Chicken Tamales were delicious! Great spot to have breakfast. Service was fast. Lots of people picking up to go orders.

I've been a few times and honestly had no idea that they have burgers and wings. I also didn't realize that they serve breakfast tacos all day long! My friend and I like to come here before going to shows at White Oak Music Hall because we can get a quick bite to eat and a strong drink for a reasonable price. I've had the Al Pastor, Smoked Pork, and Chicken Tacos. I've enjoyed all of them, but I really enjoy the Al Pastor (the pineapple really elevates the flavor). The tacos are pretty filling. One is plenty if you're not that hungry. They have some really good margaritas too! I've had the Cadillac Margarita and Frozen House Margarita with Tajin. They're boozy and refreshing. They also have flavored margaritas like Spicy Cucumber, Watermelon, and Pineapple Hibiscus and the best part is that you get a choice of tequila or mezcal. If you're not in the mood for tequila or mezcal, they do have other cocktails that are vodka and rum based. They have minimal seating inside, but two patios with plenty of seating. One patio is covered, while the other is not. If you happen to be there after 7 pm on a Thurs, Fri, or Sat, go check out their Speakeasy (Mijo's Mezcal Bar). The one downside is the parking. Their parking lot is small and it is hit or miss with getting a spot. If the lot is full, there is free street parking in the neighborhood. This is a great spot on the Northside. The staff is friendly, the wait is never long, and the food and drinks are on point!

Both restaurants serve almost the exact same thing, and I think which one you prefer really just comes down to personal taste. The menu is pretty straightforward. You can get three, four, or five chicken fingers in a combo with fries, Texas toast, dipping sauce, and a drink. The chicken itself is good, but nothing particularly special. Their signature sauce is very similar to Cane's sauce, although I find Layne's version to be a little more peppery. Personally, I prefer Cane's fries over Layne's, and overall I think Cane's has the edge when it comes to the food. But again, that's really just a preference thing. One major difference between the two locations is the setup. Cane's has an indoor dining area where you can sit down and eat, while Layne's is primarily a drive-through restaurant. They do have some outdoor tables and a walk-up ordering window. I actually tried walking up to the window and knocked a few times, but nobody ever came over to help me. I eventually gave up and went through the drive-through instead. There were people eating at the outdoor tables, so I'm not sure what was going on with the walk-up window. As far as value goes, the prices are reasonable, and the portion sizes are fine. It's pretty much what you'd expect from a typical fast-food chicken finger restaurant. Overall, Layne's is a perfectly fine place to grab a quick lunch or dinner. The food is good enough, the value is fair, and the drive-through makes it convenient. Personally, I'd probably choose the Cane's across the street, but I can absolutely see why some people might prefer Layne's. Neither is dramatically different from the other, and it really just comes down to which version of chicken fingers, fries, and sauce you like better.

Today I went and again they left something out of the bag. Didn't realize until I got home. This has happened about 6 times over the course of the last 2-3 years. Doesn't seem like a lot but it's annoying because I don't go all the time. Only one time did I go back because it was a big item but it's mostly been the 2 tacos left out. Today's items left out were the 2 tacos. She asked if I wanted taco sauce so I assumed the tacos were in the bag. Got home and they were in fact not in the bag. It's not super far but it's an inconvenience to me to drive all the way back to get $1.79 worth of food that should have been in the bag. Other than that the food is always as expected - hot and fast. This may be it, maybe the Gods don't want me to eat the tacos. May have to quit JIB and find a different breakfast fast food item to enjoy. Sad because we have been jack in the boxing since I was a kid but how many more times can I not get the food I order before I say enough. And yes I know that after the 1-2 times I should have started checking but I forget Well learn from me, check your bags.

A Special Thank You to Mrs. Judy…read more I recently moved to Houston, Texas, and decided to try something different, so I stopped by Whataburger at Restaurant 813. Since it was my first time eating at Whataburger, I wasn't familiar with the menu or how everything worked. Mrs. Judy was my cashier and waitress, and I just want to take a moment to recognize how wonderful she was. She was incredibly kind, patient, welcoming, and helpful while I explained that I had never been to Whataburger before. She took the time to answer my questions and made me feel comfortable rather than making me feel like I should already know what to do. Moving to a new city can be an adjustment, and having someone show that kind of genuine kindness really means a lot. Mrs. Judy gave me a great first impression of Whataburger, and I am very grateful for the way she treated me. Please recognize Mrs. Judy for her excellent customer service. Employees like her are what make customers want to come back. Thank you, Mrs. Judy, for making my first Whataburger experience such a pleasant one!

The caramelized onions paired with the crunchy onions were a double whammy that could topple a few hot dog title holders. The real winner, though, was the sauce--definitely something Asian-inspired. I got their famous hotdog with spicy mayo, french onion, sautéed onions, and hot sauce. (That's how it comes standard) don't get me wrong it's definitely a lot going on from the flavors and the messiness of the dog, but the flavors balance out very well and the all beef hot dog is delicious. There's no spice from the mayo or hot sauce so if you don't like spice you'll be fine. I also tried their bulgogi fries which came with bulgogi meat, jalepenos, cheese and cilantro. My first reaction was it was delicious but it wouldn't be something I would get again, but after I kept eating it I realized this is actually really good and now when I go back I'll definitely try it again. Overall I definitely recommend this place to visitors or even locals
