So....I'm sure there are going to be a number of angry reviews about this event. Luckily, I'm not…read moreone of those. I ordered my ticket long before the event and received my bracelet in the mail. I just had to walk thru the activation line and I was on my way. Apparently, the lines at will call were horrendous. Issue 1 for the event. Well, I guess issue 1 was really the rain. Not their fault but they could have a bit more. For example, but boards down where people would be standing in line. Not just in a few travel areas. It was great that they had tents for the restaurants serving up food. However, there weren't a lot of places to sit given the wetness. Not sure if everyone was aware, but there was food at the tents. They didn't have to wait for the food trucks. The good truck lines were ridiculous. I didn't go to a single one. I got all my food in the tents. A number of the lines were very long. But some were pretty short. I had 10 taco points (each is worth $1). I bought 4 tacos - 2 at $2 each and 2 at $3 each. The bracelets stored your points. When you ordered, the vendor would scan it to deduct the points needed. Attendees could add more value at certain designated tents. Beverages were available. But lines were very bad. Especially for margarita line. I didn't bother. They could use more of those tents instead of bracelet refilling tents. There were almost no lines at those tents. There was a tent (La Banderita tortilla) giving out free tacos and chances to win a free t shirt. You could also get a photo taken and printed! Besides my free taco, I got food from El Myriacho, jefe's, Rreal Tacos, and 95th Street tacos. Overall, I wasn't all the wowed. And I'd rather just go to a restaurant and sit down or visit a food truck during their regular business times. I will note they also had other treats like ice cream and king of pops. A pro- good music! Overall, just too many people for the number of vendors and workers. They oversold the event. I won't be back.

Now to be fair, if you're a duck or a plant this would be the BEST DAY EVER! But rain can put a damper on any day. The lines were long & parking was insane because Drum Roll please .... LOTS OF PEOPLE CAME OUT TO ENJOY TACOS!! Now the line I was in was a small taco business called 95th Street Tacos & it was great! I was able to get in line twice but then their line got long to. SUPPORT SMALL BUSINESSES!! I'm willing to attend this event with a new location. Maybe Piedmont Park?!? It's much bigger.

I have been to every Winter Beer Carnival in ATL…read more First Year - Art Gallery - AWESOME SAUCE. All I remember was "shutting the place down" while dancing to 80s classics (great DJ!) and finding a stash of prizes in my purse the next morning. Second Year - Random Lot in Midtown - loved the much bigger venue, lots more games, plenty of space to roam around. It helped it was beautiful weather that year. But I waited forever for food (almost 45 mins for a funnel cake!) and the lines were so long for the bathrooms that I walked over to Cheetah Lounge to use their facilities. BONUS - the location was super convenient to MARTA. And Midtown in general; I walked there and back that year. Third Year - Atlantic Station - The infamous freezing-my-butt-off year. I was so cold I couldn't drink enough to make myself forget about it. They were very poorly prepared for this situation. Also, the layout of the beer tents was super confusing, there were people everywhere, and the games weren't as fun/didn't have cool prizes anymore. Worst of all...we had a medical issue in our group, and I was absolutely floored that no one could tell me where the medical tent was. I had a guy who was literally gushing blood, and all the volunteers (even event staff) were clueless. We finally found "first aid" which was some volunteer with a first aid kit, and I was shocked that for a beer festival this large they didn't have an actual first aid stand... you know, for the idiots who drink way too much or, like my friend, injure themselves. So I resigned myself to not going this year, since last year was pretty awful and I'm supposed to be on a diet. But at the last minute my plans changed, and I was back for a fourth year. I still don't like this location. It's tough to get to without driving or taxi-ing. It's also CRAZY windy over there, so even if it's not too cold you'll get a wind chill. The layout is still confusing. And- either they sold too many tickets or the booths were just too close together, but the lines were out of control and impossible to get around even if you weren't in line for beer. Definitely the longest lines at a beer festival I've had to wait in. We got there around 4:30pm, an hour and a half into the festival, and almost every table was out of one or two of the beers they were offering. It's a little annoying to feel like you have to pay for the VIP ticket in order to, you know, drink the beers you were expecting to be able to try. The lines for games were also ridiculous, and I didn't really see any fun/interesting prizes. Many of the seemingly less-popular games didn't have any attendants either....I guess they didn't have a good handle on their volunteers. The keg racing thing that took up a huge amount of space ended up breaking down towards the end. As for beers. I didn't try anything particularly outstanding, or rare, or anything like that. Kind of a bummer. I'm trying to think of something positive to say. I loved the addition of Food Trucks to the event. The DJ was decent. The company was awesome. Oh, and Yelp! was there with some sexy volunteers! After this year's experience, I really don't see myself returning unless I get free tickets somehow. It seems like just another event where they don't care at all about crowd control or capping ticket sales.

4,500th Review I…read morespent a number of years working for The Coca-Cola Company early in my career, which totally hooked me on the brand's history. That time on the clock turned into decades of hunting down vintage original memorabilia; what started out as a simple hobby quickly evolved into a deep appreciation for the art of creative advertising and collecting these nostalgic pieces of history. For years, it was all about the thrill of the hunt--filling shelves with historic bottles and toys, covering the walls in vintage porcelain, paper and tin signs, and packing display cases with "smalls" like old pocket knives, promo lighters, and vintage pins. But honestly, nowadays I'm transitioning from collecting to downsizing a collection that spanned decades. I've had my fun curating my home office and soaking in the nostalgia but these days my interest has somewhat faded and my focused has changed even though I still cherish a few of my favorite pieces. I'm still a fan of this global brand today, open any of my refrigerators and you'll find an assortment of all my favorites; Coca-Cola Classic, Simply, Minute Maid and Dasani Products. There's probably not another brand that has created a more worldwide following...

