The plumber we dealt with for many years seems to be under new management because they wouldn't install something not purchased at their shop. They won't get any more of my business as well as all the plumbers who won't do a small job like mine. I found Adrian through Yelp and he showed up the next day at the promised time. (How long has it been since that happened to you?) He also honoured his quote even though it took more time than he estimated plus he gave us a senior's discount (YAY!!!). He takes VISA, a service that sometimes small businesses skip. The sink was left squeaky clean. While my husband used the wet vac to haul out gallons of sump water and pour them into the toilet, I navigated the AI reception and got a call back from a real person who said a plumber would be there in half an hour. Francisco arrived on schedule and used a pump to drain many gallons out of the sump well, and let us know it hadn't been a backup but a failure of unknown cause. He replaced the sump punp and added an alarm, which we should have done before but forgot to after the last service. He was pleasant and reassuring and cleaned up after himself meticulously. We got to work cleaning up the water encroachment. The bill was about what we expected for an emergency service with an install included and I think the alarm was added without charge. These things happen and no one likes them, but this went about as smoothly as any emergency home relair we've encountered this far in twenty five years at this location.

We received several calls to approve and finally a technician was sent. This worker was not a journeyman plumber. They are "drainage experts". He called with a quote of $2000 on top of the $200 service call. We asked for him to only clean 3 P-traps and remove the standing water in the dishwasher. We told him to leave after that. He did provide pictures via text. We managed to tell the tenants how to flush the drains. Everything is working now. The quote was inflated and unnecessary.

The drain pipe from our kitchen sink to the main drain recently sprung a leak, and we were unable…read moreto find the source of the leak and fix it ourselves. I sent messages to a couple of plumbing outfits, but they didn't even respond. After a week of using buckets to capture the water leaking and dripping down into the basement, I gave up waiting for the first two outfits to respond and sent more messages to about 8 more plumbing outfits ... but again, most of them didn't even respond. I got 3 responses, 2 of which demanded ridiculously excessive deposits of $ 325 and $ 500 respectively. Max Plumbing and Heating was the only one who was quick to respond interactively through the Yelp messaging system, answered questions, was flexible, gave a ballpark estimate, and only demanded a reasonable deposit of $ 99. Max showed up when we asked him to, quickly found the reason for the leak, and replaced the worn-through pipe within a few hours, for a flat rate of $ 500, which was very reasonable for a 2-person crew for about 3 hours. He offered to clean out part of an attached pipe that was full of gunk but wasn't leaking for an extra $ 50, which was good and reasonable, so we agreed. Max was very knowledgeable and friendly, and even pointed out and explained some things about our kitchen drainage system that were problematic, without being asked, and didn't push or even suggest that we call him back to address those issues. Work was completed competently and efficiently. Quality of work was excellent. Value was very good. I would definitely recommend Max Plumbing and Heating!
