The plumber we dealt with for many years seems to be under new management because they wouldn't install something not purchased at their shop. They won't get any more of my business as well as all the plumbers who won't do a small job like mine. I found Adrian through Yelp and he showed up the next day at the promised time. (How long has it been since that happened to you?) He also honoured his quote even though it took more time than he estimated plus he gave us a senior's discount (YAY!!!). He takes VISA, a service that sometimes small businesses skip.The sink was left squeaky clean. The gentleman that came out was very friendly and explained everything fully about what he thought may be happening and explained the costs that were going to be involved. I also appreciated he showed up on time. He had to try a few different options to what the best way to tackle the problem would be, he chose the route that would not cause further damages (such as removing toilets and wrecking the caulking in place etc). He worked efficiently and kept us in communication if what was going on. He sent the rod in to unclog the pipes and pull out all the crap that gets stuck and then sent the rooter in after to tidy up any left overs and cut away roots that were sneaking in between the pipe joints (which happens over time) I felt informed and comfortable with the information he provided. I told him he could wear his shoes in, and he even had little plastic booties to cover them so he wouldn't bring in snow and mud. But it didn't really matter anyway, as before he left he even cleaned up and decontaminated the floor. It was a little more expensive that I would have hoped, but not more than what I was expecting and realistically, it's a nasty job and I'm willing to pay the cost so I don't need to do it. It was just under $600 all said and done.

I sent messages to a couple of plumbing outfits, but they didn't even respond. After a week of using buckets to capture the water leaking and dripping down into the basement, I gave up waiting for the first two outfits to respond and sent more messages to about 8 more plumbing outfits ... but again, most of them didn't even respond. I got 3 responses, 2 of which demanded ridiculously excessive deposits of $ 325 and $ 500 respectively. Max Plumbing and Heating was the only one who was quick to respond interactively through the Yelp messaging system, answered questions, was flexible, gave a ballpark estimate, and only demanded a reasonable deposit of $ 99. Max showed up when we asked him to, quickly found the reason for the leak, and replaced the worn-through pipe within a few hours, for a flat rate of $ 500, which was very reasonable for a 2-person crew for about 3 hours. He offered to clean out part of an attached pipe that was full of gunk but wasn't leaking for an extra $ 50, which was good and reasonable, so we agreed. Max was very knowledgeable and friendly, and even pointed out and explained some things about our kitchen drainage system that were problematic, without being asked, and didn't push or even suggest that we call him back to address those issues. Work was completed competently and efficiently. Quality of work was excellent. Value was very good. I would definitely recommend Max Plumbing and Heating!

After I made the inital call, they had a cancellation later that day, Wow was I happy on the fast service. Afterall my leaky faucet was now a continual stream of water and I had a bucket full of water in the sink. Ryan was friendly and respectful and explained what should be done, I noticed when it came to how much this was all going to cost, this was avoided for well after the end of the presentation. Home inspection, furnace inspection, water tank review all came into the conversation prior. All I want to do, is get my dripping stream to stop. Well after all of this I finally get the quote, to my surprise, it was almost 5000.00 to replace two sinks, two faucets, and two sets of pipes!! WHAT?????? Good thing I was leaning against the wall or I would have fallen over. Now, since my pipes were coroded we talked about just repairing the p trap and drain.. water was shut off, and my bill was a little over 700.00, including the service call fee. This is still too much money to pay. Now the measurements I was given, I cannot find a sink anywhere for the size I was given, they are regular oval bathroom sinks!!! Why are mine such an odd size?? Its off by an inch and some sinks its off by 1/2 inch,, I dont get it.. Anyway,, back to the drawing board for me,, I cant find a proper sink, according to their measurments. I need to pay for another service call fee, plus I cant afford the quote of over 2000.00, I was given to install two sinks, two faucets, that I have to supply, and plumbing for the remainging sink!! Now Im back to square one, and in search for a plumbing company who will not price gouge me, and give me the service that I need done.
