If you are a special needs parent looking for reliable respite care, please read this before…read morechoosing Pacific Homecare Services.
I switched respite companies nearly a year ago, genuinely believing that coming to Pacific Homecare would finally give my family the relief and support we desperately needed. As a parent raising children with special needs, respite is not a luxury. It is a lifeline. Unfortunately, my experience with this company has been nothing short of exhausting, disappointing, and overwhelming.
Over the past year, I have dealt with caregivers who are consistently unreliable, show up late, cancel, or simply don't show up at all. I've also experienced caregivers who spend their time sitting on their phones instead of actively engaging with the child they are being paid to care for. In my experience, there has been a serious lack of professionalism, accountability, and adherence to expectations.
What pushed me over the edge was my conversation with manager Maria. I was literally in tears explaining how overwhelmed I was, how I have no family support to fall back on, and how much I depend on respite services just to get a moment of relief. I expressed how deeply dissatisfied I was with the ongoing issues. Instead of receiving meaningful support or a solution, my services were placed on a two-week pause.
Imagine being a parent already stretched beyond your limits, begging for the support your family depends on, only to have that support interrupted after expressing your concerns.
That is absolutely unacceptable to me.
Companies providing respite services need to understand the families they are serving. We are not simply looking for someone to sit in our homes and collect a paycheck. We need compassionate, dependable individuals who genuinely care about our children, respect their needs, and understand the enormous responsibility that comes with providing care.
Stop placing caregivers with vulnerable families if they are not prepared to show up, be present, follow expectations, and provide the quality of care these children deserve.
After nearly a year with Pacific Homecare, I can confidently say that switching to this company has created more stress than relief for my family.
Please do not assume that positive reviews guarantee a positive experience. I wish someone had shared an experience like mine before I made the switch.
To any special needs parent considering Pacific Homecare, I strongly encourage you to explore other options. Our families already carry enough. We should not have to fight this hard for something that is supposed to provide us with support.
Respite should bring relief, not become another source of stress.
