Unfortunately, my experience with the doctor was different. I came in years ago while dealing with a health issue I had never experienced before. I was understandably very anxious and overwhelmed at the time. I recognize that I was under a great deal of stress, but much of that came from being scared and unfamiliar with what was happening to my health. I was looking for guidance, reassurance, and someone who would listen to what I was experiencing. I was given certain protocols to follow, and I did my best to follow them as instructed. Unfortunately, they did not work for me and actually caused additional issues. What was especially difficult was feeling that my concerns were dismissed because the same approach had worked for other patients. I understand that a treatment may be successful for many people, but every person and every body is different. When something wasn't working for me, I really needed to feel heard and taken seriously. I'm sure the doctor has helped many people and that others may have had very different experiences. I can only speak to my own. For me, the experience left me feeling unheard and invalidated during a time when I was already scared and vulnerable. The appointments were also quite expensive, which added to my disappointment. I hesitated for a long time before writing this because I don't like leaving negative reviews, especially after so many years. However, the experience had a lasting impact on me, and I still carry some of those feelings today. I hope that sharing my experience can serve as a reminder of how important it is for patients to feel heard, especially when they are struggling or when a treatment is not working as expected. I genuinely wish the doctor and the practice well, and I remain very grateful to the staff for the kindness they always showed me.

Prior to moving back I was aware that Balboa hospital's pediatric endocrinologist was booked so I was hoping that my insurance would approve a civilian doctor to handle my daughters needs. We were referred out to Dr. Franklin and thus far have had our second appointment. While I felt a little stressed (personally) on my first visit - the doctor did her best to understand my toddlers history while also going over confusing and limited information from the military treatment facilities paperwork. I felt a yelp was warranted now that I have visited the office twice. Dr. Franklin does things a little different than the MTF's as far as labs and quite honestly- I like her system better. My toddler used to get labs done the same day as her appointment. I used to wait months for results to be given to me in person. Dr. Franklin on the other hand like things done 2-weeks before your next appointment. That there is more realistic and knowing that the most current results vs something many months ago. Dr. Franklin, in my humble opinion, is very thorough and to the point, she does no beat around the bush, she talks in a manner that you understand and don't leave her office still questioning results or what is needed on your end. Dr. Franklin and her staff have always been very welcoming making my often shy toddler ease up and warm up. Could have asked for a better doctor on the west coast for my daughter.

No physician, make or female, should make a joke at the patients expense- ESPECIALLY A PEDIATRIC DOCTOR. my daughter was in tears, scared, and thought she has going to die all because Dr Franklin cracked off a very inappropriate statement that she thought was funny I fired her on the spot. If she had been a fantastic clinician perhaps I would have forgiven her for her lapse of good taste but we had nothing to lose and everything to gain by seeing another doctor.

This organization offers annual, nation-wide, diabetes-education events for the general community…read moreand the medical profession, which you can access on their website: http://tcoyd.org/ In my review, I will focus on the Hawai'i conference-- In Honolulu, this organization holds an annual, open-to-the-general-public, one-day conference, at the Hawai'i Convention Center, which is well worth the $15 online advance registration fee or the $20 walk-in fee on the day of the conference (usually late April). If you're diabetic, or help take care of someone who is, such as a family member, it's such a cheap cost, for a day of up-to-date panels and talks about different aspects of diabetes care and ongoing research, one-on-one consultation with medical experts specializing in the disease (dentists, podiatrists, endocrinologists, nurses, and so on), lots of free swag (recipes, gadgets/tools, info handouts, etc.) from medical companies and offices and community health organizations, cooking demos (when I went, it was by the wonderful, Pacific-Rim-cuisine genius Chef Mavro, who also prepared the 3-course lunch included in your ticket) and healthy snacks, and even a concert by Hawai'i pidgin comedian Frank DeLima (who's a diabetic himself). Every year, the sessions and their speakers are different, with current information on exciting medical studies, new technology/pharmaceuticals, helpful care practices, and the implications for diabetes, explained in clear, easy to understand ways. It's positive, fun, and community-oriented. There's even a special, all-day track for medical specialists such as doctors, dentists, and nurses, which focuses on treatment and patient care/education. My healthcare provider attended this conference, and went to entire different events than I did. The information is not just medical but also social and emotional (how to get your loved ones, who have diabetes, to follow new diet and nutrition guidelines, as well as test their blood sugar regularly; how to deal with diabetes-related depression; etc.). You will feel supported and more knowledgeable, but the process is not boring or lecture-y. You get so much more than is worth the relatively small registration fee you pay. Great community health education!

I was having gastritis that was preventing me from holding down food with acid projection and burning stomach. 4 months to see a gastroenterologist and he ran tests and put me on an acid blocker. Wanted me to wait another 6 weeks in discomfort before doing an endoscopy to see if acid blockers worked. I decided to ditch that plan and come right to Dr. Moira as I wasn't holding down food and she ran an H Pylori test while I was in the office and of course she was spot on.... that was the culprit. She is wicked intuitive and smart. She also knows which tests to run. My H Pylori test done with the gastro dr. via stool was negative, and she knew that breath was much more accurate. She actually felt my stomach whereas the gastro dr. had no interest. I feel very let down by Western Medicine. I hope your health journey leads you to her healing hands.

She put me at ease right away in our first in-person conversation and helped me think through what my goals were (getting 'real'--eating real food, avoiding synthetic skin/body care products, etc.; finding and incorporating spiritual practice; and shedding some extra lbs I'd been carrying around). It was clear from the beginning that she was interested in learning about me and what I wanted to do so that she could design a very individualized protocol and arsenal of resources for me. Her approach was holistic and completely free of judgement. Because she helped me establish clear goals and then tailored a plan to me so expertly, I was able to follow it and make adjustments as needed. AND, Carly has been extremely responsive to and helpful with any questions or inquiries I've sent her way in the last year and a half. Earlier this year, I had a Reiki session with Carly (my first with her, my second ever). The 'hands-on' portion of the session was really comforting and grounding. The post session debrief was invaluable. Carly's intuition and guidance were right on the money and really helped me to start working through some blocked energy and negative thought patterns. I can't say enough good things about Carly. She's a consummate professional, she knows her stuff and she truly cares about her clients. Thank you, Carly!

From the prep work she did ahead of time to the meeting to after the meeting, the level of professionalism and thought put into all communication has been amazing. I received great follow-up materials, comprehensive lists of foods, supplements, links to articles and podcasts, and a bunch of other materials I know I can trust. She also took the time to check in after our meeting to see how things were going once I implemented some of her suggestions. I'm located in Austin and the ease of working with her over the phone has been great! Thanks Carly!
