If there was a 6 star rating, I would have given them that. These guys came out to my house on the…read moresame day we called. My septic tank pump stopped and the high level alarm was going off. I was afraid it would overflow so we asked them to come out the same day. I assumed I would be paying an emergency service fee which I would have gladly done. When they arrived, they found an issue with the wiring on the pump. After working on it for half an hour or so, they got it resolved and so now the pump is running again without needing parts or anything replaced. At the end of it, he tells my wife the he feels bad and does not charge me for the service call. That is unbelievable. I've used his company 4-5 times in the past every time we need a pump out. Needless to say, if I ever need another service, this is who I am calling. World class customer service.

Third time I needed to pump the tank I called them and they said they had some big job and couldn't come for several days. Several days came and they said the truck broke down and would call back. They never called back. This was probably the best thing. I asked my neighbor who he uses and had that other company come out. I was there and was shown and explained quite a bit. It turned out (and I didn't know any better) but Duncan's never emptied the tank. I was told that what was in there had clearly been in there for a while. I thought back to when they came last time and the guy was just swishing around the pipe in the septic tank for no more than 10 minutes. This other company spend 45 minutes and I saw that the tank was actually fully cleared.

Shilling Septic is a Godsend! I was selling my house, had an home inspector standing in my yard…read moretelling me I had a failing septic. I didn't want to lose my buyers. My neighbor recommended I contact Shilling Septic. They were out the next day to access my septic system. The next day(Friday), Shilling Septic had the Health Department out to verify if a new system was needed. Monday, AA Co and Shilling Septic were digging up my back yard for a perc test. A little more than two weeks later, I received approval for the grant for the tank AND Shilling had gotten the green light to install from AA Co.. Two days later, they were digging up my yard again. Shilling jumped through hoops to ensure my then septic system did not go from failing to failed. They expedited the process with Anne Arundel County and referred me to the Bay Restoration Fund Grant (which pays for the tank installation). Again, submitted and approved in just a few weeks. Mandy answered all my phone calls. Ray, Fred or Ritchie answered all my questions. Today, you can barely notice anyone had been digging up the yard a month ago. I love Shilling Septic! Reasonable pricing, very knowledgeable, and explained everything to me in a way I could understand without making me feel like an idiot They were able to assess the issue with our pump and were very honest with what needed to be done. They also offered recommendations for electricians and other trades should we need it in the future. As a military spouse with my husband being deployed often, they reassured me that I could call them if the house needed anything. They have come in a hurry for an emergency, (a clogged tank we didn't know we had inaccessibly located in the basement) and on a regular basis to clean our tank. We have found them to be very pleasant to deal with as well.

So I was paying every other month for something that can go way longer. I feel taken advantage of. They also charge more than other companies.

She promised if she couldn't get to it on Monday, she would be there on Tuesday. Called Tuesday at 4:50 p.m., to ask if I was getting pumped today, spoke to an older lady, and she said she would contact Sherry and call me back (still waiting on that call back). No show on Tuesday. Called on Wednesday morning, and again was told they would be there today, but it would be late, and I was the first stop. Well here it is Thursday, and no call or no show. They have provided a bunch of lies. I have been using this company for over 2 years for 2 properties. I suppose they don't want my business or care about a good customer. There are plenty of reputable septic companies in the area that I can give my business to.
