We had an excellent match with a tutor named Taylor C. from Suprex. Surprex staff kindly asked us if we were okay with having a male tutor since most people request a female. The main campus also offers Summer Camp and a Saturday morning language & other school program(s) & culture introduction that have been really helpful for adults and children. They also have annual carnival where they set up kids' activities with vendors and other parent-led supports as a fundraiser. There are semester-end performances/parties. It is a big commitment to go to Chinatown area since we live about 30-50mn away depending on the traffic, but having my children to be completely bilingual and appreciating Eastern culture would be a priority to us... it's worth it

We looked at several mandarin preschool programs in Houston but when we toured the facility and spoke with the director, Jade, we knew this was the one. My daughter has been attending ICC since she was 18 months old and she will be starting Pre-K 4 this fall, and we are over the moon that ICC will be expanding into an elementary program so that she can stay through at least 5th grade. There are basically 2 sides to this institute: regular school and the Refugee department. I have been with the Refugee department for over a year. With my education and experience I was hired on the spot. The best part is that the person who hired me also became my mentor into not only the procedures but also into BEI's culture. This alone was was priceless. Saying that, THIS company cares for the teachers as well as the student body. If I have any questions they would be answered almost immediately. During my first year I have had adult students from 10 different countries. This is an EXCELLENT place to teach students that are anxious to learn and for me to stay culturally connected which I have missed since moving back to the States. The staff works diligently in the student's placement so that they will not be overwhelmed or bored to tears. My personal schedule seems to be a priority in keeping me engaged. In 1988, BEI was one of the few private schools in Texas authorized by the US Immigration and Naturalization Service to teach English and Civics to the newly legalized immigrants who had received amnesty in the Houston area.
