We currently live in a Dawson floor plan at Algonquin Square Apartments (2 bed + den/2 bath), and couldn't be happier. We've been in our apartment for nearly a year now, and have really enjoyed being here! The apartment is spacious and gorgeously appointed. I love that I have a gas stove! There are plenty of windows for natural lighting, high ceilings, and the den is the perfect playroom for our toddler son. We've met some great people living here, too! From our neighbors to the team (office and maintenance alike) -- everybody is great! I've been especially impressed with the office team. We are always notified if we have a package or they'll just leave them inside the apartment - huge plus when I get home after office hours! I've spoken with the Property Manager on several occasions, and she has been so courteous, polite and professional even when I felt like a question or request was petty/silly. Questions are answered quickly, and any minor issue has always been resolved within a matter of hours (such as an issue with our shower). Another huge plus, living right next to the Commons! Everything we need is within walking distance, which is great in the summer when we want to get outside. We were only able to take advantage of the pool a few times last summer, but it was never over crowded and always the perfect temperature. The fitness room is perfectly adequate for what we need. I read some of the other reviews and was a bit surprised about the negative comments. My guess for people who said their rent was increased mid-lease is that they didn't understand how their concession would be applied/didn't pay attention when it was explained to them. I really can't say enough good things about the community. The buildings and apartments are beautiful. The only thing I wished it had was a play area for kids. I'd definitely recommend AS to anybody searching for a home in the area! read more

My ceiling suffered from water damage from above. Notified Algonquin Square via work order. Abraham and Nestor stopped by, photographed the damage. Within a couple of days the office called regarding a time to complete the work. The worker came, very polite and professional, did the work to perfection. We returned from a vacation to find our heat wasn't working. Hannan in the office helped us right away. Abraham came after hours to diagnose the problem. It wasn't fixable right away, so he set us up with two night space heaters. It only took less than two days to completely repair the unit. Abraham is very knowledgeable and communicative. Tired of seeing police at the property every week and weekend. Every day there is a noise disturbance. People apparently can't control themselves, their dogs, and property management does not handle these people properly which is why the cops are constantly at the property. At what point does management realize that they need to vacate repeatedly problematic people from their apartments? Anything to help the bottom line I guess, even if it's at the residents expense. Choosing better tenants from the beginning would probably help also. This is supposed to be a "luxury" apartment but it is not at all. Don't be fooled by the nice appearance of the buildings. read more

I had a minor leak from a sink in the Master Bedroom. The maintenance staff was out the next day and while I was on the phone they fixed the leak and installed a broken light bulb all while I was still on the phone. Great staff here at Algonquin Square Apartments. read more

My only discrepancy is that I wish I could give a higher rating than 5 stars. We had a pipe burst close to midnight in December, but I was astonished at how quickly the maintenance team responded! Even before we were able to submit a work order, they were already knocking on our door for a damage assessment. They worked around the clock and before 11am, we had dryers in our apartment. Those guys deserve a raise! read more

The tenants upstairs have a dog , I love dogs but not when they have no rug down and the dog plays with his ball all day. Across the floor. The flooring is luxury vinyl with no cork under. The man walks like he weighs 500 pounds. If you want peace and quiet here (I work from home) then take a third floor and let the 2nd floor tenant suffer. When I first moved here I told him, I know what I can hear downstairs, but I don't know what you hear so if I am doing something that bothers you upstairs, please let me know, well, that went right over his head and he gave me a blank stare. When I moved in I had an issue with the refrigerator and it took four complaints (they even removed the ice maker?) and then I requested a new refrigerator. Food was already spoiled. The stackable leaks water out on a small load. The maintenance stated these stackable's cant handle small loads, you need to do medium., How about you level the unit?? stay away from this unit. 01-103 You will be very sorry. If you decide to rent anywhere, go at 5 to 6 pm when people are home so you can hear the noise before you commit. I am breaking the lease. read more

RENTER BEWARE. My rent was raised $200 a month mid lease. I was paying 1,700 a month, to listen to neighbors talk on the phone, babies crying, watching movies, and take a piss. YEAH TAKE A PISS, that's DISGUSTING! You're paying for the location. Parking was terrible. Algonquin square claims they are pet friendly, but charges a pet "privilege" fee and makes you pay for the grass your dog pees on. This association was very pro-landlord and ended up screwing me over even after I moved out! Skyridge is owned by the same company. You will find a better deal elsewhere twice the size and cheaper. Yeah they have maintenance on site, but every landlord has a handyman that's on call. Garbage is susposed to be picked up by 8:00pm, most of the time it was after 10:00pm. read more

