Had a massage with Barb that was the worst massage I've had for a long time especially as she apparently has 26 years of experience. She was all over the place and would bounce around from one body part to another instead of patiently working out the crunchy areas, even when they were obvious. She kept pushing on my body quite aggressively and when I told her It wasn't at all relaxing, she told me that she was getting me loose. I had specified that my gluten, hip flexer ans IT band needed some attention and while she worked the gluten pretty well after I asked foe.more time spent there, she told me that she couldn't due the rest of my leg because I had left my underwear on ( thin boxer briefs) but she hadn't given me any instruction to take them off...I undressed to "my own comfort level" which I have always done and it's never been an issue. When it was finally time to flip over to the front, I told her my right pec needed some attention and she dug in without time to warm up the area...it hurt. She was still bouncing around, head, neck.jaw shoulder, all briefly. At one point she roughly grabbed my ear. Maybe this was her method and what my "body told me it needed" but it was not enjoyable, was painful, and I couldn't wait foe it to be over. Maybe she just doesn't give a shit or was having a bad day, I really don't know, but I won't me going back to barb, that's for sure. I can't speak on any of the other practicioners. read more

Went in because of a horrible pain in my back and shoulder. After asking a few questions about what was causing the issue, she knew exactly how to fix it. She used multiple techniques to relieve my pain, and now, nearly a week later, I feel like a new person. Thank you! read more

Hands down the BEST massage I've ever had & I get them every two weeks. I was desperate to find a new therapist after my last one quit! I visited a few other places before finding Mira! I honestly felt like I was on vacation the last two times I've been massaged. She's fun and easy to talk to, but let's you have a quite massage, and I've been so relaxed I've almost fallen asleep each time... (Which is worth more than my car to me because I have insomnia). The energy in the room is incredible as soon as you walk in. Her & Allison really take care of the place. I look for a peaceful, physically & mentally healing, spiritual practice and I definitely find that here-- which is more than I can say than any where I've been in Denver & I've been to 4 other locations! I want to buy all my friends and family giftcards to see her! The world would be a MUCH better place! So happy to have found my massage home. :) Thanks so much Mira! See ya in two weeks! read more

Absolutely INCREDIBLE!! I had my first lymphatic drainage massage yesterday and let me tell you, I feel like a new woman this morning (and 10 lbs lighter lol)! Becca was one of the best massage therapists I've ever experienced. She explained everything, as this type of service is different from a traditional massage. She has a gentle touch and made me feel so relaxed and comfortable. I would recommend this place a million times!! I can't wait to come back :) read more

I had a Living Social for Alivio. I checked the reviews on Yelp and all of them were great except they were all for Alison, who apparently doesn't do the Living Social deal (which should be noted so people know) I ended up scheduling with Katarina because she worked during the time I wanted. I liked that I could text to schedule a massage and they were quick in responding. I did not really enjoy my massage. I'm super picky about massages (my favorite place is highland massage company). I actually fell asleep during like half of it because it was honestly a boring massage. I can't even explain it. I was hoping for a deep tissue massage and it was kind of one. I left feeling unsatisfied but that was probably my own fault for falling asleep. But i won't be returning. Good for everyone else who gave 5 star ratings. read more

The massage I received from Becca, was incredible! I am looking forward to seeing her again soon.

My back had been aching for days and I could barely sit at my work desk. I knew it was time for a solid massage and prepared to wait for days before I could get an appointment with the right therapist. Boy, was I wrong! I was able to book a session with Alison, online, for that same day. She immediately texted me to confirm the appt which was greatly appreciated. She also offers a restaurant industry discount! Now to the massage....Alison is AMAZING! She really tailored the hour massage to work on the problem areas that I had mentioned to her before the session. Her intuition was dead on. I've had a lot of therapists that have gone through the motions and not provided the relief that I needed. Not with Alison! Her professional yet sincere approach is completely worth the visit. Oh, and her eclectic playlist of music will make you feel right at home! read more

I had a massage today at Alivio and it was fantastic. I've been to a lot of different massage therapists, and the last one I tried in Denver was awful. Alivio was relaxing, thorough, and friendly. Just the right amount of pressure in all the right places. Booking was easy, prices are reasonable. Book here, for sure. read more

I've been seeing Alison for 7 months now, once or twice a month, for chronic back pain due to my scoliosis. She is simply amazing at what she does. Each massage is customized to work on specific areas and alleviate specific pains. I wouldn't call Alison a masseuse; I'd call her a therapist. I think of her more like a physical therapist than a masseuse because her medical-grade massages and knowledge of how to treat my issues are more effective than going to my Orthopedist. If you want a "fluff and buff" massage, call Massage Envy. If you want serious help with bodily aches and pains, Alison is your girl. Also, she plays great music. So much cooler than waves crashing on a beach or frogs chirping ( do frogs chirp?). read more

