This is a good thing as sound travels quite well within the confines of the space and all snippets of conversation were instantly heard. I was keen on ordering an empanada and the bistro carries both Colombian and Argentinian varieties. The owner mentioned what the fillings were to me in Spanish. Pollo, Carne, etc...-no problem. I wasn't sure what sort of empanadas I had had in the past, so I asked what the difference was between those from Colombia and those from Argentina. The owner then recited what the fillings were again, but, this time, in German, then he retreated from the table. Okay, thanks for the repeat. I decided to get up and take a peek at the display counter and I could see that the difference was contained in the pastry casing around the filling. Colombian=cornmeal pastry; Argentian=white flour pastry. Why the owner couldn't communicate that I don't know. An empanada was chosen, put on a panini grill to be warmed up and shortly delivered to my table. Unfortunately, my snack hadn't yet thawed out since it had been pulled from the freezer and was still frozen on its underside while being marginally warm on its top half. An unexpected bite into something frozen (crunch!) is pretty funky, but not a huge problem. I got up and asked if the empanada could be heated a bit more and mentioned that it was still partially frozen. After a decent wait of almost ten minutes the empanada was delivered back to the table replete with wee bite that I had spit out. Had it also been warmed up on the panini grill? Figuring that the darn thing would be now super hot, I took a cautious bite and burnt my mouth anyway. Ooopsie. After that, the whole thing tasted like 'hot', if that makes any sense. I'd chalk the experience up to an off day all around. However, would I be inclined to go back? Naw. From the looks of things, both the blended juices on offer and the home made cakes on display might be the way to go here.

Chacarero Steakhouse delivers the kind of meal that makes you stop mid‑bite and say, "Okay... this…read moreis really good." From the moment you walk in, the warm lighting and relaxed atmosphere set the tone for a great night out, and the staff keeps that energy going with attentive, genuinely friendly service. The star of the show is absolutely the steak. Perfectly seasoned, beautifully grilled, and served exactly at the temperature requested; it's the kind of quality you usually only find at high‑end steakhouses. The sides are just as impressive: fresh, flavorful, and clearly made with care. The chimichurri deserves its own shout‑out; it's bright, bold, and elevates everything it touches. Drinks are well‑crafted, portions are generous without being over the top, and the pacing of the meal feels thoughtful rather than rushed. It's the kind of place that works equally well for a date night, a celebration, or just treating yourself to a seriously good dinner. If you're anywhere near Kaiserslautern and craving a great steakhouse experience, Chacarero is absolutely worth the visit. I'd come back in a heartbeat.

From start to finish, this meal was chef's kiss. Chacarero…read moreseriously delivered. It all kicked off with a perfectly balanced Pisco Sour -- frothy, sweet, and sour in the best way. The bread and salsa appetizer was a nice touch (simple but fresh), and the Gouda empanadas? Melt-in-your-mouth good. I ordered the beef and loved that they cooked it exactly how I wanted -- juicy, tender, and full of flavor. The staff made the experience even better with thoughtful check-ins that felt friendly, not forced. Dessert sealed the deal: churros with dulce de leche ice cream and a shot of espresso. Sweet, warm, and just the energy boost I needed to end the night on a high note. Highly recommend if you're craving bold flavors and a little comfort. What dish would you go for first -- the empanadas or dessert?
