We almost always use Alex Shuttle when we fly as a family or when I fly out for a super early morning flight for work. He is always on time (usually a few minutes early), the van is always clean, and he's always friendly. I appreciate the follow-up call or text that he gives the night before our scheduled shuttle, and whenever I go to schedule the ride, he gets back to me very quickly. Headed to the new PDX parking garage taxi rank INSIDE garage and my husband gets flagged down in the roadway outside by this shuttle service. They are NOT an official Portland taxi and did not make this clear. No taxi rate clock inside should have been a clue I guess but my husband was tired and insisted we get in. Charged $60 to our home flat rate when our taxi to PDX was more like $45. So buyer beware, walk all the way inside the parking garage to the new proper taxi rank and don't get scammed by a private shuttle service. Even an Uber/Lyft would have been more reasonable. Also cab wasn't that clean and had an uncomfortable middle row/middle passenger seat. AVIOD if possible. read more

Overall, it was a very unpleasant ride with Alex PDX shuttle, which was the last leg of our international trip (2 adults and 2 kids). First of all, the driver asked for the way we usually use to get home and after indicating the way it seemed to have bothered him. He provided unnecessary negative comments about the route we use. Upon arrival he mentioned there was a 4 dollar fee if the payment was done by card, which was not mentioned on the quote I received and was not mentioned on their website either. Be aware of hidden fees from this company. Lastly, and the most uncomfortable situation happened when the driver ran my card and asked me to tip 20%. He said that his company does not have the option to tip less than 20% and used a racial comment about American families always tipping more when I said he could not force me to tip 20% on top of the quote and the card processing fee. He also said that I should tip more because he waited 3 hours at the airport although I provided them with the delay information of my flight 3 hours in advance. I didn't understand why I was held responsible for a flight delay that was out of our control. Why do they ask for the flight number in their reservation form then? This is not the first time I use an airport shuttle service and I have never experienced such an unprofessional and rude attitude from a driver. There are similar reviews about this type of behavior from drivers of this company. I used this service for a suburbia to PDX transport and I was delighted when I called the night before, spoke to a real person and confirmed the transport. He did make a snide remark saying, "So do you want me to sleep at your house?" which at the time I thought was simply a groan about how early it was. Frankly if he would have said, "at that hour of the morning, I'd say no more than 30 minutes to get there" , we both could have slept a little more. He arrived promptly and had a light on the car so that was nice. But, within 5 minutes of leaving my house, I wish I would have never called him. First, he was on the phone right way speaking a foreign language. Then once he was done, he took it out on me. He probably spent a full 5 minutes berating me for the early pickup and why didn't I call sooner. He boasted that he had never turned away business. Well, I wish he had! When we arrived at PDX, I asked how much it was, but I knew from his published website rates it was $45. He proceeded to quote me $50 instead! I only had $45 cash, so, I had to use a card. Now again, I knew from the signs in his car that it was a $4 surcharge (highway robbery as the first reviewer mentioned), so I was ready for that. Well, guess what, and really what sent me to Yelp to write this review -- I was actually charged $5 ! At that hour of the morning and after the chastising, I kept my lips tightly sealed and hurried away. I will never be using Alex Shuttles PDX again, and recommend that you think twice before stepping into an unregulated flat-fare shared shuttle from the Portland Airport. The driver wanted to charge me a $4 credit card usage fee, an amount any customer would question. The driver's response was a rude - "its my company's policy. Go talk to them". I professed surprise, and added that I was unhappy that he was charging me this fee on top of picking up and dropping off another customer, even after I had asked him if I was going to be his only passenger. What happened next completely took me off guard. The driver became inexplicably angry, locked me inside the cab and wouldn't let me out. After insisting he let me out, I threatened to call the police, which didn't make any difference. He proceeded to get even more worked up, asked where I was from and made racially disparaging remarks about my ethnicity. This guy obviously has anger management issues, and succeeded in making me feel extremely vulnerable and unsafe. At no point had I said I was not going to pay him his fare! Absolutely quality service and I am so proud to have been with Alex Shuttle for six years. Alex Shuttle is hands down the best transportation service I have ever experienced. I will never opt into another transportation business because of how incredible the time management was, the drivers were beyond respectful, their driving skills were incredible and they made sure that I was at ease. Their pricing is also very much reasonable. If you want to make your travels or adventures less stressful, Alex Shuttle is most definitely the best service you will receive. We have used Alex several times for pick up at PDX and early 5:00 am pick up at our home on a Bull Mountain. He has always been courteous, prompt and reliable. Just read his one star review and cannot believe that it is the same driver. He has always been professional with us and we feel fortunate to call him our PDX driver. If you are looking for a driver from the Tigard/Sherwood/Lake Oswego area to PDX call him and schedule his service. He likes you to text him the info, and that way you both have a record of your need. He is good to respond with a follow up call when he is not driving ( always good when your driver doesn't text while driving...lol).
