After seeing Alem Spa on TikTok and YouTube, I decided to try it for myself. I was interested in the Gold Experience but wanted to try the Moroccan Bath/Hammam first before making that investment. I booked online and paid the $25 deposit. Finding the spa is a little tricky! The city needs to trim the hedges around the plaza because you can easily miss the entrance. Once there, the spa has private/reserved parking. It's small and intimate, and I was greeted by Alem, the owner. The lobby was clean, organized, and smelled wonderfully of lemongrass and mint. The locker room has secure lockers, a couch, and a styling area with blow dryers and toiletries. The provided robe was a little snug for all my curves , but I had the place to myself, so no worries. Now, if you're shy, have a talk with yourself before booking. You're instructed to remove ALL clothing and jewelry. Alem was professional, kind, and explained every step, which made being completely exposed much less awkward. The steam room is MASSIVE, and that steam is THICK and loud! It took me about 90 seconds to adjust and actually see. I'm glad I'm not claustrophobic! You lie on a comfortable mat over the stone bed for about 10 minutes to let the steam soften your skin. There's even a handlebar to help you get yourself back up (which I appreciated)! Then came THE MITTEN. The first few passes of the exfoliating scrub definitely got my attention, but once I adjusted, it wasn't painful. What surprised me was how extensive the treatment actually is. There are three separate skin treatments: the initial mitten exfoliation, followed by a clay mask and oils that sit on your skin while you relax in the steam, and finally a coffee scrub with oils. Alem rinses you between treatments, and afterward you're told to shower completely (with no rush). Then comes the best part: REST. I went into the tranquil lounge, enjoyed an Ethiopian milk drink, listened to the spa sounds and simply relaxed, dried off, and prepared myself to re-enter society. That quiet time after being steamed, scrubbed, masked, oiled and scrubbed again was much needed and appreciated. My only critique is that the locker room could use a little freshening up. Otherwise, everything was clean and pristine, and the treatment area was lovely. Overall, I'm glad I tried the hammam on its own first. This is NOT your typical modest, robe-on spa treatment. Come prepared to steam, get naked, get scrubbed--and apparently leave a few layers of yourself behind. Alem made the entire experience comfortable and professional. Got treated to this Ethiopian Spa Experience for my birthday & BOMB 10/10 would def recommend. Started with the Moroccan Bath. They put you in a shower area that has tables for you to lay on & thick steam that you can't see through. You lay down on the table and are just lying in the steam room for maybe 25 to 30 minutes so your pores are fully opened up. Make sure you hydrate before by drinking plenty of water. Then the lady comes in.....picture like the pumice stone that you get with pedicures.....and baby when they say SCRUB.....they mean SCRUB.......she flipped me upside down and basically inside out and scrubbed off prob 2 to 3 layers of bad skin and ENERGY that I no longer needed. I feel like lighter and smoother and like a new person. After the first scrub with the pumice stone, she comes through with like a Brillo pad, then the last and final scrub is a coffee scrub.....that you then have to rinse off. My face and hair did get wet After the Moroccan bath you are given a smoothie made with oat milk, flax seed, peanut butter & banana & a bottle of water.....will update this review after my facial. But so far PERFECT way to start my birthday celebrations!! read more

The Morrcan Bath is a 20/10 experience. You should be prepared for alot of Stream and heat as the entire experience is in a steam room. You can ask for a shower cap, if not your hair will get wet. The experience is about 90 minutes and you are full nude. There is a sheet separating you from some else. About 10 mins initially of you laying in the steam, then a full body mask for 10 mins, then rinse, then the scrubbing starts, then a rinse, then another scrub, then a coffee scrub is applied & you sit for 5 mins, and then a rinse- whole time in the steam room. They will offer you water and an Ethiopian smoothie (whole milk, banana, honey, flax seed).I would have given 5 stars but I did notice the cushions where you sit to relax had some stains from makeup and the changing room offered brushes and etc but you could see hair in them from previous usage. I think they should offer disposable items for the area. I think after you finish your service the resting area should be in a different room, as they come in an clean right after and bring the next guest in but its a distraction from just relaxing for your $145 service. I would highly recommend checking them out, skin feels like a baby after the treatment. I would suggest bringing your own lotion, deodorant, and hair tools. read more

After a long work week, I decided that a spa visit was in order. Alem Spa was among my bookmarked business to try. I was able to schedule online the night before and received an immediate text confirmation after paying my deposit. I invited a friend to join and we decided to try different services and compare notes. I opted for the Yoni Smoke and Sudanese Dilka with smoke bath. The parking lot was virtually empty when I arrived, but I appreciate there being designated spaces for customers of Alem Spa. I was greeted warmly upon entry and found the space to be clean and quaint. The aroma was lovely and relaxing as well. I've had yoni steams in the past, so Alem's yoni smoke wasn't foreign to me. I must say that I now prefer the Weyba Tis method of cocooning my body during the yoni smoke. I didn't find the covering to be too heavy. I'm thinking of making this a monthly routine for myself.This was my first time experiencing the hair butter application, which was included with the yoni smoke. I'll certainly book that as a stand alone in the future because I didn't want it to end! An aloe shampoo and a conditioner were provided at the end of my service. I met up with my friend in the relaxation area and we enjoyed a delicious banana flavored smoothie that was provided. I believe all products are made in-house, maybe with exception to the hair conditioner. I believe that alone separates this spa from many others. My friend said she enjoyed the Morocco bath and the history she learned during the treatment. This was a wonderful experience and I will continue to support this business that contributes to the diversity of Atlanta that I so enjoy. Continued success to you, Madam Alem! read more
