The woman running this place is literally the sweetest, kindest, and most adorable person ever! I loved how clean the entire place was, especially the private rooms. Everything felt spacious, comfortable, and well-maintained. They use Korean karaoke remotes, which can be a little intimidating if you're not familiar with them, but she walks you through everything. A huge bonus was the visuals she had posted around the room and the pamphlet she gave you; they made everything super easy to figure out. The song selection is also VERY up to date with many options, old and new. There are different languages to choose from as well. They literally had Folded by Kehlani already... like, what?! I was impressed. The microphones sounded great and were very clean. I also appreciated that they provided mic covers; it was a nice touch. You can order food and drinks, too. The ramen station they have is so cute and honestly such a vibe. We booked one hour, shared a bottle of lychee soju, and I believe our total came out to around $50-$55. I can't remember the exact amount, but it was definitely in the $50 range, which is NOT bad at all.

The staff didn't have the most friendly expression, but they were helpful when we asked for anything. The ambiance/decor was trendy and the place was very clean. It didn't seem very busy even on a Saturday night, there only seemed to be a couple groups singing in the private rooms. The rooms also looked to be a good size with nice decor when we walked by.

It definitely impacted our experience as we would have to skip songs sometimes.

Exceptional Hosting by Keagan at Side Bar and Gaslamplighter!…read more If you are planning a corporate event, team-bonding outing, or just looking for an unforgettable night out in San Diego, you absolutely need to visit Side Bar and Gaslamplighter. Our team was in town for our quarterly QBR last quarter, and we went out afterward to let loose on the town. We randomly came across Side Bar on a Thursday night and met Keagan, who completely transformed our entire trip. He was the ultimate curator! He immediately assessed our group's vibe, realized we were out for team bonding, and invited us right in, securing a fantastic VIP booth for my team. After a few shots and grooving to great music, he personally ushered us over to Gaslamplighter for a change of scenery, where we spent the rest of the night enjoying amazing drinks and live karaoke. The experience was so incredible that on our second night out, after hopping around various other bars in the Gaslamp Quarter, our team unanimously decided to end our night right back at Side Bar. Once again, Keagan took flawless care of us. He hooked us up with another booth and a few bottles. We happened to be celebrating a team member's birthday that night, and Keagan made it unforgettable. The staff brought out the full VIP treatment with bright sparklers and "Happy Birthday" signs to close out the night in style. What makes Keagan so special is his attention to detail. Even while working a packed club and making his rounds to ensure everyone was taken care of, he constantly circled back to check on our group. He made every single person on our team feel incredibly important and looked after on both nights. We walked away with fantastic pictures, amazing team memories, and a strong desire to return. Shout out to Keagan and the exceptional teams at both Side Bar and Gaslamplighter; memories were truly made! I highly recommend these venues for any group outing in downtown San Diego.

This time it was the post-party following the Elite Event: Halloween Prom at Tin Roof in downtown San Diego. Rock Out Karaoke takes the stage and continues to provide the perfect atmosphere for fun audience-fueled performances. My gamer past thinks back to the video game Rockband, where we took turns singing karaoke and playing toy instruments in front of the living room TV to a playlist with decades of pop hits. The game now sits in storage, but aspiring vocalists can continue their craft of singing with a live band, playing and providing backup vocals to your lead. I am not a singer, even as a hobby. I am still recovering from a cough & cold where I lost my voice, but after several rounds of liquid courage, I kinda wanted to give it a go. After listening to a few performances and doling out well deserved high-fives, a gal mentioned that the live band performance aspect was a completely different experience to the typical lounge scene. She really enjoyed it and would definitely do it again. I think it would be helpful to the fans and groupies if their schedule was easily found on their main website page. If it's there, I missed the link. My bad. I don't FaceBook, so I'm not looking there either. Just sayin'. I read someone else's review about ROK's limited playlist. While I am easily impressed with the band's repertoire, I could see how discouraged a potential singer would be if a favorite karaoke song is not available. Maybe expanding the library to include more classic and current songs wouldn't hurt. Ready for the main stage? If you enjoy karaoke and energetic music performances, then consider Rock Out Karaoke. There's nothing else quite like it in town. Doing it ROK style might leave you breathless, but you'll love the unique experience.

I was happy to hear they offered karaoke too so my friend & I put our name down for a duet (the iconic HSM, "Breaking Free"). Upon coming to the bar, there were a few other groups but it wasn't crowded yet. It was about 30 minutes later, and several more people had come to the bar now. My friend went up to ask the guy (leading the karaoke) a question. At this point he tells her: "well, I already played your chosen song an hour ago...and it's the same crowd, so...". There wasn't a conclusion if he was asking us to choose another song or if he was just giving his personal opinion. We also simply disagreed that it was the same crowd as an hour ago, and also I didn't realize there was a rule about playing the same song per hour? Given there wasn't a conclusion from the conversation, my friend & I decided to keep our chosen song since we were looking forward to singing it. 10 more minutes passed and we were next in line. My group came up to the stage to get ready for when we were called. But then, we were skipped! The audacity! Someone else from my group went up to address why we were skipped. He said "I just won't play that song!". Honestly I'm wondering if he just had a personal issue with that song lol. Like bro just play it for three minutes and make the customers happy? Since we were upset about his power trip, we took our buisness to Redwing. I am happy we made this move. I will say, the drink pitchers are worth the money & the bartender was nice.