I just came home from a massage with Katarina at Alivio Massage Therapy. Why Alivio Massage Therapy? They have good reviews on Yelp! They are in the neighborhood. So, why not? I arrived at their building (an old victorian house), 15 minutes early, as I wanted to make sure I could find a place to park. I parked on the street, so no problem there (no meter parking,it's all free!). I walked up the stairs to the second floor, and found their office easily. Katarina was coming up the opposite stairs, and we introduced ourselves to each other. She had me wait in the small waiting area. I quickly filled out the one page sheet, which asked for the pertinent information. I only had to wait maybe 5 minutes, and Katarina came and got me. Their massage room is really a 1 room office and massage room combination. When you walk in, there is a small desk with necessary office stuff, and in the adjoining area, behind a curtain, and a heavier curtain, is the massage table, with nice pictures on the wall, and peaceful, relaxing music playing. Katarina and I talked for a few minutes. I got undressed to my comfort level, as she left the room. She came back in a few minutes, and the massage began. Katarina gave an excellent massage. All areas of concern/pain were addressed. Deep Tissue, Trigger Point Therapy, Mayofacial Release, Swedigh, Raindrop therapy, Hot Stone, Craniosacral, Japanese Facial Massage, Zoko Shin Do, Zen Shiatsu, and Access Consciousness, are all offered. Granted, I don't know what all of these are, but perhaps I will just have to find out for myself. You can call, make an appointment on line, or text, for an appointment. I just happened to call this morning, and was called back within 30 minutes. Will I go back, yes, most definitely! I have tried so many places for massages, both large (like the corporate chains), and small, individually owned businesses. I like Alivio Massage Therapy. Good customer service, great response to your call. It's a comfortable atmosphere, and the price fits in with other massage businesses. Thank you. See you there! read more

Absolutely fantastic. One of the best massages I have had in Denver.

It really says something when a client can leave feeling an ounce better. I've been an on and off again client at this studio -- but this time my visit was a bit different. I recently lost my father and have been dealing with the immense grief. Along with that I have packed my plate of life with far too many activities -- being a full time flight attendant as well as a musical theatre actress in the area. I've had so much tension build up in my mind and body - that I was on the brink of a total meltdown. Today's visit was exactly what I needed. I was treated with such positive energy and grace. And I felt such at ease to really take a small chunk of time and concentrate on myself. Whole heartedly grateful. I love this massage studio and everyone who works here. Thanks for making a great space for us to come to in our neighborhood. read more

I just love this place. Donna just knew all the right places to touch and with such a caring and nurturing way, made me feel very cared for. Just what I needed to relax from a very stressful week. Thank you! read more

I absolutely don't want to write a review for Alison. I don't want to write a review for her because I want to keep her to myself. However, I AM writing a review for her because I have a deep respect for Alison and her style of therapy. (The reason I DON'T want to write a review is because I think she will be too booked!) It took me 2 years and 7 different massage therapists to finally find Alison. She knows "the map," as it were. When I say "the map," I mean pressure points and anatomy. Alison is the rare therapist who knows the type of pressure you want, can give it, and also knows "the map." I won't say anything further. I have revealed my massage therapy secret only because I think she is f***ing great and deserves serious Kudos. read more

I purchased a Living Social coupon for a massage at Alivio. What a fabulous massage. I told Alison Cox, my massage therapist, that my lower back hurt and I had seen my Chiropractor and it still hurt. Two days after the maasage and I still feel great. Usually a massage does not give me lasting effects, but not this time. My back feels great and I actually received a full hour massage. I plan to return at full cost as she is worth it. read more

Alison is an amazing therapist. She really works to get to the heart of the problems in your body. She's attentive and skilled in her craft. I always feel better after seeing her. I've been to hundreds of therapists and she's absolutely one of my favorites! I see her as much as I can afford to--and her reasonable prices and specials make that easier. You will not be disappointed! And she's centrally located and parking is easy. read more

I'm not even kidding when I say this was the best massage I've ever had. I found Alison through Groupon and tried her because she's within walking distance of my office. I have some ongoing issues with tension, an old case of whiplash, and a hip injury so massages usually hurt and I resist going until I feel sort of twisted up. She used a combination of Swedish, myofascial, and deep tissue techniques and while there were moments of pressure, it didn't ever hurt and I literally floated out of there feeling a few years younger. Her space is simple - what looks to be a former bedroom in a Victorian style house that has been converted to office space - but it was pleasant and quiet. Alison herself has a great energy to her and is very pleasant. Did I mention I was able to book my appointment online and get in within two days? I will definitely be going back. read more

I have been here a few times and seen two therapists and every visit has been a massage miracle. They seem to have "knot radar" because they find every achy nick and cranny. Next thing you know you feel like a new person. Only downside is they are in an old cap hill house converted office spaces on the top floor so in warmer weather even with their air on it is very warm. I can't wait for my next massage here. read more

Carrie was awesome! I found her through Groupon and definitely, she made a huge difference in my back and shoulder pain. Best of the best!

