I took my dog in for a checkup, and the vet told me that my boy had an arrhythmia. She then told me that she didn't feel comfortable prescribing him medication until he was seen by a specialist. Totally understandable! After the vet left our room the vet tech came in with her as they were discharging us. The vet tech said that Dr.Cain should start us on a heart med. I was very concerned about this, as I had never heard of a vet tech prescribing medication. But the Dr.Cain just kind went along with it after the vet tech brought up that "it wouldn't hurt" Mind you I asked if I could record the findings as I tend to miss things that are said so I have ALL of this recorded. I called the next day after my dog had serious side effects and to to ask about the medication. The receptionist put me on hold and talked with the owner. She came back and said that Misty (the owner) said to NOT give that to him as it would not give us clear results when we got in with the cardiologist in a few weeks. I am very upset that my dog was given medication without a proper diagnosis. NOT EVEN DIAGNOSED AND THEY ARE GIVING OUT MEDS. In addition, the receptionist was very rude and unpleasant. She made me feel like I was an inconvenience when i just have my pets best interest at heart as I should. I would not recommend Tigertown Veterinary Hospital to anyone!

HOWEVER, I JUST HAD THE CRAZIEST EXPERIENCE AND WILL NEVER RETURN AND WILL URGE OTHERS NOT TO... here's why: A couple days ago my cat was bitten by a snake. His leg was swelling in front of my eyes and he personality changed quickly. I called the office right as they opened about thirty minutes later. They said with snake bites I would need to bring him in urgently due to the quick decline it can cause. I was concerned about price and she stated they don't do payment plans and said to try care credit but drop him off and we would figure it out. So that's what I did. I tried care credit and it was a no which was no surprise. I'm a full time healthcare student and mom. I received a phone call from the veterinarian who said they needed permission to start antivenom therapy and fluids etc, I said YES and explained again that I was trying to figure out the finance aspect she said it's fine we will deal with it at the front when we know what we are looking at and that the cat would usually stay overnight for observation so I would have a little more time to get whatever the cost was together. After I picked my son up from school, I went by to see the status and they said my cat was responding well and no complications and the price was $554. Okay, so realizing they were trying to release him right then I was panicking because I still haven't had enough time to have the response from the people who were going to pitch in to get the cat paid for. The woman in the back office came out and instead of calmly trying to understand that I just needed until the next day (which was what was eluded that morning) she used a humiliation tactic in front of the people in the waiting room and her staff. Things she said such as, "did you even have intentions on paying?" And scoffed at me. And I was trying to explain that I just needed a little bit to figure it out. She was very pushy and probing and so I had started getting emotional knowing that she was clearly treating me like I was a scumbag of the street. She asked that I call and speak to only her in the morning and I asked her if she was going to be as rude because if so I don't want to speak to her. She got very offended and visibly was shocked that someone would call her out. She got huffy and I was trying to dismiss her and she said things "do I tell her (pointing at receptionist) that she won't get her check because you can't pay" which is bad business and could get illegal. "Do you have a check we can just change the date?" Which is illegal. And through all of this she exclaimed that she was the owner like it was supposed to make a difference. Then she told me other clinics would call the police and press charges for theft of services. Absolutely ridiculous and such a disgrace of a woman. Like I anticipated, the next day I paid and got my cat and the medical records for my husky and my feline and will not be returning. What an embarrassment to caring for animals. Insensitive, rude, and disgusting. I wouldn't want my penny OR A FRIENDS BORROWED PENNY going to support this woman's place of business And after sharing the experience amongst my class one of my classmates knew the exact person I was speaking of. Kelly the owner. She shared some horrific stories on how the employees are screamed at and treated. I couldn't help from realizing that this woman is in the wrong field and she treats everyone like shit.

When I arrived I was amazed how big this place was it look like a hospital and emergency room for humans. when I walked in the door, the hospital staff saw how sick my puppy was and they immediately rushed up front to get her and took her straight back. I've had to come up here several times for her neurological condition. If you live any significant distance from Auburn, I strongly recommend having another emergency…read moreplan or two in place. You may receive good care once you arrive with your credit card, but based on my experience, I would not trust Auburn to provide the urgent guidance and support you may need before you can get there. My experience with Auburn Veterinary Hospital during my dog's final night was an appalling failure of emergency care. Bailey was an established Auburn patient. The night she died, I was alone with her during a severe, life-threatening emergency, approximately an hour and a half from Auburn and at least 30 minutes from the nearest emergency facility. I called Auburn for guidance. Instead of treating the situation as the life-threatening emergency it was by getting a veterinarian or nurse on the phone, the receptionist was cheerful, dismissive, and completely tone-deaf to what was happening. Bailey needed help, and I was desperately trying to get her the care she needed. Auburn wasted precious time. I hung up and called Huntsville Veterinary Specialists; a facility I had previously taken Bailey to for a second opinion but ultimately chose not to continue care with because of the distance - 3.5 hours from home. The contrast could not have been more profound --- or damning to Auburn. HVSE immediately understood the seriousness of the situation and kept me calm enough to function. They found an emergency hospital capable of treating Bailey, contacted the hospital directly to prepare for our arrival, and stayed on the phone with me throughout the process. They even followed up afterward. That is what emergency support should look like. Auburn did not come close. I want to acknowledge that Auburn's neurology team was great when we met with them to establish Bailey as a patient. The specialists and fellows were compassionate, thorough, and took the time to discuss Bailey's care and options. Unfortunately, that positive experience does not erase what happened when we needed support most. The receptionist I spoke with that evening should be deeply ashamed of how she handled the situation and of the complete lack of urgency she demonstrated. If Auburn's policies and procedures dictate that this is how an emergency is handled, then the system itself is reprehensively broken. Bailey deserved better. We both did.
