This letter to Dr, Alexander will explain everything: October 11, 2023 Sanford Scott 7170 128th St. Seminole, FL 33776 Dr. Alexander: In my 83 years, I have never experienced the medical disaster that was my contact with Mr. Dattilo (I hesitate to call him Doctor, in that Hippocrates would roll over in his grave knowing someone of his character had that title) yesterday But I will get to him momentarily. I have had 6 appointments with three of your physicians recently, Dr. Perler for lower leg pain, Dr. Nalley for my painful arthritic neck, the result of a C1 fracture some years ago, and the aforementioned Dattilo. Every appointment resulted in a ridiculously long wait in the exam room. The epitome of that was my third appointment with Dr. Perler last week. On my initial appointment with him, we went through the usual interview process and X-rays were taken of my lower left leg. He gave me a script for a nerve evaluation which I accomplished and then had my second appointment with him. On that appointment we discussed the possibility of trying Botox as a less evasive try than surgery. I was sent home with some ineffective CBD cream and on the appointment last week we were to discuss the plan of action. After a long delay in getting what turned out to be a non-appointment - I literally waited in a small, windowless exam room for an hour and 35 minutes, breaking my previous wait record of an hour and 15 minutes at your facility. The assistant always says the same thing, to wit: "The doctor will be right with you." Uh huh, it has yet to happen. At one point, a podiatrist serving a fellowship under Perler came in to inform me that he was running late. Amazingly, at that hour and 35-minute point, I noticed an email had arrived on my phone indicating that there was a post to my patient portal record. I opened it and was more than amazed to discover that it was a report of my non-visit. I had so many questions to ask and none were addressed and I received no treatment such as the Botox he had previously mentioned. When that happened, I walked out of the exam room, only to find Perler standing at the end of the hallway. I mentioned the patient portal entry and his reply was, "Thank you for the book (I had given him a book on my previous visit), you can go and I'll see you in three months? Huh? I left in disbelief and disgust. Now to Dattilo. The plan was for me to have a hip replacement surgery at Pasadena Hospital on October 18th. I have been in severe pain which makes it difficult to sleep and walk, but unfortunately on my first visit, I received a cortisone injection which was ineffective, but hence had to now wait for 60 days before surgery could be performed. I was given a script for blood work and told my providers would be contacted for the necessary other things such as EKG results, etc. As aside, I have an EKG every 4 months with my personal friend, Dr. John Norris, since undergoing an ablation with him some years ago. The results are always good. Suddenly, I am contacted asking about the EKG and chest X-ray. I sent Britany Doyle a copy of the EKG that I recently had at Morton Plant while undergoing a 7-hour TAVR evaluation, and sent a recent CTA scan which is certainly more extensive than an X-ray in the chest area asking if that would substitute. I asked her to ask Dattilo. I never heard back. Being someone who just doesn't sit around and wait for things to happen, I contacted the Pre-op nurse at Pasadena with whom I had an appointment on October 12th. She said all of those should be fine to satisfy their needs and if something was still needed it could be done at the time of the up-coming evaluation. So, I was set. I was then told by one of your people that they could not contact Dr. Norris' office, which I found to be ridiculous in that if there was ever a practice at which you immediately always connect to a human when you call, it is that practice. I also had 10 vials of blood extracted at Quest Diagnostics and a urinalysis on October 4th so I was assuredly good to go. Yesterday, I received the most distressing possible call. I am living in pain day and night eagerly awaiting my surgery. In that I have to be off of my supplements, my much-needed Tumeric for my neck pain had to be ceased so between the neck, lower leg and hip pain, to say that I am miserable would be the understatement of the century. But I digress. The phone rang, I picked it up and it was Dattilo with the nastiest possible voice saying, "I am tired of you giving my assistants a hard time, you are finished, I am cancelling your surgery. You have refused to get an EKG and a chest X-ray." I tried to explain that I have an EKG, etc., but he was not about to listen. I gave no one a hard time. You can certainly confirm that by checking my correspondence through the patient portal and email. read more

