I hired All Around Contracting to reconstruct my deck and extend it. Clayton showed up the day after I called him and gave me a quote that night. They started the work in a timely fashion and did a fantastic job building it. He went above and beyond his original quote and added some aluminum flashing around the trim boards for a better look. I made a quote appointment with Clayton over the phone a week ago. He sounded polite and professional. I asked if it was possible for him to come to my house on December 24 to give a quote on our project. He said he preferred to "stay away" from Christmas Eve. So we agreed for him to come the day before Christmas Eve--today, the 23rd. He was scheduled to come at 9:30 AM, but he never showed up. I called him at 9:50 AM and had to leave him a voicemail asking if he was on his way, but he never responded. This is the third contractor that has flaked like this within one week (not showing up, not responding, not giving a quote when they said they would). I'm noticing a pattern here. Many contractors seem to rely on certain websites for business referrals. The contractors rely on the positive reviews they receive on websites that don't allow reviews from people who have not given money to the business. Basically, they can flake and not follow through on quotes whenever they feel like it, but once your money actually enters their hand, then they may do a really good job in order to maintain their 4- or 5-star rating on those websites. That's my only theory; otherwise, this consistent pattern of flakiness doesn't make sense from businesses who have decent ratings on those websites. Whatever the reason, I'm starting to understand why I've heard news stories of how people have had such difficulties finding a contractor who will stick with a job and actually finish it through properly. read more

WORST HOME RENO EXPERIENCE EVER!!! IF WE COULD RATE MINUS WE WOULD HOWEVER WE WOULD GIVE 5 STARS FOR BULLSHIT * On October 25/2015 we hired All Around Contracting (owned by Clayton Fast) to do some renovations on our home. * The time line we were given for this project was one to three months * We have paid $31,899.45 to date (half of the budget) * In three months they haven't even finished one room * Clayton (the owner of All Around Contracting) required more money from us * We weren't comfortable handing over more money due to the lack of progress made at this point * There were weeks where workers were only here once in a week and when they did show up they were only here for a couple of hours. We were given constant excuses as to why no on was here * Clayton has not met one deadline or fulfilled any promises he has made * The lack of communication throughout this process has been incredibly frustrating and on many occasions our calls were completely ignored * We have been extremely unhappy with the quality of work performed by All Around Contracting. MANY mistakes have had to be corrected and still need to be corrected * The speed at which things have been carried out has been very frustrating. Our Mother was told she would be in her room the beginning of December. This date had been revised on at least three separate occasions and she still cannot move in * Part of the exterior of our house has been left unfinished and exposed to weather * We were told that areas of the house being used would be protected with poly and zippers, this did not happen. There is dirt and dust EVERYWHERE * Demolition material has been left in our driveway instead of being put in the half empty bin that was removed from our property without any notice. We will now have to pay to have it removed * Two ceramic heaters that were lent to All Around Contracting now need to be replaced because one went missing and the other was returned with paint and mud all over it * During the month of December Clayton experienced some health issues and lost his Father. We understood this was a difficult time for him and we were sympathetic to this. We suggested he take time to heal but he declared he was ok and insisted he would maintain the work schedule. This did not happen * On Boxing Day we realized that a previous visit by the electrician had cut power to our Washing Machine as well as our Fridge/Freezer. As a result we lost all the contents in the Fridge/ Freezer. Clayton was notified of this immediately but the issue has never been resolved and these appliances are still being powered by an extension cord We wanted to share our experience with others to make people aware of what we just went through with All Around Contracting and owner Clayton Fast. We feel like we have been held hostage because we've been so afraid of losing our savings but enough is enough. We suspect that Clayton spent our money on other jobs then couldn't complete ours. We offered what we felt would have been a fair settlement where we could end this amicably and all walk away from an incredibly stressful situation but the only response from Clayton was to threaten to put a Lien on our Property and charge us with defamation and slander if we released a bad review. We don't feel that the work completed warrants the amount of money that we have paid out so we are in the process of having a professional assessment done in order to proceed with legal action. 20 days ago (early September), I contacted All Around via the website for a job quote. I received an automated response immediately. A day later, I received a reply from Clayton. He asked for my address so that he could come for an estimate. I sent him my address with directions as well as photos. He replied by e-mail saying that he would be in contact shortly. A week went by with no contact and once again I sent another e-mail as well as leaving a phone message. Finally, after 10 days I sent another e-mail and a reply came after a total of 14 days. Clayton explained that there was a death in the family. I sent an message expressing condolence. We sent a couple of messages to each other to arrange for an appraisal of the work to be done and had a date and time in mind. Again, no contact for another 5 days to confirm the appointment even though I had asked repeatedly for confirmation. On the morning of when the tentatively scheduled appointment was made, I received both an e-mail from Clayton as well as a phone call from his partner Dave. I explained to Dave that the last time I had heard from Clayton was 5 days ago and that my time was very tight that morning and could give him 15 minutes to do the appraisal. Dave explained that it was he and not Clayton that usually did the estimates and that he had been tied up last week due to the arrival of a new family member. Dave scheduled to meet me about an hour later that day when within 30 minutes, Clayton e-mailed me to say they are no longer interested in the job as they were too busy. You have to ask yourself if there is any communication that goes on between partners. I can understand that during one week, Clayton had matters to deal with because of a family tragedy but you would think that Dave would have covered for him. Then, when Clayton was back and Dave needed to deal with personal matters, that Clayton would be able to at least reply a message. It appears to me that the right hand does not know what the left hand is doing. I am sure that the work they do must to ok, but you can decide for yourself if this is the type of company you want to do business with. If they have such difficulty just returning simple messages in a timely manner, you have to wonder if a job that they start would be finished in a timely manner, especially when you can't even get ahold of them either by e-mail or by phone. read more