That was in downtown Atlanta on May 8, 1886. Fast forward to modern days, it has evolved to a multibillion dollar industry! I believe the formula has changed since the very first time. It is now in all over the world. The beverage company has added many different versions, product lines, and flavors! There's Coke, Diet Coke, Coke Zero, Gold Peak Teas, Fuze, Minute Maid, Smart Water, Vitaminwater, Fresca, Fa!rlife, and much more!! I enjoy the Coke Zero and the Fa!rlife milk, and the Fa!rlife chocolate protein drinks. This brand is in every grocery store and gas stations. Well, everywhere! There's even stores with clothing, hats, and gadgets accessories. I like them so much that I have added their stocks in retirement account. ;) It's a fun way to build wealth. It's funny that I've enjoyed different versions of Coke all of my life. I grew up having it. The best ones were in the Midwest in the rural route areas where the drugstore made the syrup versions! I also enjoy the glass bottles as well. Overall, it's the stable treat in my house. Prices have been climbing up the past few years. I now buy at Costco to save $$$.

CHINESE NEW YEAR FESTIVAL!…read more We finally made it to the Chinese New Year Festival sponsored by the Taipei Economic and Cultural Center located in Chamblee, GA. In years past, it has been too cold or rainy and we just did not attend. Today was a perfectly beautiful day so we headed out early. We parked at the shuttle site, (Interactive College of Technology) which was very close and even walkable. If you are driving, it is very important for you to not attempt to park at the festival site because this parking is designed for individuals who are actually shopping at the China Town Shops. It is unfair for you to park here when you are not visiting the vendors and are only attending the festival. Consider how you might feel if you are not able to service your customers because people were not respecting your customer parking and not using the designated festival parking. Festival parking is designated for a reason, please use it! We arrived at the site around 9:30 and things were already rolling. We paid the ten dollar admission fee, ($5 each) and entered the tent where you will find vendors selling souvenirs and services, (meditation, yoga, language classes). From the tent, you will enter the main building where the magic happens! There were several vendors selling delicious savory dishes, beverages and desserts. The food was delicious and very much appreciated because it has been a while since I have had really delicious Chinese food. One of my favorite vendors was the Wei Taiwanese Cuisine where things are not exactly what they seem. That chicken sausage is actually filled with perfectly seasoned pork, no chicken. That "parsley" is actually cilantro but the young vendor explained that she grew up calling cilantro parsley. Okay then! Another favorite dish was the rice noodles from the Science and Technology Institute, (don't ask). These were the best noodles that I have tasted in a long time as they were perfectly seasoned and very fine. They simply melt in your mouth and I definitely had to make a second visit to this table. We almost missed the Big Ole Chicken being sold out of the Java Saga truck. It was located in the far left corner with access from inside the tent. It looked so delicious that we had to give it a try. I believe that they take a massive chicken breast, pound it out, season, batter and fry it up. It is huge and was almost too much for the two of us. We did the job and ate it all and it was everything! Here is what you need to know about this chicken: It is the ultimate street food, served on two pieces of paper with no utensils. You are to simply pull it apart and eat it. However, Ms. Madelyn could not handle this and had to pull out her portable metal utensils and go to work! It was absolutely delicious and something I would look for if I am at a food truck event in the future. Let's talk about the festival and how you can optimize your experience should you decide to attend tomorrow's event: First of all, get their early so that you can get those souvenirs and your food before it gets to crowded. If you are taking young kids, this is even more important because the crowds just make it miserable for kids and you want them to be able to get something to eat and grab a seat. Seats are very limited! Decide what you want to do. Do you want to sit and watch the entertainment where you will be surrounded by throngs of people hovering over you so that you can't freely move around, (restroom, food)? Or would you prefer to stay on the periphery where you can eat and freely move about but may have some difficulty seeing the stage due to the crowds. We were able to enjoy the food and entertainment before things got too crazy. I was also the first person to get my face painted which of course sparked curiosity with the little kids who then started lining up for their turn. By the time the crowd had swelled to an uncomfortable level, we were on our way out. Next year, we will have a slightly different strategy and arrive by 9 am because they were up and running by this time and we love being in early enough to engage the vendors and ask questions. We enjoy all of the cultural experiences that Atlanta has to offer and are always willing to support the various communities. I definitely recommend this festival for the entire family. *** I would love to see them create separate entry and exit points in order to better control foot traffic. ***If they had a designated food tent separate from the entertainment, this would definitely help to ease the crowding and allow easier access to food vendors. ***Ladies if you go, lose the bag and just make sure that you have pants with lots of accessible pockets for you cash and camera. You only need to wear light layers because the tent is heated and the hall is warm enough for just a light sweater or poncho. All dishes were phenomenally priced between $3 and $6 so you will want to have a lot of small bills.

My child was excited to go but after the first day she was terrified. I couldn't get this knot out of my stomach. She started coming home saying her hair was ugly, she didn't like her earrings, and she couldn't talk to her teacher. I didn't say much I just listened to her. She is 3 years old and I was very sad to hear her say this. The final straw was when she was screaming when I went to drop her off and she saw the teacher coming and she immediately had a meltdown begging me not to leave her. This was a NO GO for me. The carpets are filthy. You would think after summer break they would have cleaned them, but no, they are covered with other rugs. Most childcare facilities no longer have carpet. Perhaps the owner should visit others. Also, if I was an owner and someone pulled their child after only a few weeks I would want to know why. Not this one, she sat in her office and didn't say anything she actually waved goodbye. The director told me that, "yo baby is fine"....this is when she wanted me to leave her in. That type of grammar is not what I'm interested in my child hearing at this age. The owner should definitely get involved in her school and walk around.
