But I promised myself that I would definitely write one for Mark and Rivard's Earthworks. he truly deserves a five-star rating. I am actually disappointed that I will not be able to work with Mark again (I do not foresee another large demolition project in my future). I was more than happy with the experience and I was 100% satisfied with Mark's work. I highly recommend him and his work and I would call him again if I ever had a need for his services. Mark was the BEST contractor I have ever worked with. From start to finish, Mark was professional, friendly, and helpful. We decided to abandon our 30,000 gallon pool and due to the size of the job, we expected this job to be a difficult process filled with headaches. Despite the size and complexity, this job was, literally, the easiest I have had done in 17 years. I hired Mark primarily because of the reviews that stated his handling of city building permits and inspections. I have dealt with several contractors, including a few of the larger and popular companies in our area who promised to obtain permits and never did. Mark lived up to the reputation, obtaining permits before starting work and attending both city inspections...without having any issues or problems. I would have been happy with just knowing the work had been done to code, but Mark's attitude and work ethic blew me away! Mark arrived everyday by 8:00 AM and put in a solid 9+ hours on site. A few issues came up during the work but, unlike most contractors I've dealt with, Mark's attitude was always, "No problem. I can take care of that." We own an "odd-shaped" property lot with some access areas barely over 7'. Mark was a real master operating his equipment during setup and the job process. It is obvious he has been doing this for many years when you see his ability at maneuvering large equipment. I was shocked on the first day when Mark arrived by himself...no crew. Aside from his son coming out the last day to help with cleanup, Mark performed the ENTIRE job by himself. I have to say that it was nice not having a 5-6 member crew walking back and forth across my property for an entire week but, considering how well the job was done, I would have tolerated it. Mark talked to me throughout out the job to find out what my plans were after the job was done. In doing so, he saved us a couple thousand dollars. Mark brought over fill dirt from a previous job, which saved us in hauling and backfill costs. And, since we were not putting in grass, we didn't need special top soil for growing. The topper of it all was that the final price was QUITE a bit less than the original estimate. The whole process was a breeze and the Mark was the main reason it was so easy.

The morning HES and crew arrived, I had second thoughts on removing a certain area of my Satillo tiled deck and tiled patio. Haney was so understanding and explained that he'd start on the concrete and enclosure removal to give me time to see/decide when they get to the deck portion. This put me right at ease. When his crew arrived, they got right on task, like a systematic work plan. This was so reassuring for me (i've had my share of disappointments in the past from contractors.) HES crew delivered. "THANK YOU". They did such great work and sure know what they are doing. This crew worked so hard and worked practically nonstop in the HEAT. They had a positive vibe which was nice to see while doing such hard work. THE JOB / was to demolish a large patio with thick concrete patio, remove a partial patio enclosure and Saltillo tiles on a large upper deck area. I don't write many reviews anymore, and honestly, I haven't had many contractor experiences that…read morewould motivate me to change that. But Lassiter Excavation was so good that I couldn't continue to be lazy.  For context, I was replacing an old 35,000-gallon swimming pool with a skinnier lap pool. Lassiter started by completely removing the massive 1975 pool, including every scrap of concrete and piping.  Then they backfilled and compacted. Working to my soils engineer's specifications, they imported and compacted 18 truckloads of quarry fines in carefully controlled 8-inch lifts through the full 12-foot depth of the deep end, all the way to finished grade. They used multiple pieces of equipment, including jumping jacks, a Bobcat, and a vibratory sheepsfoot roller (which I had to look up), and they coordinated compaction testing throughout the process.  When they were done, it looked like a pool had never been there. The site was fully prepared for the new excavation, which Lassiter then completed flawlessly.  I measured their forms with a laser level and laser tape measure, and length, width, diagonals, position and elevations were all within 1/8 inch. That's impressive considering the new lap pool is nearly 60 feet long. When they were finished digging, the walls and floor were razor straight and right on their marks. The crews were outstanding -- friendly, hardworking, detail-oriented, and consistently professional. They maintained an exceptionally clean jobsite throughout the project and even helped me reclaim some old redwood decking.  Special thanks to Santana, Ricardo, Daniel, Jose and team for answering all my questions and caring so much about the end result.
