There are so many dentists- with poor government oversight unlike physicians- the competition is ferocious. Finding a skilled and honest dentist isn't easy. Most of the fancy dental offices, and many are skilled, yet their primary objective is to bill you for extras you don't need: X-rays, etc. and will do unnecessary work at your expense causing both pain and wallet! This little office has heart, honesty and all the skills you needed without suggesting procedures you don't. I feel lucky to have found them. But, she always happily puts up with all of my many questions and requests. When I'm getting carried away, she kindly brings me back to reality in a very professional manner. My work involves a lot of client interface so I chose the clear braces and usually have the clear bands. Because the clear bands stain more easily, I go in often to change my bands and she never asks twice about it. She always squeezes me in if necessary and I feel well taken care of by her. Also, her new office in Burlingame/Millbrae, is extremely clean, beautiful and calming. I would highly recommend her for Orthodontic treatment! Update: Still getting lots of compliments on my teeth! Huge thanks to Dr. Lee and her super professional staff for helping me get through braces (as an adult!). It's been several years since she did the removal and her office still answers questions when they arise. She is fair and reasonable in her answers which I really appreciate. I set up a consultation with Dr. Tom and right away I was struck by his sincerity and honesty. He assured me that my dentist was exaggerating and that my teeth would be totally fine without getting treatment. I ended up crying in his office, I was so upset. Dr. Tom took the time to explain all my options and the timeline of my treatment. I ended up going "old school" with wired braces and rubber bands. As a result, my teeth are perfect and I have never been more confident about my teeth. His office staff went above and beyond to accommodate my needs as a busy teacher. Now, things are different. Theres one communication over the email with the treatment plan estimate and that's it!! I must've called and emailed a handful of times trying to talk to the staff. My first visit was just for a routine cleaning, and the scheduling + new patient forms were all quite easy to do on their website. I also received a few reminder texts in the days leading up to the appointment. From the get-go, it was evident Dr. V and Paola had taken the time to properly review my insurance plan, as they made recommendations for x-rays and upcoming visits based on my plan benefits and timing. Paola also pointed out fluoride was not covered by my insurance before asking me whether I wanted it or not for my cleaning - this attention to detail and transparency is above and beyond what I've experienced at other dentists. As for the cleaning itself, Dr. V handled it thoroughly and with a gentle touch, while consistently checking throughout to make sure I was comfortable. Dr. Lee made it happen, and then some. After a little over a year with Invisalign, the difference is incredible. My teeth and smile is straighter, but the bonus I didn't expect was how much my bite improved too. I used to constantly bite my lip and tongue, and that's just... gone now. Every visit, Dr. Lee took the time to walk me through my progress in a way that actually made sense. You never feel like just another patient moving through a conveyor belt, you feel informed and cared for. The staff is wonderfully friendly and seriously organized. As someone with a packed work schedule, I had to reschedule more than once and they were always understanding and quick to sort something out. Zero stress. Both of our children have received excellent care with absolutely no complaints. Frankly, Ess K.'s review says more about the reviewer than the office. The transcripts she so crudely included make it clear that Cathy explained the insurance payout process thoroughly and politely. To twist that into something negative or claim Cathy was demeaning is utterly inconsistent with her reputation and how she treats people. And a quick glance at Ess K.'s other reviews (mostly one or two stars for nearly everyone) tells you all you need to know. I'd take her comments about Cathy and Burlingame Ortho with a very large grain of salt.
