We had an excellent match with a tutor named Taylor C. from Suprex. Surprex staff kindly asked us if we were okay with having a male tutor since most people request a female. My kids LOVED each day of the Wonders of the World week. We saw results in 6 weeks - our 3 year old knew numbers, letters, songs, colors, emotions and…read moredirectional phrases by her second month at Girasol School. She has continued to understand more and build on her vocabulary by being able to use the words she knows plus the context cues when I speak with her in Spanish at home (so when I tell her to get her 'zapatos y calcetines' she knows zapatos is shoes and infers that calcetines must be socks). She will watch cartoons in Spanish and English with equal enthusiasm, beyond Dora, and has taught her 2 year old little brother numbers, songs and salutations. We have been so happy with her experience and progress that we plan to enroll him with her in the fall. The teachers encourage her to question and explore beyond language. Some recent examples are coming home with facts about bugs and wanting to measure everything. The value foundation of the school really shines through the friends she has made and how they interact, the balance of challenge and encouragement from her teachers and her overall confidence in new language, math and science concepts. We are also very excited about the Spanish summer camp program. My only worry is what we will do when its time for Kindergarten, because this is the only school in the area that is truly dual language immersion and Cy Fair doesn't begin dual language learning this early.