Algonquin Square Apartments was my boyfriend and I's first home together. We signed a one-year lease only to find out halfway through our lease, our rent went up $200+ a month due to some "concession" being removed without consent/say-so! Needless to say, this left a very bad taste in our mouths with the Management Company. My boyfriend and I were extremely frustrated and knew immediately we would be cancelling our lease as soon we could! This caused an unforeseen financial strain on both of us for the remainder of our lease. The overall living of the complex was average. The units were very nice (brand new when we moved in). Parking is terrible. It is very apparent that there are not enough parking spaces for the amount of residents/units. A lot of our neighbors with private entry's had to park in a completely different parking lot due to overcrowding of cars. Also, the units are not very soundproof, contrary to what we were told when we moved in. We could hear every step, door slam, dog bark and baby cry our neighbors made. There are some things we really enjoyed about living here such as the (heated) pool, 24/7 fitness center and the friendly maintenance crew and staff. They had resident get togethers every few months, which would be a nice way to meet people if you are new to the area. Any time there was an issue in our unit, maintenance would be there the same day. Also, I LOVED the location, so close to the commons/shopping/restaurants! I think my boyfriend and I both learned our lesson with renting from a management company! Overall, the rent is much too high for the space you get. read more

This review is.long overdue. While I loved my apartment, I was rarely there and yet still had an unpleasant experience. The maintenance staff was fabulous. But...packages were stolen from the mailroom. The garbage situation was disgusting. I was charged for non-existent pet damage when it came time to move out (I had no pets. My daughter brought hers to pick up my mail when I traveled and a nosy neighbor reported it). Finally, because I was going to be out of town at the end of my lease I turned in my keys about a week early. They moved someone into my apartment right away while I was still paying rent. Those lucky folks lived off my utilities during MY lease and lived off of rent that I PAID. So unethical. read more

Looks great on the outside, but the contractors they hire are terrible. Lawn crew misses areas all the time. Worst snow removal team I've ever seen. Loose half the parking spots during winter and the walkways are taken care of by the on site team. Always covered in snow or ice, very surprised nobody has gotten hurt. Also I like dogs , but not when they are barking all day and there owners don't clean up after them. If you need an apartment don't be fooled by first look. read more

We currently live in a very nice 2 bedroom 2 bath apartment. We really like the community so far and the management team as well. The maintenance guys are amazing. Unfortunately thats were the good ends. The walls are super thin. For the amount we are paying in rent the walls should have much better soundproofing. Since we are on the first floor we can hear every foot step, every flush, and what our upstair neighbor is watching. I hate to say as much as I do like the place I would not recommend it, unless you get a top floor apartment. Also, good luck using your oven, because the smoke alarms are overly sensitive. read more

Worst apartment experience. We travel US for work and stay in lots of apartments around the country. Our company books for us. We stay 6-9 months with our pets at a time. Our washer/dryer broke and it took a month to replace it, the apartment has no overhead lights in the bedroom or living room which is horrible, at move out we Always deep clean our apartment to make sure our company gets the deposit back and a bogus charge of "carpet worn out" and had to be replaced in the bedroom was charged which is insane. We have a video walk thru before departing. They nickel and dime you to death and we would never recommend this place. read more

We moved out of Algonquin Square apartments three weeks ago. We left the apartment as clean as it was the day we moved in. There were no damages to cabinets or walls, bathtub, etc. We did not have pets so the carpet was in great shape. They are charging us 380 dollars to replace a fridge door and freezer door. The exact words of Nicole, who is the manager there were, "The team has decided that if there was one scratch or ten on the door they must be replaced." Please be aware that I saw the pictures of our doors and there were three SMALL marks. Management gave us no heads-up about being aware of small scratches and trying to fix them before moving out. I would not recommend moving in to these apartments as they are already over-priced, and then they will hit you with fees you were certainly not expecting. read more

