Terrible service. Waited at my table for 20 minutes, was looked at but never helped, so I left.

Very unoriginal and bland Mexican food. Service was good and the decor is nice but the food is just not that good.

Had the fried chicken dinner and the taco salad. Chicken was good but the taco salad was amazing!!…read moreI'm including a photo because words can't describe it. Fresh ingredients and the dressings were not necessary but added to the flavor. Staff was very attentive and kind. We got a few pastries to go and the counter clerk was very helpful in our decision (bear claw and bread pudding). I've been to a Black Bear before, but when I saw this was attached to a gas station, I was ready to go elsewhere. I'm so glad I didn't. Tables were spaced nicely, clean and well lit.

The food was great as well as the service. However, I asked for a side of ranch which keep in mind…read more was a small 1oz plastic container and when our ticket came there was a charge for the dressing(normally not a big deal) however the charge was $3.99. Would have been nice to know this upon ordering said dressing, when we asked about it paying our check the hostess even agreed that it was excessive and she wasn't aware(she had to ask) that they charge for it now. Great if you're charging for it but 3.99?! I can buy a bottle of ranch for that. It also contained bacon which I'm not sure if this was normal as this was our first time dining there. Was enough for me never to question everything if we ever decide to eat there again... and that's a big IF. Do better people. That should have been revealed when I was ordering. Ridiculous.

Drove wayyyyy out to Mexican Water Trading Post after visiting Monument Valley to chase some Navajo…read morefry bread (and other Navajo inspired treats). Ultimately, our curiosity was met! We shared an order of plain fry bread and another Navajo taco which is fry bread with some fresh taco-like toppings. The fry bread was interesting! It was lightly sweet, with a crispy exterior but a doughy interior. The taco version came topped with ground beef, whole beans, tomatoes, lettuce, and onions. I appreciated the freshness of the ingredients but it definitely sogged up the fry bread. I much preferred the original. Two dishes held us (4 people) over quite well for the remainder of the afternoon. I'm taking off a star simply because of service - it was kind of weird but we also kind of expected it because of the location? We clearly had 4 people but we only got 1 place setting. We were also told to sit at a table but then had to order at the counter anyways? Oh well. Mexican Water Trading Post is the only thing at this location besides the gas station and the 7-11 like market. Open everyday 8am to 8:30pm.
