So I have history of having a herniated disc in my lower back and it just started hurting again a few days ago. it was really unbearable pain so I decided to call a doctor. I've moved since the last time I was treated for this, so I thought i'd try a new place nearby. I came across Adult & Pediatric Orthopedics so I decided to give them a call. The lady who answered was nice and I told her what my issues were, but it was the WEIRDEST thing because she pretty much was telling me that they did not want to take me in as a patient! She said things like, "well you know our doctors can't do anything for you, right?" I said, "what?" she replied, "well we don't have medicine for you here or anything". um ok.... "well can someone look at it? last time my doctor recommended physical therapy for me" lady's response: "um......" silence. me: "ok...?" again she says, "well our doctors can't do anything for you". I am SO CONFUSED as to where this conversation was going! seriously, i am not being sarcastic, i thought this place was supposed to check on people's orthopedic pains? I honestly feel like I am missing something here, because it all seems way too odd! Otherwise, if I am not missing anything here, all i can say is, doctors of the Adult & Pediatric Orthopedics beware: your receptionist is turning down potential patients!!

My…read moreorthopedic doctor Garry Shapiro diagnosed arthritis of the neck and knees and recommended that I start physical therapy as soon as possible. I began to look for a suitable place opened during the evening hours and working with my insurance plan. But most importantly, I was looking for a doctor who specializes in neck pain. I was very lucky to find Physical Therapist Jennifer Laube on Yelp, where she was given high reviews by former patients. Doctor Jennifer Laube PT works in Emery Physical Therapy, and she is the most professional, knowledgeable and upbeat person. First, she gave me a complete evaluation, accessing how well I can move my neck and knees, and asked about symptoms such as pain, numbness and stiffness. She identified weakness in my hips, glutes, hamstrings and shoulders and began to teach me how to do exercises that will help me stretch, strengthen and straighten up my joints and muscles. To relieve pain and stiffness, Dr. Laube gives me a deep tissue massage and ultrasound. She gave me a lot of professional advices on how to keep correct posture, sit at the computer, how to walk and how to sleep. She explained to me what my postures were poor and explained their adverse effects on my health. I continue coming for a treatment, but I am happy to admit that my joint health has improved, less pain and stiffness in my neck and knees. I have plans to get rid of pain forever.

I was a week from scheduling cervical (neck) surgery because I…read morehad been in severe pain and no other specialists had helped to alleviate it. Mind you, I was in such pain that I could barely dress myself or walk to another room. I had spent almost 2 months basically sitting in a recliner to get some relief. My husband had to even drive me to each of the appointments. I tried everything short of the surgery including steroid packs, prescription pain medication, physical therapy, and a cortisone injection with no relief. After receiving an X-ray, 2 MRI's for the neck and shoulder (to rule out shoulder problems), I received a diagnosis of cervical stenosis (a narrowing of the spinal column with herniated discs). When the previous methods did not work, I met with a spinal surgeon and was about to schedule surgery. My kind sister-in-law recommended Dr. Molloy. I was reluctant because how could a chiropractor help when my diagnosis was a narrow spine? But I kept an open mind and was willing to try anything. I was able to get in immediately to see Dr. Molloy. He was friendly, kind, and answered all questions readily. He took his own X-rays and found that in addition to the herniated discs that I also had a rotated disc in my upper back (something that was never looked at previously). I began to see Dr. Molloy 4-5 days a week for approximately two months. At these visits, he gave adjustments (I'm very happy to report that my rotated disc is back in place!), used a muscle stimulator on my upper back (due to the tense muscles), and used ultrasound to reduce the nerve inflammation. This is the third month since I began seeing him and I am happy to report that I am significantly better. I no longer take any prescription pain medication. I only see him once per week for ultrasound and now have gotten back to all daily activities! I very highly recommend Dr. Molloy. He is really one of the best doctors out there!
