Friendly enough service (they put up…read morewith my bad Spanish), dishes came out one at a time only (making things leisurely), and the food was both excellent and totally unfamiliar. I consider myself well-traveled/eaten, but it was still just so different!
We had the two signature dishes: snails in their shell and tripe with chickpeas. The snails were nice and tender, but very salty. The tripe was excellent, with a delicious broth and just the right amount of bite. The real surprise was the "sea eels" (we later googled the term "gulas" and learned that they're actually fishcake imitation patties), in a strange-sounding dish with fried potatoes and fried egg, but they were cooked perfectly (the fries were super fresh) and it came together very nicely.