I was able to get in a same day appointment. I was able to find the place easily. When I arrived I went upstairs and completed the one page paperwork in the waiting room. I waited for about 5 minutes and then was taken into the room. We talked briefly to identify my focus areas. Booking was easy and quick return calls. Massage therapist was very strong and used too much pressure (guess thats my fault for not speaking up) so I was sore for the next two days. read more

I had a massage with Courtney last night, and I will definitely be going back! My Husband got it as a Groupon since I've never had a massage before. I was a little nervous about how it would feel since I wasn't sure what to expect, but she made it very comfortable. When she first started, she checked with me to see how the pressure was. I was very pleased that we were the only two there, since it's literally a small room. For a first-timer, it was nice to have just us instead of dealing with other people. Before I even left, I bought my Husband a Groupon and made him an appointment to see Courtney! His included the V.I.B membership which was an AMAZING deal, you save quite a bit from it. I will most likely be making this a monthly habit! Thank you Courtney!!! read more

An update from my visit 6 months ago....still an awesome experience. Since my last visit, I managed to re-injure my rotator cuff to the point where I could barely move my right shoulder. Alison used some traction techniques on my shoulder, along with massage. Today--the day after--my shoulder has the best range of motion I've had in months! I have been receiving massage therapy for about 20 years, and Alison is probably the most intelligent, gifted and diligent therapist I've met. While I prefer deep tissue massage for my aches, Alivio offers a wide variety of massage options. Super easy scheduling and parking. read more

I have been coming to Alison for a 90 min massage regularly for several years. I come not just for relaxation but to get my body back into working condition. I prefer a deep massage that works out all the knots and imbalances in the body and it's been very hard to find someone who satisfies this requirement. Alison does a phenomenal job and usually knows exactly where the problem areas are and fixes them. I continued getting massages from her through my pregnancy and now that I am breastfeeding and my body is in need of help like never before! Alison changes her routine depending on what my body needs and I am extremely grateful and happy to be her loyal customer. Highly recommend her if you are looking for serious body work! read more

Carrie is GREAT! I have seen her for chronic lower back pain as well as a pinched nerve in my neck. She is very experienced, has great hands, a cool laid-back attitude and got me feeling better in no time. I started to see her regularly and my neck is no longer and issue and my back feels better than it has in years. I would strongly recommend making an appointment for any chronic pain or just to feel better and avoid future problems. read more

Lately, I have been experiencing a lot of lower back and hip pain. Katarina's deep tissue has been exactly what I have needed. I have seen Katarina twice now. Sometimes I leave a little sore (good sore) but in a matter of a day my pain disappears. In fact, my "everyday hip pain" has been pain free for a week now (I got a massage last Friday). I have no negatives to my experiences - super friendly and laid back. Disclaimer though, I was not looking for a relaxing/peaceful massage at the spa. I needed some serious muscle work in specific areas to help for the long term. She even has a cool tool to help locate those specific tightened muscles - I call it the "prong" but I know there is an actual name for it ;) read more

Highly recommend Alison! I hadn't been to a massage therapist in quite a while and decided to take advantage of one of her offers. While the facility is pretty basic, she is outstanding. Very personable - she was checking in throughout the one hour massage to see how I was doing. I left with a far better energy than when I walked in. I ll use her now on a regular basis. I really appreciate she is building her clientele through her own efforts...speaks volumes to her commitment and her confidence! read more

I have been going to Carrie M. for years now, and I can say without a second thought that she is the best massage therapist. She is always dead on and knows exactly what my body needs without me saying anything, and then I always feel loads better. My body is happier and healthier. I'm always excited for my massage. Carrie is very kind and calming. She is exactly what you want in a massage therapist. read more

I went to see Alison in a near "emergency" situation, when at the end of another stressful week my back was in so much pain, I almost couldn't stand up straight. Alison was able to see me in the same afternoon, and it was one of the best decisions I could have made for myself! She is very professional, but also personable, and clearly is well-trained and interested in person-centered treatment. She really listened to my symptoms and worked hard (literally and figuratively) to address my issues. I paid for a 90 minute massage, and purchased a Yelp certificate, which was very helpful in off-setting the cost, but I would pay full price without batting an eye! My back was extremely tender before I started the massage, and Alison used deep pressure that was intense but also very therapeutic. On a very personal note, I have a hair-loss condition that can make me feel self-conscious and uncomfortable during massages. However, Alison was so thoughtful, considerate, and sensitive, and even used this to our advantage and gave me an AMAZING scalp and neck massage that totally helped my pain. I HIGHLY recommend Alivio Massage Therapy and I can't wait to return to Alison for more!! read more
