There did not seem to be any oversight by Rich Home Exteriors to keep track of the work and quality of work being done. Many of the windows that were being wrapped were improperly done and had to be redone, as well as an exterior door and some trim along the garage. We had asked them to remove some existing solid wood soffits along the garage eaves and install ventilation. Initially they simply covered over the existing wood, which did not allow for ventilation. It took a few attempts to get it properly ventilated. The threshold on our new front door was very unstable and flexed every time it was stepped on. We had to mention these issues a number of times before they were remedied. We had a number of other minor issues as well. We chose Rich Home Exteriors because of the positive reviews we had read online. However, our experience was very different from what we had read. We decided to put up an honest review of what our experience was like. It was a very stressful situation for us. We had to continually monitor the work that was being done ourselves.

Thought I had a rotting sliding door sill and needed it replaced. One contractor told me the…read moreentire thing had to be replaced at a cost of $2,000. However, he was not licensed and insured so I wouldn't use him. Called Rich's, who is licensed and insured, and they came by to look at it. There assessment was that the door was fine (and it was), and the rotted wood was just a kick plate. All flashing and seal around the door was fine. Just a couple of dollars to replace the kick plate and all is fine. Plan on using them for some additional repairs. I would highly recommend them.

HORRIBLE!!!!! Showed up late for estimate meeting. Ok, I can live with that. I called 2 weeks…read morelater to check in on how long it would take for my estimate. I requested a call back to let me know he was doing it and when I could expect it. NO COMMUNICATION! I CALLED EACH WEEK TO SEE THE STATUS OF THE ESTIMATE AND NEVER HEARD A WORD BACK!!!!! AWFUL!!!! today I was told that I was not their only customer and how could Matt give me an estimate is he was on vacation. I replied, "He's been on vacation for a month?!" Tomorrow will be one month since he came to my house. AWFUL!!!! Another contractor warned me this might happen. "IF THEY DON'T WANT TO DO IT, THEY WON'T GIVE YOU THE TIME OF DAY." The women I spoke to at their office sounded flabbergasted when I shared that information with them. One of them looked on his desk on two separate occasions and found nothing! Make a new appointment and start over! Ignoring me is not going to make either of us happy. If you don't want to do it, just tell me, that is so much easier to handle. Years prior, as a tenant, I asked the workers of RICH ALUMINUM and SIDING if I should remove the pictures from my walls while they were replacing siding and windows. They told me it would not be necessary, I came home to smashed glass and ceramic art and debris in multiple locations of my apartment, No apologies.PATHETIC! DO UNTO OTHERS AND DON'T GIVE THEM YOUR BUSINESS!!!!

AJ’S Construction

In November 2022, I paid Arron Aldrich of AJ's Construction in Queensbury in full (plus tip) for a…read morebathroom remodel and for a screened-in, painted porch. Arron would start work, then disappear for months between contact, always with a dramatic excuse that often completely contradicted his prior excuses. He presents with an "aw, shucks, I'm not like all those other horrible contractors" nice guy routine, always "dismayed" about someone else's ineptitude that he uses to excuse his poor work. During this time, I noticed some complaints about him on social media. When I asked him about it, he would roll his eyes and tell me stories about how "cr@zy" or unreasonable those people were. My mistake was in believing him. After cobbing together some of the work between November 2022 and February 2023, Arron disappeared, leaving work unfinished. Outreach attempts continue to go ignored. When the shower that he "fixed" started leaking and flooding my basement, the plumber I hired to come over stated that Arron's work was "a complete disaster" that will cost thousands to repair. The shower was leaking because Arron did not tape the fixtures before he put them in, which is Plumbing 101; even I know to do that. Arron posted the ultimate irony on Next Door, a post chastising other contractors for doing *exactly* what he does. If the responses from people regarding this situation are any indication, this is a pattern of behavior with him. I made a mistake and trusted the wrong person. I acted in good faith with someone who chose to take advantage of my trusting nature and generosity. Law enforcement is aware and working on this, and I have learned a valuable, unfortunate lesson. This is a small, tight knit community and I don't want anyone else to fall victim to the same issue.
