Warning long post but wouldn't do you justice if I didn't elaborate…read more I have been dealing with a rare chronic breast inflammatory disease known as Granulomatous Mastitis (GM) since Jan 2017. My symptoms were a lump on my left breast that would flare up become painful, bruise, grow and swell to the point of drainage. I was on multiple medications throughout my treatment including Methotrexate, Prednisone, Azathioprine, Humira and Enbrel to help reduce the inflammation. I also had it surgically removed in Aug 2017 but the breast lump returned 10 months later very aggressive and instead of 1 lump I now had 3. They were 3cm, 5cm and 7cm which after all these medications nothing was helping enough and there isn't enough research so every medication felt like a guessing game and the side effects of these medicines were ruining my life. Physically, emotionally and mentally as well as I developed allergic reactions 2 medications, became iron deficient, dealt with hair loss, bruising and my emotional stability on these steroids was soo much depending on dosage and my breast flare ups. By now it is March of 2021 and I've had 4 appointments 3 out of 4 telling me to get a mastectomy by 3 different providers. I only had 1 doctor who said you should try meditation and acupuncture before you choose a mastectomy but don't tell your other providers I said so. You need to get to the root cause of this problem. He ended up leaving the country back to India in May 2021. Due to the pandemic I was finding it very challenging to find an acupuncturist taking new patients that was in my price range. I live in Chicago (Ukrainian Village) and the thought of traveling to the burbs (Mt. Prospect) wasn't even crossing my mind at the time. One of my girlfriends talked so much about how her acupuncturist (Victoria at Healing Paradise) helped her conceive and manage her auto immune issues that I became intrigued. I reviewed rates which were very reasonable and decided to schedule an appt online. I started seeing Victoria at the end of May 2021. It hasn't even been a year yet but I have had an US in Aug 2021 and one in Feb 2022 which both show proof that these lumps are shrinking. As of Oct 2021 I am not longer on any medication only vitamins/supplements. My 1st ultrasound in Aug 2021 said it shrunk 2 cm and doctors said it isn't enough you still need a mastectomy. The only provider I had that was rooting for my healing was Victoria. She gave me so much hope and her telling me she doesn't give up easily helped calm me. My 2nd ultrasound was in Feb 2022 shows 1 lump is gone the 2nd is 1/4 of the size and the 3rd which was the biggest is at 4 cm.
