There is a wide array of free weights, cardio options, and machines that allow a lot of options for your chosen workout. While other gyms shy away from the heavier dumbbells and free weights, this gym has several free weight bars, plates, clamps, etc. and dumbbells that go up to 120lbs. There is a traditional power lifting area, a dedicated dumbbell section and even an outdoor area for sport fanatics to train their fast twitch muscles and work on agility and endurance. Now why isn't this a five star review? Well as good as it is, it could be better. The dumbbells have seen a few wars are some are broken free from their rubber casings, some seats are cracked/torn and could use some freshening up, and a little bit of organization when it comes to dumbbell placing would really make a difference. Also, sometimes the music system leaves something to be desired. By that i mean sometimes you go in and it's as quiet as a funeral, and sometimes it's so loud you can't drown out the music with your headphones turned up to the highest level. Again these are very minor complaints given all this place has to offer and compared to the competition, you won't get a better value for your dollar. Being open 24/7 even on holidays is a HUGE plus as well and the staff has always been friendly and welcoming when I'm heading out the door in the early morning. All in all, although no place is perfect, aside from some minor annoyances, I challenge you to find a better gym in our community. 4/5 stars.

I've given them my ID countless times, and they still claim they "don't have my photo" in their system. That is their failure, not mine. I scan the QR code like every other member, but they act like the scanner can't be trusted and treat me like I'm going through TSA security. They question me every single time as if I'm not even a member. Who do they think they are? Even after I transferred my home club exactly as they demanded, nothing changed -- they still keep checking my ID like a checkpoint authority. The attitude here is rigid, unwelcoming, and completely out of line. They treat their "own" members differently and make Black Card members from other clubs feel unwelcome. And let's be honest: I'm done with this toxic place. I will never come back. I wouldn't recommend this gym to anyone. Stay far away. Most of their clubs are poorly maintained, the hygiene is terrible, and the equipment is far from professional. The only reason I joined Planet Fitness in the first place was because they had many convenient locations -- but at this point, I'd rather not work out at all than step into a place like this again.

I've visited more than 50 gyms, including modern chains (24 Hour Fitness, LA Fitness, Planet Fitness), martial arts dojos, and CrossFit boxes. This was the first place I have ever been to that does not have a water fountain for its members. It is absurd and reeks of greed. It is no wonder that this poor community does not have nice things. People here accept low quality. Clearly, they do not realize that they, as loyal customers, are the lifeblood of businesses. Without them, businesses would not exist. *** Just so we are clear, the employees and management were pleasant. I am not criticizing the people. I am criticizing how ridiculous it is for a gym not to offer its members free water. I am also criticizing how expensive these out-dated places are. (All of the private gyms I have been to in Imperial County are outdated and overpriced.) Rent here in Imperial County is extremely cheap compared to the rest of California. Yet these outdated little gyms charge $10-$20 more than large, clean, modern gyms in expensive areas. (Those gyms all have locker rooms with showers, and many have additional amenities such as pools, dry saunas, steam, etc.) Unfortunately in many cases people in this community pay more and get much less. The winds of change are blowing. One day, people in this community will have nice things like everyone else in California. How fast that day comes depends on us.

Spin Zone has plenty of bikes for everyone and the membership prices can't be beat. They even allow you to drop in for a class without a membership, which I LOVE because I travel a lot. I took Monica's class and she was phenomenal. She is highly knowledgeable and motivating. She walked around and pushed each of us while making sure that we had proper form. The music was great and upbeat, and I left class drenched in sweat!! If you're looking for an amazing cardio workout- this is the place to be! My surgeon told me I needed to stretch but I wasn't sure what that meant or how to do it. I'm so happy I found Nic. He took time to evaluate my conditions (which included posture problems from sitting at a desk my whole life) and he put together a very smart and thorough plan. He started me with simple exercises to build muscle and confidence. As I progressed he continually revised and gave me new exercises which built upon the previous. After a few months I was doing so much better. I saw Nic for about 9 months for bi-weekly visits where he would check my form and push me further. Two years later I continue to do my "leg exercises" daily and when I go to Target I stomp through that store like a super model with someplace to be other than Target. Thank you Nic.