This place is a terrible place to live in. Sure, it's newly built, but, it's poorly built. The walls are so thin, you can hear everything outside your apartment. The bathrooms are next to each other so you literally can hear the other resident pee while you're peeing. I was living next to a resident who loved to argue with her boyfriend so that was fun waking up to middle of the night multiple times. The windows are very thin as well so expect to turn up the heater in the winter. If you foolishly decide to live here, don't live in a unit sharing walls with the stairs. You will hear every foot step, even the dogs, and the entrance door SLAMMING with a huge vibration every time. There's two entrances on each building so you'll basically end up with a unit that will have that problem of hearing the door opening and closing that creates a sonic boom every time. If you have someone above you, expect to hear every foot step as if they were walking next to you. The dish washer and microwave are aesthetically nice but they are cheap quality. The dish washer barely washes your dishes and the microwave is the kind where it obnoxiously keeps beeping until you open it. I came to the point of just hand washing all my dishes. The washer and dryer can fit a small amount of clothes so expect to do laundry multiple times. There's also poor layout of lighting. The bedroom and living room did not have a light source but the kitchen area has three useless light bulbs condensed together. Ultimately, whoever designed his place has done a poor job and now you have to suffer through it. The garages are far away from most of the units which makes it pretty useless. They're also kinda expensive. The swimming pool is run by little kids. Don't expect to use it. The dog friendly environment leads to dog poop being everywhere because they do a pretty bad job making sure the lot is clean of poop. There are families who made the area feel unsafe. The cops continually were called for them. A few times a month I would see cop lights at night. Thank goodness I don't have kids otherwise I would freak out leaving them alone in this place. In fact, I even saw two men fight each other in the middle of the parking lot while I was trying to move out. Great way to end my experience with this company. The staff can be rude and only a certain few are nice. This apartment is run by a corporation so expect a lot of fees that is not expected or even heard of when your lease end. For the amount that you pay for, you can get more bang for your buck if you search a little more north for a town house with less of the problems this apartment has. Not sure why I lived here instead of renting somewhere else. read more

I've lived at Algonquin square for six months. I've never lived in a nicer apartment and think the staff has been really helpful and a pleasure to work with. The maintenance guys have hung up pictures for me for free and even delivered packages into my apartment since I travel out of town often. I've never been to any of the events they have but would like to some time in the future. Parking is great as I always park in front of my door or on the side. The gym has enough cardio equipment and free weights for my workouts and I enjoy grilling on the patio in the summer with the friendly neighbors. No complaints here. read more

The pros: The staff here are amazing. Quick responses to service requests and even took care of my cat and birds while I was on vacation. They have come out in the middle of the night to change the batteries in the smoke detector for the unoccupied unit above us when it was beeping and we couldn't sleep. They have fun events and although some reviews said there was a lot of police drama and crime, we haven't really seen that, though there was a time when an older lady was having some health problems and the ambulance came out a few times... Hardly makes me feel unsafe in the neighborhood. The rent hike after the first year was reasonable. The layout is great for us. The granite counters and stainless steel appliances are nice. I like the (practically) hardwood floors because they are much easier to clean than carpet. The apartment gets a lot of natural light, and there is great air circulation especially in beautiful days with the windows open! They do a great job of keeping the area really nice and the location is biking distance to pretty much everything we do. There is a trash pick up service that is available every night to pick up the garbage except Friday and Saturday. The gym is open 24 hours and there is an outdoor pool in the summer. The carpets are super soft and plushy. The blinds are very high quality. The bathrooms are spacious. The cons: The major concern is that the walls are really thin. If you're a light sleeper make sure you get a top floor apartment. I got a sleep machine and it blocks out most things, but nothing covers the fact that the upstairs staircase runs right through the middle of our apartment so the master bedroom bed placement options are against the freezing cold windows or under the thunder pit. When we first arrived here we had terrible upstairs neighbors that threw loud parties 4 days a week until 3-4 AM. When we asked them to stop they made fun of us and started stomping on purpose from that point on... Thankfully things improved when they moved out. But I'm pretty sure I didn't sleep for 3 months. The new neighbor is much nicer and probably a lot more common. We still hear every step, but she doesn't seem too keen on river dancing at 2AM. Also, fun fact, I've been woken up to the sound of the neighbor peeing. He was peeing so loud it woke me up in a different apartment. That should not be possible, but now that the place is built there isn't much that can be done. Our apartment is wavy. It makes all of the furniture wobbly (until we got adjustable feet) and even things on the walls can't touch at all 4 corners. Might just be our unit though. For me it means that any water that hits the back of the shower rolls down the side of the tub and out rather than going in it. Easy to clean, but strange. We somehow get roly poly bugs in the bedroom quite a bit in the summer. Not a huge deal, I just put them back outside. I wonder how they get in though. The smoke alarms are sensitive... We have set ours off a few times without even burning anything. It seems that even enough steam will do it. Not a big deal, the first time I was mortified and thought the neighbors would be rushing out to see what was happening, but everyone knows the drill here and we no longer freak out about the occasional lunchtime serenade of the alarms. (It's still not very often though... I'd say we hear them maybe twice a month and usually no more than 3-5 minutes.) Hope this helps! read more

