What I liked most about this company was that Sylvia gave me a quote along with different ideas and packages to choose from. Instead of me having to tell a company exactly what I wanted and how much I wanted to spend, I really liked having different options and packages to choose from. It made the whole process so much easier. We hired Sylvia for our daughter's 18th birthday party for about 25 people, and everything was perfect. They came early in the morning on the day of the event and set everything up, then came back about an hour before the party started with the food. Everything was right on time and looked amazing. The food was delicious as well, and we had plenty of leftovers. Not one complaint about the food, and these were 18-year-old girls, so that says a lot! We also had a photo booth and the telephone where the girls could leave private messages for the birthday girl. That was such a fun and special touch and ended up being one of my favorite things. Aesthetically, everything looked beautiful, and I'll add some pictures so you can see for yourself. Everyone we worked with from Sylvia's company was professional, friendly, and very efficient. At one point, the wind knocked over some of the photo booth decorations, and they came over right away and fixed everything without us even having to worry about it. One other thing I loved about working with Sylvia is that she is a Navy veteran. If supporting a veteran-owned business is important to you, this is a great way to do it while also getting an amazing product and service. Their inventory is beautiful (that's why two stars instead of one), which is why selected them for a weekend of multiple Christmas 2023 activities for my boss's family. I won't go into long details and I fully expect a response from the company blaming me (as I see they've done to other reviewers). Basically, they strongly lack in internal communication as a team, will put substitutions on your order without telling you (and then deliver them anyway), will not care if they mess up, and promise to order custom color linens (that they offered to do) but then you find out day-of that they don't have them. They may even be spiteful as to not reply to urgent messages the day before the first event...and a threaten, at 8pm the night before Christmas Eve, to not show up. As an event planner knows, sometimes clients don't give detail decisions until the last minute. A professional, experienced rental company knows how to go with the flow and works as a team to make the event great. Especially when they're making near five figures, plus generous delivery gratuities at each delivery. These are not experienced professionals. They probably thought I forgot to write this review, as I told them I would do. I stayed calm and respectful during the process (over fear they really wouldn't show up, due to their attitude). But I am obviously still resentful as I plan this year's events. I wanted to be sure other event planners were warned to look elsewhere....as I am doing this year. My husband and I just got married last week at the Japanese Friendship Garden in Balboa Park. In…read morethe final month before the wedding, our original event rental company began bringing up some last-minute issues--things we had already agreed upon since the beginning of our contract. First, they suddenly said they didn't want to hang our paper lanterns. Then they changed their mind and said they would, but it would cost $30 per lantern--even though the lanterns themselves cost only about $2 each! I had done my homework and knew that other companies, including Platinum was quoting $2.50/lantern, so we were pretty shocked by the price. Second, just a week before the wedding, they informed us that they needed additional setup time, which would have forced us to pay an extra $1,400 to rent the venue for longer. At that point, I decided to shop around for other quotes. Our DJ recommended Platinum, and I was astonished to find that they were nearly $2,000 cheaper than our original event rental company--mainly because our caterer had been adding an extra 22% operational fee and 7.75% sales tax on top of the rentals. I worked directly with Sydney from Platinum, double-checked for any hidden fees, and she assured me there were none. So a quick tip for other couples: you may want to have your wedding coordinator work directly with the event rental company instead of going through the caterer, as the caterer may be adding unnecessary upcharges. We made the switch to Platinum the Tuesday before the wedding, and Sydney and her team did a phenomenal job. We were thoroughly impressed, especially given the last-minute change. Everything was on time, there were absolutely no issues, and the setup was so seamless that none of our guests even noticed the transitions. The courtyard looked absolutely stunning with the market lights and all 40 lanterns. Thank you so much to Sydney and the team for helping make our day so perfect. We didn't have to worry about a thing!
