I was surprised by how much I liked this festival. There was a good mix of vendors - jewelry (of course), paintings, photography, kitsch, toiletries, clothes, cakes...a lot of stuff was there. I bought cakes from Loretta Belles cakes, skin cream from Beard Bars, exfoliating soaps from Body Bliss, and shea butter from Pure Shea. Yeah, I like toiletries...A LOT.
I had a beer and a margarita from the Sweetwater van, and I was glad to have a choice other than beer or wine, so good on Sweetwater for that! My friend had pizza, and he liked it, but all the standard festival goodies were there - all fried up for your dining pleasure!
We heard two bands while we were relaxing on the lawn. (A different band plays every hour.) One was pretty good but the other was odd...no singing, just instrumental playing. And the music was a little slow for the time of day. I almost dozed off on them.
The only downside to this festival were the dogs. The area on the driveway into the park is really narrow once the vendor tents set up, and tripping over the dogs - sometimes 2-3 to a person, got on my nerves. The festival rules say no dogs, but when so many people brought them, I can see how security would get tired of turning people back, but I wish they would have anyway.
If I had known there was only one review for this festival, I'd have taken some photos. I'm soooo sorry about that, folks, because this is a great festival. If I lived in walking distance of the park, I would have gone back and forth all day to hear the bands and buy more soap. read more