My wife and I lived at Algonquin Square for just over two years. The apartment complex itself is very nice. The amenities are great and it's by far the nicest apartment I have ever lived in. Most likely the nicest in the area. Management was very nice and responsive to any issues. Especially the maintenance person, Vince. He was always quick to respond and fix any problem. The pool and fitness center are also great. Although the pool can become a bit crowded and the fitness center is at times packed in the winter. We had only a few minor issues. We lived on the bottom floor and could hear every step the upstairs neighbors took. And they were very early risers. You should also beware of rent hikes. Ours was jacked up $200/month after our original 12 month lease was up. I suspect this was partially a market correction as we were the first to live in our unit and they were trying to fill the complexes out initially. But at the end we were paying ~$1,300 per month for about 700 square feet. If you're willing to pay the price, though, you can't really beat this place. read more

Beware! This is a brutally honest review... Moved in 2015. Gorgeous and expensive upstairs end unit, private entrance, 2 bed/bath with den and fabulous patio, overlooking clubhouse and yards away from beautiful lake. Cut to 10 months later. Lease ends in 2 months, time to renew. Just like other reviews have written,"Your rent is going up $200.00 to keep up with the market. " Can't afford that; have to move (again). Pros and cons weighed. Stayed on property due to amazing staff. Moved into a 1 bed/bath as child left to start her life. Told dog pee "beyond repair" and we have to pay $600 to replace carpet. The cost of moving 3 buildings down and paying for carpet equaled the cost or rent raised for the year, and we could have stayed in apt one more year. Then, spouse and I can't breathe well, unlike other unit. Noticed water on floor, mold around vent from a/c unit in wall. 3 weeks of bronchitis, lost work. Cleaned up, gave us a humidifier, which we found next month doubled the electric bill...back and forth with insurance company for a claim...Noisy, inconsiderate neighbors, slamming doors, dog everywhere, shining their car lights in the only "window" in the boxy 833 sq ft space, being the sliding glass "porch" doors (tiny slab of concrete). Then the management fires the fantastic property manager, a fabulous leasing agent leaves, upsetting the wonderful staff, leaving tenants wondering WTF is happening. Like any other greedy corporation, they let go of great staff, and squeeze the market for money, taking advantage of the current housing situation. Can't wait to leave. read more

Beware...they will hit you for replacing the freezer or fridge door on your way out saying they are "scratched," which is laughable for us as we never placed anything (magnets, etc) onto our fridge that would have scratched. We also inspected everything thoroughly before we left. The management didn't care to discuss this with us and instead send the bill to collections. I have lived at the complex for over 2 years. I recently moved to a larger apartment. I must say everyone from sales staff to maintenance have been extremely helpful during the transfer process. I must mention Vince in Maintenance in particular. He responds to all requests in a very timely manner with a smile. He also had Nate helping him. We lived here for a year. The property is great but dealing with the office management was a horrible experience. We had a issue with a neighbors dog peeing on our balcony from above with the office never addressing it after multiple attempts. When we followed up a month later they threatened to remove our pet for our home with no explanation and still not resolving the original issue. We had one office representative give us a set of rules in writing, only to have another office manager Nicole then tell us the opposite. It is managed very poorly from the top down. You will be threatened with fines and watch for them to assess excessive charges at move out to hold your deposit. We left the unit in very good condition with slight wear and tear. They told us we had to pay for all new carpets through the units, because of "odor". Myself being a very neat person it was just their attempt to have you pay to keep the unit new for their new renters, which is the management/owners responsibility. A simple carpet clean would have worked without replacing all new carpets after just 1 year of gentle living there. RENTER BEWARE! read more

Since day 1 when I entered the front office, I was greeted with smiling faces and prompt helpful assistance. This did not change the whole 16 months of living there. Over the course of my lease things would pop up that would need adjusted or fixed, just like any other place, and the staff was on top of it usually that same day or first thing in the morning if I notified the night before. My favorite things about this neighborhood would be the curb appeal, amenities, fitness room (which I used every morning because it's open/available 24 hrs!!), the pool/patio/grills, and Location! I can not stress enough how nice it is to be able to have the option to walk to the mall or take a 2 second drive to Walmart if you need a quick gallon of milk or loaf of bread. I also enjoyed walking down the pathway to Village Vintner, which has some really good food and is a winery/brewery while having the luxury of walking back home and not driving. From my stay alone, I would highly recommend checking this place out! read more
