As advertised on the Deadwood Site this 'attraction' offers a glimpse ofthe Chinese tunnels and…read moreopium dens. Actually has remnants of the original boardwalk and almost 40 feet of original storefront. The real Flavor of this place though is the tour itself! I had an idea it was going to be CHEESY when the guy running the place would NOT even look me in the face when I asked about tour times and prices! It was only $5 a head(plus tax, kids free) but after going on the self-guided, tape recorded, way hokey tour that wound you around the basement of the saloon above, I could understand why the guy looked guilty about taking my money! If you really want to see the things advertised in the pamphlet you will, but be prepared for a good laugh otherwise. Go with your sense of humor! OH, I forgot! you get to pick a free rock in the middle of the tour!

This is the biggest SCAM in deadwood. I would have been proud of the displays from my 4th grade…read moredaughter for a school project, but to charge money and sell this as a historical destination is absurd. It is embarrassing to the Chinese culture that this place exists as a legit stop that is marketed in Deadwood. If the founders of this establishment genuinely cared about the history of Chinese workers in Deadwood, they would have spent much more time and resources putting together a display and piece of history worth visiting. I love Deadwood, but left embarrassed to have visited this SCAM.

This tour is phenomenal! Kim has years of personal experience from working in archeological sites…read morein Deadwood. It is evident that a through amount of research was completed to provide historical context to each haunting. She does an excellent job of painting the picture, providing evidence (including pictures), and also providing first account examples. I have been on several ghost tours around the country and this is too notch. If you love history and learning more about lawless times, this is a tour for you. While Deadwood is one big tourist trap I recommend stopping just for this tour to get a good sense of the town followed by a bite to eat. We ate at Stampmill and stayed in the town next door, Lead. If nothing else - do this tour!

Unfortunately, this tour was not the experience we had anticipated. We were excited to learn about…read moreDeadwood's haunted history, but we ultimately left the tour at the third stop because of several issues. The presentation came across as heavily rehearsed and lacked the energy needed to keep us engaged. The tour also moved at an unexpectedly fast walking pace, with the guide frequently getting well ahead of the group. We became separated before the first stop and later had to ask for the pace to be slowed because we were winded. Additionally, traffic and crowds along the main street frequently made it difficult to hear, pedestrians passed between the guide and the group while we were stopped, and there appeared to be some confusion at times regarding the next location. We were also disappointed that we did not enter any historic buildings during the portion of the tour we attended. By the third stop at the Bullock, we decided to leave. This was one of the most disappointing guided-tour experiences we have had. I hope this feedback helps improve the experience for future guests, particularly regarding pacing, group management, organization, and presentation.