I have had a total wrist replacement 3 weeks ago and I'm still healing but the support I receive from Alexander Orthopedic Associates is amazing. Dr. Penello is incredible. He is the ONLY orthopedic surgeon to recommend and do the procedure with finesse! Sure, it is a painful procedure but they made sure my discomfort was minimized and never questioned the intense pain i experienced. The physical therapists are fantastic in helping me regain the mobility I need to perform daily tasks. I didn't mention, I am 77 years old and I want to continue being active so I needed to have this procedure rather than the fusing option which presented mobility dysfunction, not acceptable. When I tell people about my surgery, they respond that they never heard of this. That's how advanced Dr. Penello is in his field!!! Appointments are easily made and I had one lengthy wait because it was a last minute call and they graciously worked me into a very busy schedule. But it was worth the wait. The concern was met, addressed and resolved. I would highly recommend this group to anyone needing orthopedic care. Their surgical center is located in the same building in Palm Harbor and is manned by extremely kind and professional staff. If you're not pleased with the diagnosis from your current surgeon, get a second opinion here. I did and I'd do it again! read more

Had a total Ankle replacement done by Dr. Adam Perler on, 10/15/21, I am 3 months out know and there is no pain. my ankle is functioning like my left normal ankle, its wonderful. Dr. Perler is a very personable Dr., he is down to earth, always concerned in making sure things are right. In my opinion, there is no better foot and ankle specialist. If your looking to have any foot or ankle procedures in the future Dr. Adam Perler of Alexander Orthopedic Associates is your Dr.. I would recommend Dr. Perler to everyone. read more

I don't know where to start, but I will start with I AM IN SEVERE KNEE PAIN. I went to this doctors office to originally get a metal screw removed from my knee and a metal rod from my femur. I was recommended to get surgery to have them both removed. Once surgery was done I woke up and was told that the doctor was unable to remove the rod from my femur and the screw from my knee because the necessary tools required where not in the surgery room. I SPENT 3-4 months recovering from that surgery to then have the same doctor schedule a 2nd surgery except this time he did it in a hospital where he assured me he would have all the tools necessary. After waking up from my second surgery the doctor had already left and I had no idea how the surgery went untill he called me later that night around 9pm to tell me that he was unable to remove the metal screw and unable to remove the rod from my femur because it was attached to the screw (something a X-ray would be able to clearly show prior to surgery). So instead he just shaved down the screw on my knee. It took another 3-4 months to recover. So In total 8 months of recovery and I still have the metal screw in my knee and the rod in my femur. I GAVE UP on going to this office after giving them many chances to help me, but now it's been about a year and even though I regularly have knee pain I am to disheartened to try going back to them. This week I have been in some of the worst pain so I tried calling the nurse Rose to explain everything I have been thru so I could hopefully get some type of pain medication but she said she was unable to do anything since more than 3 months have passed and said I would need another X-ray and to see the same doctor again. So once again I gave up and decided to deal with the pain. But now I have called the nurse line 3 time in two days and explained all of this and they assured me I would get a phone call from the doctor on call but I have not received a phone call. There are a lot of other emotional traumas this has caused me and other complaints about the way this office is ran but I decided to make this review based solely on the facts of my surgery, post surgery, recovery, and inability to receive the proper help for my pain. I did not want to give a bad review but I am still in pain and still have not received a phone call so this review felt necessary. Not personal at all. read more

