The original middle step was only 3" wide. They took out 2 sections of walkway and the middle step. They framed out the middle step to 5 ' wide and over 30" deep and extended the walkway to match. After all that work they came back and added two railings with a 6" drop in the middle. At the last minute, I wanted a change in the color of the balusters, from white to black. No problem, done. The small charges for things like moving a water hose feel a bit nit picky given how much the service already costs when they really only serve two towns.
