service and excellent value. This family business, NW Modern, is fantastic, and I highly recommend them. And yes - it appears the metal roof panels are working!

They came out to talk thru the project and discussed options but no hard sell (which I appreciate). They assign a project manager (Blake in my case) to coordinate and keep things on schedule. However, the heroes of the project were Michael + Jonathan who built our fence. The took out the prior fence and checked in with our 96 yr old neighbor that we share the fence with to make sure he approved. He did! The walked me thru the finished fence and even added a "puppy protector" mini fence to keep our dog contained. They were super respectful, kind and FAST. It looks great and with the great warranty, we couldn't be happier.

Since it is a large deck on a on a slope, we knew it was not something we could do ourselves. After listening to our hopes and ideas, they developed a couple concepts for us to consider before we settled on a plan. After we agreed on the concept Victor and John came and gave us their appraisal and bid in a very timely manner. Although they had other projects before us, they began gathering materials and doing the new foundations for the new deck in early November. Although cost does enter the picture, they were fair in their understanding of our goals and needs and stayed on our agreed upon budget. Their requests for a deposit and funds along the way were reasonable. When we needed an additional week for the funds to come into our accounts as additional materials were ordered and delivered, they understood and continued the work. It was easy to communicate with them through person to person, phone calls, e-mails and/or texts. We decided to go with the Rocky Harbor Trex design and watched each day as the project progressed until it was done. Even with the November winds and rain, they showed up and worked throughout each day. Their work ethic and skills are second to none! I have worked with Pete Popa at Legacy Decks and Fence for over 15 years and on several properties…read more Pete is dependable and honest. Most importantly, he stands behind his work. He has built three different types of decks on my current property and all of them are of top quality and built to last. The first deck Pete built for me was to replace a cedar deck attached to my home. He used Brazilian Hardwood, or IPE, because of its durability and low maintenance qualities. The picture is current of a deck that was built 14 years ago. The second deck he built was around my Koi pond and we chose Trex decking to go over existing structure. This deck is 13 years old and as attractive as the day it was built. The third deck he built was a few months ago. The deck it replaced was cedar and I wanted to replicate what was there because it lasted so well. Pete used pressure treated beams stringers. Any cuts in the wood was painted with a protective treatment that is necessary when such wood is cut and the raw wood is exposed. The cedar boards were stained on all sides prior to being laid into place. I expect this deck to last for thirty years. Pete is also excellent with fence replacement. My pressure treated wood deck was replaced with a metal fence over 14 years ago and still looks new. No problems with posts or material to date. Lastly, Pete built a retaining wall at the edge of my property. It was built to be maintained and corrected, should the ground shift and require adjustments. The crew at Legacy Decks and fence are very easy to deal with and Pete ensures that all work is up to his standards. I can't speak highly enough about the quality of the work. And the test of time has proven the durability to me.