**13 Months post-surgery Dr. Odmark is amazing! I completely tore/ruptured my Achilles tendon in October 2019. I have not had any setbacks and my recovery. I cannot thank Dr. Odmark enough for the comfort and professionalism provided during this very trying time for me. He was great about laying everything out in a way anyone could understand. I have been a patient for years.... I've had ACDF spine surgery. a knee meniscus surgery and now dealing with a broken fibula... I have always received TOP NOTCH care, above and beyond treatment. Everyone from front desk to Imaging to the Dr's offer a warm and assuring office environment and experience. But that's just me... My son was having issues which we thought was a torn hamstring... The St Pete office was able to give him an appt faster than anyone else. He went and the Dr had him do movement and strength test. Due to the Dr's knowledge, she advised he needed an MRI STAT. They were booked up so my sons GF called and got an MRI at TGH Imaging center in Tampa (He lives in Tampa)... The next morning the Dr called at 9:15 am snd told my son he needed Emergency surgery for not waste time.... My son ended up having a rare form of Cauda Equina by herniation that could have paralyzed my son for life... YOU ALL SAVED MY SONS LIFE due to your knowledge, expertise and commitment to care. My husband has been getting treatment from Alexander orthopedic associates after suffering a knee injury at work. We currently have been going to the largo office off of 66th street. Our experience here has added to the stress of his injury. If you are going through a workman's comp injury I highly suggest picking your second choice. Stay clear from this office at all costs. My husband has been treated with the utmost disregard. From getting appointments mixed up, to not giving adequate paperwork back, and the front office personal being completely rude and in-compassionate. I've read a common denominator here through other reviews that the front desk doesn't like to get back to calls or emails about getting proper documents sent over to other providers and it's 100 percent accurate. My husband received Instructions from the nurse at his post-op to start his physical therapy asap. When we arrived at the PT facility they said that they couldn't start therapy due to a lack of incomplete paperwork and instructions from the nurse. (The PT script) they had been calling all week to try to get in touch with them just to verify information. I also had tried calling with no luck. After rescheduling for a few days still no paperwork. We had to physically go into the Alexander's office and ask what was goin on with the paperwork. My husband and I were both very upset and in dismay and worry due to the fact his PT is being delayed over a simple paper being faxed. Instead of being treated with compassion and understanding the front desk personnel treated us with oppression and attack. She said it's not up to her to speak with the PT office that it's up to our adjuster and that we're on our own. The medical field is suppose to be there to help people. Instead this place has made us feel helpless. After pulling teeth the girl at the front says here, maybe this is what you need. Take it yourself up to the PT facility. She almost refused to speak to me because of how upset I was. Instead of trying to understand and help she lashed out at me. That's not how you treat people. This doctor's office and it's staff is probably one of the best around for care and follow ups. Had to have surgery done and chose this location for Dr. Panello. His staff from the receptionist, to hospital staff were amazing. His staff at Pasadena Hospital were the best from the time you check in and the multiple wellness called after surgery. Run don't walk to another doctor. Had bunionectomy surgery done and it is worse now than before the surgery. On my last visit after 6 wks recovery, Dr Perler stated he needed to go back to surgery and tweak it. Meaning total redo the surgery, 4-6 more weeks of recovery. read more

I went for wrist pain, first time visiting, I have insurance thank god because they would have charged $750 otherwise to do literally nothing to help me. Took an X-ray even though I knew nothing was broken. Then when I marked on the paperwork that it was bothering me at work, they told me that they had to report it to insurance as a work injury so in order to get the MRI I needed I would have to pay out of pocket. I called back 3 times trying to clarify that it just bothered me at work, not that it happened there, and they did nothing. Now it's months later and I have the same pain and just an online bill to pay for them that they sent in the mail with less than a weeks notice to pay and that charged my card twice when I paid online because it said card declined even though it actually went through. They deserve -5 stars, not only did 0 to help, but wasted my time and money. Go anywhere else. read more

My experience was great! I had a knee replacement 6 years ago with another provider and there is no comparison! At one month post op I am farther along in rehab than I was at 3 months with the other knee. The office is efficient, with caring responsive, knowledgeable and professional staff. Dr. Alexander is not only a skilled clinician, but a caring physician. I am so glad that I had him do my 2nd replacement. Additionally, Peter Lally, the physical therapist that provided therapy at home was exceptional! I think that with Dr A's skill and Peter's follow-up therapy I have been blessed and would recommend them to anyone considering a knee replacement. read more

Dr. Thomas Odmark is an exceptional doctor and I recommend him most highly for foot issues. He is smart, sharp, experienced, skillful, communicative and totally focused on the best patient outcome, NOT jumping in to perform surgery unless it is absolutely necessary. He and the staff working with him care deeply about his patients. In my case, a different surgeon performed foot reconstruction that did not heal/recover as expected. Rather than suggest another surgery, which could make things worse as easily as improve them, Dr. Odmark prescribed a custom brace that has made a world of difference in my ability to walk and function almost pain-free. It's accelerated my healing, continuously reducing the swelling I'd been experiencing. After months of despair when I thought I'd never walk well again, thanks to Dr. Odmark I'm well on my way to walking normally. For me, it's close to a miracle! I called to set an appt'. for my significant other and was told a referral had to be received and in hand before they would schedule. I called a day after referral was faxed by the PCP, mentioned the referral had been faxed and the appointment was set. Got a call 30 minutes before the app't. saying they had never received the referral and had to cancel. I explained the patient was already on the way, please give me a chance to call the PCP and have it resent. They turned him away as soon as he arrived without even bothering to make a call or check which is just not respectful of the patient's time. After confirming with the PCP the referral had been refaxed, I called them to confirm receipt so he wouldn't waste his time again at the next app.t'. The staffmember was dismissive and not at all helpful. Still said the referral wasn't received, altho the PCP said it was faxed at least 3 times. Wasn't willing to make any effort to resolve the impasse. The office manager left a voice mail with a generic message but didn't even leave an extension to call her back at.
